Skifahren in Japan ist gerade überall Thema: Japow, Snow, Tree-Runs und die Frage, ob Japan ski wirklich das neue Maß der Dinge ist. In diesem Video bekommst du meinen ehrlichen Vergleich zwischen Japan und den europäischen Alpen – persönlich erzählt, aber mit klaren Fakten, damit du für deine eigene Reiseplanung ein realistisches Bild bekommst.
Ich war über acht Wochen in Japan unterwegs, auf Hokkaido und Honshu, und habe viele japan ski resort Eindrücke gesammelt – von Niseko über Rusutsu bis Hakuba und Nozawa Onsen. Dabei geht es nicht nur um japan skiing und tiefschnee skifahren Japan, sondern auch um Kultur, Infrastruktur, Regeln abseits der Piste und das Gesamtgefühl, das ein Skiurlaub vermittelt.
Japow ist real, aber nicht garantiert: Wetterfenster, Sicht und Wind gehören dazu. Die Alpen sind beim Powder oft weniger verlässlich, liefern dafür viele „schöne Skitage“ mit Panorama, langen Abfahrten und enormer Vielfalt. Am Ende bekommst du mein klares Fazit, für wen skifahren in japan passt – und warum die Alpen für mich als Gesamtpaket weiterhin extrem stark sind.

I don't understand why comparing 1 country Vs 8 countries? of course the Alps have more variety in everything if you can choose between Francia, Suiza, Italia, Austria, Alemania, Liechtenstein, Eslovenia y Mónaco. I like how you make the content of your videos but the general subject of this one is a little unfair.
Gibt es in Japan auch gutes Pisten fahren?
l take the Sinkansen from Tokyo to Gala Yuzawa. lts super convenient because you can even go there on a day trip
I enjoyed your comparison between Japan and the Alps. My home mountain is Vail. It is ridiculously expensive although there are ways to reduce some of the costs and I can drive to the resort from Denver. The only European resort I have visited is Ischgl. I thoroughly enjoyed it not only for skiing but for the cultural experience. I have always wanted to ski in Japan and maybe this will be the push.

Powdertage in den Alpen, besonders in freeride only areas, gab es kürzlich auch. Ja Lawinengefahr Stufe 4 zwang zu Kompromissen. Vor der Haustür fällt mir das Dammkar ein, oder am Laber.
Having skied both places but especially the Alps as we live there, Marius has missed out on one big advantage of Japan: the food there is fantastic, whereas on the pistes and even in the villages in the Alps, the food quality is varied, but tends to be monotonous, and not cheap.
Also, the last few years since Covid, we haven’t had a good season in the Alps. We usually have good and fun skiing days, but living here, we can pick and choose. Snow fall and snow quality hasn’t been good in any season since at least 2022. We still love it but that’s because of the overall experience including scenery.

Initially Japanese villages plan only for domestic skiers. didn't consider attracting international visitors. Japanese snowboarders have budget day trips with Onigiri🍙almost every week. close to highway and a high speed rail station. depart from Tokyo every 10-20 min.
Japanese college students are known getting cheap bus tours with a ski lodge shared huge hot spring baths
In Japan, if you get lost even at a small ski resort, the world's best mountain rescue teams will arrive quickly (they are truly amazing people!), but the most important thing is for you to be careful yourself!

The mountains of Hakuba area are around 3,000 meters high. Niseko annupri is only 1308m high. Not comparable to the Alps. Cold wind from Siberia and vapor from warm Sea of Japan give a lot of snow in these areas. I skied in the US, as well as Hakuba area. I wish I could go to the Alps someday. (I am Japanese)

正直日本は現在JAPOWと物価の安さと特別な文化体験で人気を集めてますが、まだ歴史や規模やインフラの面で欧州や北米のリゾート地とは差があると思います！
ニセコや白馬や妙高などが国際化しつつありますが、まだ黎明期のようなものでこれからインフラやホテルやアルプスのような大規模化がはじまるところなのであと20年は欧米並みのリゾートになるのにかかると予想してます。
それでも文化体験と物価の安さは魅力的だと思うので多くの外国人観光客がこれからも来て欲しいですね😊

Very ordinary snow fall since end of January in japan. Hakuba no snow last 3 weeks so book feb next year.. japow
Nice video, great points. But you are being a bit too nice to Japan. Infrastructure is extremely obsolete in Japanese ski resorts, except for Niseko. It is rare to find a ski lift younger than 30 years old, many even 60 years old. I live in Japan, and Japan only wins on the deep powder, which comes along with terrible weather for days, sometimes weeks.
Otherwise skiing in the Alps is a million times better than Japan

Hallo Marius, sehr schönes Video Japan ist sehr reizvoll, hatte vor circa 35 Jahren das Vergnügen, nach Sturm und drei Tagen starken Dauer Schneefall im Kleinwalsertal, bei über 2m Pulver zu Fahren. Das war ein Einmaliges Erlebnis. Skifahren wie auf Wolken.

Starkes Video! Ich bin Ende des Monats für insgesamt eine Woche in Japan und möchte 2 -3 Tage Tokio sehen und dann mit Mietwagen in die Skiregion. Welches Gebiet würdest du für so einen Zeitraum empfehlen?
Ich fahre in den Alpen seit ich denken kann (Piste, Skitour) und war Feb 2020 in Japan – Marius hat den Vergleich hier technisch sauber heeausgestellt, aber eins fehlt: Wenn man Kultur, Menschen und dem Anderssein grundsätzlich offen ist, ist Japan vor allem eine emotionale, tiefe, kulturelle Erfahrung und wer beim Ski eher das Apres, statt Natur (und Ruhe) geniesst, wird sich evtl langweilen. Du tauchst nicht nur beim Powder tiefer ein, auch die Seele springt tief ein und hǔpft mit Freude wieder auf 🙂 Jeder der Ski mit Fokus Natur liebt, muss 1x Japow erleben 🙏🏻

He didn't focus much on the size of the ski resorts, which is a huge difference. The Alps, on the other hand, are generally weak on tree skiing.
Talking about ski resort size, and mention only Austria and South Tyrol, instead of French ski resorts which are far bigger, wider and more modern than anywhere else in the world is strange… I agree on the rest of the video btw. The best ski resorts in the world are in France, that's not even a debate. And I'm not even mentioning food where no one can compete with France.
Great summary, but you missed the impact of crowds. Don't want to travel to either region to wait in line for 1 hour each run.

ドロミテに１度行きましたが、またドロミテに行きたいです。
ドロミテエリアの規模は、白馬エリアの5倍〜10倍あり、景色は素晴らしく、晴天率が高く、暖かくて、ロープウェイやリフトはピカピカで最高です。確かに、ヨーロッパアルプスは雪が非常に少ないです。しかし人工降雪機が、大半のエリアをカバーしており、問題はないです。。ヨーロッパのスキー場は、非常にリフト券が高く、食事も高コストですが、その価値があると思います。
日本のスキー場は大部分で人工降雪機を利用していないため、コストは安くなります。
