The Tadami Line | Nat Route 252 Japan
Riding Japan’s National Route 252 Along the Tadami River (Two-Up Moto Adventure)
Join us as we ride Japan’s National Route 252 alongside the breathtaking Tadami River — a legendary scenic road through deep valleys, towering mountains, and peaceful riverside towns. Riding two-up makes this journey even more special, soaking in the sounds, curves, and incredible rural landscapes that make this one of Japan’s most beautiful motorbike routes.
This road is stunning in every season, snaking along the emerald Tadami River and offering some of the most photogenic views in Fukushima and Niigata.
This area is known for heavy snow and extreme winter weather and in April 2025, an avalanche and related snow effects caused the collapse of the “出逢橋 (Deai Bridge).
After months of repair work, a temporary bridge and route were completed, and the road reopened for through traffic on August 8, 2025, albeit with alternating one-way traffic in places, so we were extremely fortunate that it was reopened when we were in Japan soon after.
This push-and-pull between nature and access highlights just how rugged and remote this ride truly is — and why it’s so rewarding to experience it on two wheels.

Nice video ! I'm thinking about riding on this road on two wheels as well, but with a bicycle. The scenery looks stunning but since it's kind of in the middle of the mountains, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be too hard in terms of elevation… What do you guys think ?
