90 Minutes from Tokyo… and It Feels Like Another World
Escape Tokyo with me for a quick coastal adventure in Chiba! In this week’s ride, I head southwest of Tateyama and cruise along the famous Bōsō Flower Line, one of the most underrated coastal routes near the capital. With ocean views, open roads, and that classic Bōsō Peninsula vibe, it’s the perfect day trip — and it’s less than 90 minutes from central Tokyo.
Along the way, I explore quiet seaside stretches, scenic lookout points, and some of the smoothest coastal curves in the region. And of course… I had to stop for lunch. I grabbed an amazing sushi meal at Boso Station Tomiura, a local spot that absolutely delivered on freshness and flavor.
If you’re looking for an easy escape from the city, a new route to ride, or just want to enjoy some relaxing coastal scenery, this one’s for you.

Hi Arch, re your Garmin mini and Chigee, would you be able to input positional coordinates into the Chigee if phone signals were absent? There is a big leap in price between the cell phone navigation and the likes of DMD and Carpe Iter.

I was hoping to ride with you in Tateyama area some nice places to show. Your drone video are awesome only possible aerial view which i had never seen though seen from the ground. Enjoyed your video and yes Tomiura rest place Michi no Eki is one of good place for lunch!
