台湾の東縣谷をサイクリング – 1日目：花蓮から瑞穂へ

This is day 1 of biking Taiwan’s East Rift Valley.

We rode from Hualien to Ruisui, heading south on mostly quiet roads through farmland, rivers, and small towns. The first part of the ride was very hilly, winding through forested slopes and small villages, with plenty of uphill sections to make you earn the views. As we got closer to Ruisui, the valley opened up and flattened out, giving long stretches of road with wide, sweeping landscapes.

It was extremely hot …over 40°C and we spent much of the day managing the heat while dodging thunderstorms rolling through the valley. The combination of hills, open farmland, and distant mountains made it a visually stunning first day, and taking it all in while moving steadily from town to town felt really rewarding.
