Saskatchewan Hidden Gems: Blackstrap Provincial Park & Saskatoon | RV travel camping (Ep. 470)
Many RV travelers may be tempted to skip Saskatchewan, but there are numerous true gems hidden throughout this Canadian province’s vast flat prairie. And one of them is Blackstrap.
Blackstrap Lake is a reservoir some nine miles long and half a mile wide, with an extensive Provincial Park lining its eastern shore. In addition to three campgrounds that range from dry camping to full hookup, the park also includes swimming beaches, 15 miles of trails for hiking and biking, exceptional birding, two boat ramps for fishing and water sports, and even a tiki bar and a man-made “mountain” that once served as an alpine ski area. In this week’s Grand Adventure we bring you to Blackstrap, along with the quirky nearby village of Dundurn, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan’s largest city only 30 minutes away. Come along!

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.
We’re based in Salt Lake City, Utah during the winter months, and invite you to come along as we travel all around North America. My wife Patricia and I, and dog Zoe are avid boondockers, so while you’ll occasionally find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds, we’re usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. We’ve now transitioned from “long-timing” for six months a year, to living and traveling in our RV full-time.
We’ll provide beautiful travel videos, as well as some tips and insight on trip planning, and equipping and maintaining your RV to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember…life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Wow Marc… you finally got a flying ebike. Shades of ET buddy!😅
Gord
Yay, ticks!!
Eastern who?
Good VID
I do enjoy your videos. Could I suggest you edit the music to be lower or equal to your audio?
Wow, what a fun video. Looking at it from Florida in July, it looks refreshingly cool. It would be a nice place for a summer home. 😊
Let’s hope no more snow ❄️
You found a gem in this provincial park.
Who knew- near Saskatoon- tiki bar overlooking a lake with white pelicans and umbrella cocktails- I think I would have expected beer and bear. Oh wait..that comes later…and what a deal!
And the weather! I can’t imagine the winters there. Wild indeed.
Tick check..hate ‘em! They are bad here too. Glad to see you wearing a helmet.
AND Hopefully the heat will break here by the time you get into the Mitten. It’s miserably hot.🥵
Travel safe.
Hi. I hope something of these parks and
restaurants give you a discount for making all of them look so inviting Thanks GA
Free firewood. That's a first. Great video again. Don
That was a hard bike ride! My phone would have popped out at least 3 times and my ass the same amount! TY!
Very pretty country! Have safe travels!
I grew up near Saskatoon, Learned to ski on that bump in the early eighties LOL
Another great video! We appreciate all the research you put into your visits.
did you happen to be a Echo Valley provincial park in May? I could swear I noticed a set up just like you appear to have.
Thanks for the interesting review, Marc. Quirky area with lots of back home charm.
I liked seeing the introduction of trees on the plains. Architecturally, it becomes interesting to view.
I guess, when you reserve campsites in advance… you're still looking at a box of chocolates depending upon the weather and other existing variables.
With those temperature differentials, you can't avoid wind. We had steady winds here in Fort Worth for the better part of two weeks. Now, the wind and the rains have quieted down to a normal summer.
There seems to have been weather anomalies all over the place this past June.🤔

Looks nice and green! I'm glad you have missed areas where there are fires. I've heard that Moab and Ouray have bad fires and are covering otherwise great camping areas with smoke.
I think your kayak is a little bit jealous of your e-bike. 😢

👍🏼👍🏾
Fantastic video. I do appreciate the history and research you put in the places you visit. Thank you for taking us along. God Bless
