I'm filled with a sense of longing for a place I haven't been to. I want to spend time in Kumamoto on a future return visit to Japan, so maybe I will take the journey to some of these locations.
la riviere est trés belle, mais les building sont vieillots, perso je suis allé a kurokawa (au nord de la caldera d'aso) et les bains etaient plus jolis, j'ai bien aimé un pass en bois a tamponner 10€/3 bains valable dans tout le shotels de l'onsen, je vais pas m'étendre sur le tourisme en augmentation, le boycott chinois, ni sur le déclin de la population japonaise,
mais il ya un fait clair, la concurrence et le changement des clients (+vacances et -de vieux), la ce qu'il faut c'est relooker la station et repenser les commerces pour cette clientele plus jeune et etrangere,… ils devraient engager quelques designer et des touristes et ecouter ce qu'ils ont a dire….1/ cacher l'utilitaire: tuyaux/voitures/pylone etc… derriere du bois, 2/ s'accorder sur un style global, pourquoi pas yakisgui, toit de chaume, pierre volcanique 3/des fleurs, ouai c'est con mais c'est joli. 4/faire des commerces et restau +jeunes, 5/des bains +stylés.

The temple area is stunning and it reminds me of the reclusive woods of my childhood but better. I would love to go there and just listen to the birds and wind for hours. It saddens to me to see so many abandoned buildings. I used to visit my great-grandmother and she would talk about how the village she lived in used to be bustling with life. So many towns around them had become nonexistent, the only businesses left were a bar and a farm. I hope this town and the others like it avoid that fate and are revived.

My family is from Kumamoto. The population is aging. Since medieval times my father's side were water aquifer conservationists commissioned by the local government. Now the oldest members of my father's side are pretty much spending the last of their days overseeing the water projects that irrigate the crazy amounts of farmland and fields throughout the valley. It's going to be like the Guilty Gear storyline, Japanese are going to become an "endangered population". Nobody wants to keep the old traditions going, globalism and the economy demand attention and human labor elsewhere.
On my mother's side, my grandfather was the only physician in his town. By the time he was too old to keep his clinic running, he sold the building to commercial property investments and just worked for the prefectural hospital until he passed. There's no prosperity anymore. Growth is reflected by GDP nowadays, no longer is growth done by thriving communities and ever-growing friendships. People are isolated. Communities are isolated. The Gods of the forests and mountains we chopped down to make room for commercial property will eventually re-awaken and reclaim all the land they've lost. Roads will be grown over, buildings will be overtaken by plants, and the thousands of years we've been here with all the rich history we've made will all just be forgotten.
Sadly I'll never be able to visit such beautiful places so I very much appreciate your video that allows me to experience it

Tsuetate is a magical place I found by coincidence while driving my scooter from Fukuoka to Aso.
I have visited it many times since and have recommended it to many friends. All of them have fallen in love with the place.
I hope that one day it becomes popular again, it truly deserves it!
