Spring has arrived in Fukui! To enjoy the rising temperatures and the beauty of the #cherry blossoms to their fullest, let’s embark on a #cycling daytrip across Tsuruga City!

Tsuruga City is a charming port town at the junction between the Hokuriku Shinkansen and #Kyoto. Nestled between mountains and the Sea of Japan, the city enjoys a rather flat terrain, a rich history and in spring, beautiful cherry blossoms spots, a perfect combo to enjoy a leisured bike ride!

Tsuruga City is also the first section of the Wakasa Bay Cycling Road, a 126 kilometers-long cycling route stretching from Tsuruga to Takahama. Beautiful scenery, ancient shrines and temples, seaside, lakes and charming coastal towns line this enchanting itinerary!

Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train to Fukui Station from #Tokyo (2 h 51 min) or #Kanazawa (23 min)

    Thanks for a very informative video and for posting the useful links ! I was already planning a day trip to Tsuruga when I visit Fukui later this year, so it was great to see many of the places I intend to visit ⛩🌲 The route looked perfect for me (especially with the blue arrows) as I haven't ridden a bicycle in a number of years.

    Disappointingly I'll be visiting towards the end of October, so it looks like I'll be too early for the fall garden at Saifukuji Temple and probably too late for the best of the nearby cosmos 😥 That said, if I have time, I'll probably visit anyway 🤞

    Some (hopefully) quick questions about the shared bike usage:

    1) I know that it's possible to "return" a bike at one of the many bike ports i.e. from another of your videos you need to lock the bike then press a button. I'm not clear though what happens when you park the bike while visiting an attraction. Specifically I'm thinking about a scenario where I might park the bike say at Kehi-Jingu shrine, could another user then "check out" the bike while I'm inside the shrine. If so, presumably I'd need to "check out" a different bike from another bike port. Alternatively is that specific bike "locked" just for me until I "return" it ?

    2) Can you rent a cycling helmet or do you need to bring your own ? I may bring one with me anyway just to make sure I have one that I know fits !
