They Built Me a Bike to Cycle Around the World
Meet Asia, the new titanium bike built to continue my endless journey around the world.
This project became possible when Pinion agreed to provide their C1.12 gearbox, followed by Carver Bikes supplying the Titanium 420 frame and bringing the complete bike together with components from Hope Tech, Selle San Marco, Cane Creek, Paul Components, WTB and Schwalbe. In this video I give you a first look at the complete build, explain some of the choices behind it, show the challenge of packing it for long distance travel with almost no preparation time, and share my first impressions from the road. You will see Asia fully loaded as I leave Tbilisi and hear my first thoughts again 1300 kilometres later after reaching Atyrau in Kazakhstan.
This is only the introduction. Proper long term reviews will come after several months of dirt, mountains and abuse.
Huge thanks for making this bike possible to:

So this is the equivalent of me buying a Mercedes or BMW? 😂 I love how all the bike tubes are slightly curved on that Carver frame. Seems like a lot is riding on that weld at 5:10, but this is so advanced it's hard to tell what I'm looking at, honestly. The bike is magnificent!
Congrats on your new machine! You have earned it! And those components are really something😊
This is so nice! I am so happy and what a great bike with just excellent components! Paul brakes are top of the line
Also, thank you for bringing us all along this journey!
Do you carry a spare Gates belt? Love the bike!
Awesome new bike! I'm certain it will serve you well, above and beyond the call of duty! Safe travels my friend and keep up the great work with videos/photos!
❤

🎉awesome
Wow happy for you man love following your Journey. Everytime my girl hear me listen to your videos she yells "my bicycle" with your Italien accent 😂 take care!
Nice build Davide.
I had my DT SWISS U623 rims built with DT SWISS Alpine lll spokes on PRO5 hubs.
I have the same Cane Creek.
Love the titanium frame.
I’m really happy for you.
Many miles in safety for you.
I now want a Carver frame 😊 for my tour build.
Love it, and it means a whole lot to a company support world tour cyclists
Ciao Davide! Enjoy riding your new rig! Asia is beautiful and a suitable name for her 🙂
come si suol dire 'TOP GEAR'! 👍
Finally
Finally a new bike🎉!!!! You deserved it! Better later then never, you deserved it much earlier, but congratulations again! 👍👌💪
Looks a bit too fancy for long touring. Hopefully it doesn't get stolen.
Ciao Davide! How exciting, thanks for sharing!! I too own a Carver Bike, and btw, I believe this is a German Brand from Fahrrad XXL, not American. I cannot wait for your next videos to see how it performs!
I personally ride with a suspension fork, to save pain in shoulder and all other upper body and back joints, but I get the weight argument… a redshift suspension head unit would do the trick, If you weren't so heavily front loaded … I believe that front suspension is much more important than seat suspension (with the right saddle) … also thinking about your back pains… this has a huge effect!
So very excited to see it all work for you!
You also seem to FINALLY have a new sun Hoodie and a new cap. 😉
Ride on and ride hard!
Frank
A very nice bike Davide. You lucky lucky lucky boy.
I would go for and indeed have gone for Hope hydraulic V4 brakes on my Kona fat bike with Rohloff. I had to pay for them as well. The stopping power is phenomenal and they are so reliable. Effectively zero maintenance.
The Pinion gearbox with Gates belt is a great set up. Enjoy.
There is a better front rack than the Surly Nice rack. It's the Specialised Pizza rack. I ditched my Surly front rack as it was so heavy and the shelf isn't very big. The Pizza rack has a much better and larger shelf, is MUCH lighter and very strong plus you can mount side panniers, bottle cages on it, what ever you want. It's much cheaper than the Surly front rack as well. I love it.
Hopefully your new bike will mean you can cycle for many more miles/km continuing your journey RTW.
put a chain on it, great content. thanks.
wats the lowest gear ratio of the gearbox?
Bel bici Davide! Buona fortuna❤
