@Fukuoka walk The market places part①

Hello i’m Rienda( ☆∀ This time we will take a walk around the shopping district. First, let’s take a look at Kawabata Shopping Street. Kawabata Dori Shopping Street is a long-established arcade shopping street with a history of 130 years and a total length of 400m.

Directly connected to Exit 5 of Nakasu Kawabata Subway Station. The entrance to the shopping street is in front of Hakata Riverain, and near the exit of the shopping street are Kushida Shrine, famous for the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival,

and Canal City Hakata, making it a popular spot for tourists even on holidays. There are approximately 130 diverse stores lined up. Kawabata-dori Shopping Street is divided into two parts, , “Kawabata Chuo Shopping Street” and “Kamikawabata Shopping Street.”

Although each shopping street association operates separately, the shopping street association works together. With Reizei Park as the border, the shorter one on the Hakata Riverain side is the Kawabata Chuo Shopping District, and the longer one on the Kushida Shrine side is the Kamikawabata Shopping District.

There is a good balance of old and new stores, including Buddhist altar stores, Hakata lantern stores, Hakata doll stores, kimono stores, clothing stores, restaurants, and 100 yen shops. During the Yamakasa festival, a decorative mountain is set up at each location,

And the one that actually runs during the Yamakasa festival is the one on the Kamikawabata Shopping Street. Kawabata-dori Shopping Street is the first shopping street in Hakata to start using “Seimonwarai”.

This large-scale sale, which is said to have started in 1879 (Meiji 12), is held every year from November 15th to November 20th. Events and sales are held almost every month, starting with the first sale in January, Setsubun Fukuichi in February,

Spring Market in March, Kawabata Zenzai Opening Anniversary in April, Hakata Dontaku in May, July There are many events and sales, such as the bazaar associated with the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival, August’s Noryo Festa and Summer Festival, October’s Hakata Okunchi, November’s Seimonwarai, and December’s Christmas Sale.

Shintenmachi Shopping District/Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City Shintenmachi Shopping Street is a long-established shopping street in Tenjin that has been in operation since 1946 (Showa 21) during the post-war reconstruction period. Tenjin is said to be the busiest downtown area in Kyushu, and is visited by many people, including tourists.

It is directly connected to Tenjin Station on the Subway Kuko Line, and is a 1-minute walk from Nishitetsu Fukuoka Station, making it one of Tenjin’s landmarks that is visited by many people of all ages and genders.

Shintenmachi Shopping Street began in 1946 (Showa 21), but it was not until 1950 (Showa 25) that it was first converted into an arcade. It is said that this is due to the fact that it became obsolete due to a shortage of supplies after the war.

In 1972, Shintencho Favo was born, and in 1981, the fairy tale chime of the large clock tower was completed. In 2008 (Heisei 20), a solar-powered retractable “Shintencho Sundome” was installed in the central plaza

where the fairy tale chimes are located, and was designed to prevent fires, noise, and heat and cold. Shintenmachi Shopping Street is made up of two shopping streets in the north and south (Kita-dori and Minami-dori) and the underground shopping mall Furbo, and has about 100 stores.

In the central plaza connecting Kita-dori and Minami-dori, Japan’s largest clock tower (fairy tale chime) with a height of 17 meters has been installed, and a chime with a different music sounds every hour, and at 18:00 there is also a “Kuroda Bushi”

There are also plenty of fun points such as flowing! Similar to the Kawabata-dori shopping street, Shintencho will also have a special venue for Hakata Dontaku, and during the Yamakasa season a magnificent decorative mountain will also appear in this plaza. Yoshizuka Shopping District (Yoshizuka Little Asia Market)/Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City

Yoshizuka Market Little Asia Market (Yoshizuka Shopping Street) has a retro Showa era atmosphere and is full of exoticism. The old-fashioned arcade shopping street that has been in existence for over 70 years has been renovated as “Yoshizuka Market Little Asia Market” in December 2020!

The entrance to the shopping street is near the hall of a temple called Yoshizuka Jizoson. It is a shopping street full of humanity, with wonderful shutter art and wall art of cats, elephants, chickens, etc. It was in 1950 that Yoshizuka Shopping Street began to be called “Yoshizuka Market.”

It is said that the business started with two fish shops and a greengrocer when food was still in short supply after the war. After that, it spread like a black market and became a market with many people coming and going in narrow alleys,

And in 1957 (Showa 32), it received permission from Fukuoka City and evolved into an arcade shopping street. The Yoshizuka district, where many foreign residents live, is trying to attract restaurants specializing in Asia in order to promote interaction and coexistence between local residents and foreign residents.

This market retains the atmosphere of the good old downtown area while offering an Asian feel throughout. Yanagibashi Rengo Market is an arcade shopping street with a total length of approximately 100 meters and is lined with approximately 50 stores. Approximately 70% of the customers are said to be chefs,

but it is also a “market that pleases everyone”, including housewives, tourists, and general consumers who like authentic products (please note that it has not been turned into a tourist destination) If Tanga Market is the “kitchen of Kitakyushu,” Yanagibashi Rengo Market is the “kitchen of Hakata.”

It’s also great to buy fresh ingredients and eat them while walking (please note that there are no trash cans! Yanagibashi Rengo Market originated in July 1918 as Akira Market, which sold fresh fish purchased at the current Fukuoka City Central Wholesale Fish Market, and other stores opened later.

Then, a shopping street was formed. After the end of the war, the black market started to appear and regained its momentum, and later became “Yanagibashi Rengo,” and in August 1992, “Yanagibashi Rengo Market Cooperative Association.” 100 years have passed since its establishment,

and Yanagibashi Rengo Market has survived even with the coronavirus. As long as you can rely on it. Approximately half of the shopping street is made up of fresh fish and seafood stores, as well as meat and livestock products stores, fruit and vegetable stores,

Wine specialty stores, liquor stores, tea shops, restaurants, cafes, as well as clothing stores, cosmetics stores, etc. There was also a Japanese sweets shop. You can also buy Hakata’s delicious mentaiko!

The market is closed on Sundays and holidays, and “Loco Works Coffee” to the left of the entrance is closed on Wednesdays. Kiyokawa Sunroad Shopping Street/Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City Kiyokawa Sunroad Shopping Street is a shopping street that operates near Yanagibashi Rengo Market.

Inside the 100m long arcade, there are various shops such as delicatessen shops, 100 yen shops, and greengrocers, and it is loved by people living in the surrounding area because it has almost everything you need. There are many markets, shopping streets, and supermarkets around Watanabe-dori Station,

so there are plenty of options, so you can enjoy both shopping and finding delicious restaurants. Kiyokawa Sunroad Shopping Street has three greengrocers, a long-established butcher, a delicatessen store, a ramen shop,

A beauty salon, a 100 yen shop, a convenience store, a hair color specialty store, and a clothing store, all located in the basement. and there is an international restaurant on the 2nd floor. They seem to be working on a campaign to improve bicycle etiquette,

so please cooperate by pushing your bicycle around the shopping district and turning on your lights at night. It is adjacent to the concourse plaza on the Hakata exit side of Hakata Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Kuko Line ,

and from this concourse you can access the Hakata Bus Terminal (“Bastika”), Hakata Shin-Mitsui Building , and Fukuoka Asahi Building ( Sun). An underground shopping mall is formed along the underground passageways that extend to the Plaza Underground Shopping Mall .

In addition to shopping and eating in the underground shopping mall, it is also a popular passageway where people can cross the street to avoid the busy streets in front of the station . Let’s go into the basement of the department store. It’s full of delicious scent‼️‼️

I can eat as many sweet things as I want Let’s go buy something It’s in the afternoon when there aren’t many people, but it’s full of people. You’ll need to be prepared to line up just before Christmas. I bought the triangular chocolate cake on the bottom right.

I got 1000 yen off using the Hakata Hankyu point card discount. If you enjoyed it, please subscribe to the channel and hit the like button.
