Cycling Ehime – Exploring Matsuyama Highest Peak.
Morning. Still in Aheime Matsyama. And today it’s going to be exploring the city still, but the themes will be uh the highest peak close to the city of Matsyama, which is the Mount Tanawa, and see how we go. Apparently, it’s going to be a sloggish type of ride based on the review. We’ll see how bad it’s going to be. 3 km outside the city. Well, I think still in the city. It’s just bit quieter than the middle of city. So, we’re going towards the mountain and the mountains just in front of us. [Music] Feels like we’re already outside the city now. And cuz the mountains getting closer, the streets get quieter and it’s just falls flat from here. Kept going up one or two%. Good for a warm up. So Wahoo climb segment just came out. So it’s pretty much don’t if you can see it. It’s 19.4 kilometers with average gradient of 4%. 19.4 km. What a fun day. Let’s go. So, the climb just started. The profile shows that this climb got 900 plus m of elevation in total. So, the profile of it, a lot of green to start with and yellow and red at the end. A lot of it. Oh, and I found there’s a monkey. the right butt. About 3 km done out of 19. It’s a bit of a recovery here around the dam. So far the climb feels like back of Gua, but the first half it’s not that steep. But it’s not that gentle as well. It’s about 6 7 8 been good. [Music] [Music] 16 km to the top of the mountain. But people from Italy. Yes. And where is it from? PA Project Adventure Cycling. Project Adventure Cycling. And they’re doing the Hokkaido. Oh. Oh, there you go. PA cycling. That’s all right. All right. Enjoy. That’s really nice to meet cyclists from different part of the world and they’re doing tour of a thing from Hiroshima to Kyoto. Yeah. So, by the way, we’ve done 9 km of a climb segment. So far, it’s not as scary as what I thought it’s going to be because a quarter of it is force flight about 12%. And bit of a descent. So don’t worry, don’t be scared of the distance of a 19.4. But in saying that, I haven’t done the last quarter of a climb, which from Wahoo, it’s just yellow and red. We’ll see. bit of a waterfall in action and it’s about 9 km to the top of Mount Takanawa. As you can see that the roads become narrower. It’s like a single lane and they’re really quiet. So, we’ve already turned off out of the main road and we’re doing this. I think this is just a segment for the Takanawa Mountain. Beautiful. Quiet. We’re currently passing through small village, but I don’t really see anyone here. I can see the floats. So 100% someone’s still here. Think it’s really quiet and half of the segment so far is a good news. It’s like a back of cutoter. So maximum pinch is about 12 to 13%. The rest is just like 6 or 8%. It’s just longer. The thing about it that you do about three laps ga but just climbing. [Music] We’re finishing the main segment of the climb and now we’re going to turn right which is taking us to look out. It’s beautiful climb. That’s good. Looks like looks like we reach the top, but I don’t think so. Probably a bit more. There you go. Going to go further up higher that much. Last 100 m of the 19 hot kilometers K to look out to the top of the Mount Takanawa. There you go. That’s the sign. Hoping there will be a lookout somewhere. Let’s go finish. So, we arrived. That’s a sign. And I think that’s as far as we can go with the bike. But there’s a walk path here that will take you to potentially be the lookout. Oh, going to carry the bike first. All right, there’s another stairs to climb. Going to leave the bag down there and see what’s up there. Halfway up, man. The view is amazing. Look at this. [Music] I’m going to keep going up. Yeah, this is it. [Music] We’re back on the main road again and all the way desend to the next city. Let’s go. [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Heat up here. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] I think we’re really close to the bottom of the descent. It’s really cold up there and less sun. Oh god. And now we can see the safe. This is This is good from the mountain side straight to the bay side. up the mountain closer to the sea on the other side and going back. We got tail now. Look how quiet the roads are. [Music] [Applause] [Music] The winds are Pretty crazy. But fortunately, we’re going that way, which mean we’re going to get tailwind all the way. Let’s go. We’re currently at the national route. Explain why the big road and so many trucks. So, we’re going to take this back to the city before a bit of a detour to another lookout. We’re doing a bit of a detour and add one more climb before going back to the city. And based on my research, there’s a local lookout looking at the city. So, don’t know how it’s going to be. So, we’re going to check it out. This one’s going to be 4 km of a climb with average gradient of four and I think elevation’s about 200. [Music] We’re at the stipit but the stipit is about 6 7 8%. So I feel like okay bit more about 500 m finished the climb the last 300 m actually it’s the steepest it reach about 10 11 12% again so it’s good climb but it was on the main road was good but not as good. Let’s find the lookout. I’m guessing this this is it. Let’s see. All the way. Very cool. Now we’re desent back to the city. Honestly, this is really nice neighborhood. It’s located at top of the hill. There’s a lot of views and there’s another turn. That might be it. I think this is the one, not the other one. Why? Because of that. [Music] We’re now back to the city again and we’re going to finish right in about 2 or 3 km from here. Um I think overall it’s been a really great day and a great route and the Hakanawa Mountain is definitely a must go and must ride if you’re in Makyama. It’s a really great climb and there’s with amazing views at the top. It’s 100% rewarding. So, no questions. Have to try it. [Music] [Music]
