【映画紹介】
誰ひとり知らぬ人はいない有名な紛争地帯、パレスチナ。そこは世界で最も危険な場所の一つとみなされ、常に無責任で不確かな発言をするのが許されているかのような場所である。東京外国語大学アラビア語学科を卒業し、パレスチナ問題を扱うゼミにいたにも関わらず、むしろそれゆえに、自分には関わる資格がないと思い込んでいた監督が、ある日ふと思い立って彼の地を訪れると、そこで目の当たりにしたのは、何をあんなに臆病になっていたのかと思うほどに普通の人々と当たり前の日常だった。

【監督紹介】
1969年、仙台市生まれ。1992年東京外国語大学アラビア語学科卒業。1995年ころから平面絵画を中心としたアート活動を行ってきたが、2003年に仙台の商店街を会場にしたアート・プロジェクトに参加以後、コミュニケーションとしてのアートの可能性を追求するようになり、各地でアート・プロジェクトを中心とした企画に携わる。東日本大震災後はそれらの経験を生かし、アートによる震災の伝承とコミュニティ再生の取り組みを行う。2016年からは東北とスマトラ沖地震の被災地インドネシアのアチェとをアートで結ぶアート・プロジェクトを開始。津波で大きな被害を被ったアチェと三陸それぞれの沿岸200〜300キロを自転車で走り、その途上で出会った人や見た光景を撮影したことがきっかけで、2018年からドキュメンタリー制作を始める。地元宮城県気仙沼市に多くのインドネシア人技能実習生が住んでいることから、彼らの日常を撮影しながら、市民との交流の場をつくるプロジェクトを展開している。2021年からは自身が暮らす仙台の「ストレンジャー」を複数の監督で撮影するコミュニティアートプロジェクト「Strangers in Sendai〜仙台の異邦人」をスタートした。
