What Makes Tucson Arizona So Special?
What if I told you that there’s another side to Tucson, Arizona that you didn’t know about? A side that makes this city one of the most unique and attractive places to live in the United States. Hey everyone, it’s Kimberly, your go-to real estate agent in Tucson, Arizona. And today we are talking about whether or not Tucson is for you. Hit the like and subscribe buttons to follow along with Tucson News and learn more about things to do and see and know about this city, my hometown. And if you or anyone you know is selling or purchasing a Tucson home, all my contact information is in the description below each video on this channel. We have hundreds of videos out about Tucson and real estate on the channel, so explore the rest after this one. Let’s start with the obvious, the weather. Yes, Tucson gets hot. Like really, really, really hot. We’re talking about temperatures that can hit 110° in the summer. But here’s the thing. While everyone else is shoveling snow or dealing with dreary, rainy days, we’re enjoying over 300 days of sunshine every year. And that intense summer heat, it’s actually a dry heat, which makes a world of difference. You won’t have that sticky, unbearable humidity that you find in other parts of the country. Plus, the summer monsoon season brings dramatic thunderstorms that cool things down and make the desert come alive with color. Then there’s the winter. While others are bundling up, we’re hiking, golfing, or just soaking up the sun. So, yes, Tucson is hot, but it’s a heat that’s easier to manage and comes with the bonus of a yearround outdoor lifestyle. Next, let’s talk about the Sonoran Desert. One of the most biologically diverse deserts in the world. The Saworro Cacti, which can only be found here, are iconic symbols of the American Southwest. This place is home to a surprising variety of wildlife. From road runners and havalas to coyotes and even mountain lions, it’s a place where nature is vibrant and alive, offering something new to discover every day. Living in Tucson means having this incredible ecosystem right in your own backyard. You can hike, bike, or horseback through Sora National Park. Explore the rugged beauty of the Ringcon Mountains, or take a scenic drive up Mount Lemon, where you’ll find pine forests, cooler temperatures, and even snow in the winter. The desert is full of life, adventure, and beauty. And what about our rich history, vibrant culture, and thriving community? Tucson is home to a diverse population, a world-renowned university, and a thriving arts scene. The University of Arizona is a top tier research institution that brings cuttingedge technology, medical advancements, and a youthful energy to the city. The arts community here is incredible with galleries, theaters, and public art installations around every corner. The annual All Souls procession is a testament to the city’s unique culture, a vibrant, inclusive event that everyone should attend. And let’s not forget about the food. I know I don’t. Tucson is a UNESCO city of gastronomy. And for good reason. The food scene here is a delicious blend of Native American, Mexican, and frontier influences. From street tacos to gourmet dining, the local cuisine is something you won’t find anywhere else. And if you’re a fan of craft beer or artistal coffee, Tucson’s got you covered there, too. But what about the people? Tucson’s community is full of welcoming, friendly, and openhearted people from all walks of life. Folks here are genuinely interested in getting to know you, helping you, and making you feel at home. So many of my clients tell me months to years later how friendly they find the people in Tucson to be. This always brings a smile to my face. And between the neighborhood associations and volunteer groups, there are countless ways to get involved and make a positive impact. The city’s diversity is one of the greatest strengths, bringing together different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives to create a vibrant, inclusive community. One of the most compelling reasons to live in Tucson is the cost of living. Compared to other major cities in the US, Tucson is incredibly affordable. Housing costs here are much lower than in cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco or New York, making it possible to buy a home without breaking the bank. And it’s not just housing. Everything from groceries to entertainment is more affordable in Tucson, allowing you to enjoy a high quality of life without the high price tag. Meanwhile, Tucson’s economy is diverse and growing with key industries like aerospace, technology, education, and healthcare leading the way. Companies like Rathon, Caterpillar, and IBM have a strong presence here, providing good jobs and driving innovation. The University of Arizona also plays a crucial role in the local economy, attracting research funding, fostering startups, and driving innovation in a range of fields. The city’s downtown area has seen a resurgence in recent years with new businesses, restaurants, and entertainment venues opening up and creating a vibrant urban center. Tucson is a city on the rise with a growing economy and opportunities for professionals in a wide range of industries. If you’re someone who loves the outdoors, Tucson is a paradise. Hiking is a way of life here with trails for all levels of experience from challenging trails to leisurely strolls. And Tucson is also a haven for cyclists with hundreds of miles of bike paths and trails, including the famous loop, a 137 mile network that encircles the city. If you’re into mountain biking, you’ll find worldclass trails just minutes from downtown. And let’s not forget about golf with over 40 golf courses in the area. Tucson is a golfer’s dream, offering yearround play in some of the most stunning settings imaginable. But as much as I love to jog and hike, since my childhood, I have always enjoyed the simpler pleasures of Tucson nature. Imagine horseback riding through the desert at sunset or camping under the stars in the cool mountain air. Tucson’s dark skies make it one of the best places in the world for stargazing. When it comes to art and culture, Tucson is a cultural hub brimming with creativity, history, and artistic expression. We’ve got galleries, museums, and a thriving music scene. The Tucson Museum of Art offers a fascinating glimpse into both contemporary and historical art with exhibits that highlight the rich cultural heritage of the Southwest. The Arizona Sonor and Desert Museum is a unique blend of zoo, botanical garden, and natural history museum, providing an immersive experience into the desert environment. And the Fox Theater, Rialto Theater, Gaslight Theater, and Centennial Hall everything from Broadway shows to indie concerts, ensuring that there’s always something exciting on the calendar. Tonins take pride in their city, and they’re eager to share it with newcomers. Whether you’re a native or a transplant, you’ll find that it’s easy to make friends and become part of the community here. The city’s laid-back vibe means that people are approachable, and the small town feel ensures that you’ll run into familiar faces often. Plus, Tucson’s strong sense of community is evident in the many local events, volunteer opportunities, and neighborhood gatherings that take place throughout the year. Tucson is also a city that values diversity. People from all backgrounds and walks of life come together to create a rich multicultural environment. This diversity is reflected in everything from the food to the festivals. And it’s one of the things that makes Tucson such a vibrant and interesting place to live. So why would anyone want to live in Tucson? Well, it turns out there’s plenty of reasons. From the stunning natural beauty of the sonor and desert to the vibrant arts and cultural scene, from the affordable cost of living to the friendly, welcoming community, Tucson has it all. It’s a city where you can enjoy a high quality of life, connect with nature, and be part of a thriving, diverse community. If you can’t handle the summer heat, or if you’re looking for the hustle and bustle of a big city, Tucson might not be your cup of tea. But if you’re someone who values sunshine, wide open spaces, and a strong sense of community, Tucson might be just the right place for you. I lived in Tucson for only a month. It was a bad section and I still loved it. An apartment across from the airport graveyard. I see that there are much better sections now
