Surviving Alaska’s Wildest Road Through MUD, Rain & Cold S9 EP 08 | Pakistan to Americas Motorcycle
How is the life here? It’s just working. Just working, right? There is no life. We work, we eat, we sleep. We work, we eat, we sleep. Yeah, and that’s it. Let’s take a small break. Don’t go to the side. The rain has started. It’s pouring heavily. I’ve been up here 47 years. So you fly from here to Anchorage? And then I drive home. I was talking to someone and they said because our motorcycles are very dirty. So he asked if we can clean them he said like it costs $250 an hour. Did you see the price of gas here? It’s almost $8 a gallon. We had along the way as well $8. Everything’s expensive up here because it either has to be shipped up. Even the water comes from the house. We have the water up. Oh well we get our water from the Sag river here but you have to purify. A lot of the water is brought up yeah especially all the trash has to be hauled away it’s like $5,000 each trip. Just to haul the dumpster like yeah I got out. Have you seen the bears? We’ve seen the first day near the Denali National Park. They were here about three weeks ago, they were everywhere. They were all over it. There was another with triplets and they were last year’s babies because they were bigger babies but they tried to get in the dumpsters. They try to find the food. How is the life here? It’s just working. There is no life. We work, we eat, we sleep. We had to work rotations. Then we go home and someone takes our place and then we come back and we do it all over again. So you work here like for example one month and then you have one month off, right? Yes sometimes or I’ll come and work here. Go home for three or come work four go home for two. The good thing here is that you can make a lot of money, right? Yes I noticed there is no restaurant or bar or cafes. No, there is no alcohol allowed in the North Slope unfortunately. Some days I wish I could have a beer. Usually a person working here how much money can he make in a week? It just depends on the job but some people up here can make six seven eight hundred thousand dollars a year. Working only half the year. You know on a rotation. That’s a good money. Then there’s I think less tax in Alaska. There is no state tax in Alaska. So it’s even better. Now with President Trump they’re not going to tax our overtime that’s where we always got hit. Because we are over. Our overtime is where we make our big money. Then we paid a lot more taxes so now we don’t have to pay taxes on our overtime up to a certain amount but still I’ll take it. Well it was so nice to meet you guys I have to get back to work. Thank you very much pleasure to talk to you too. It was nice to talk to you too. I got to go in here and check out what’s going on. Thank you so much. Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone and welcome back to the channel from Prudhoe Bay which is also known as the dead horse. Yesterday we finally arrived here after a 5 day ride from Anchorage. We covered more than 1000 miles in distance. We rested for a day in Fairbanks and the rest of our days were for riding. The landscape was very diverse. It was a very nice ride. In the beginning, there were national parks, high mountains, jungles and the last 70 kilometers were mostly flat. And then we had to deal with all kinds of weather conditions in Alaska. Rain, snow and strong winds. Anyway, we enjoyed it and this is what happens in an adventure when you reach a place like this. Our plan for today is that we will leave from here and go back to Fairbanks. It will take us about 1 to 2 days. I think it will be difficult in a day. Let’s see if we can stop somewhere on the way, camp or book a hotel. There is nothing special in this city except these camps. Because this area has been made for such people. We also spoke to a local lady who said that some tourists have just started visiting here. You can see that all these doors are made in such a way that they will close as soon as you leave them. Because bears come here. They have kept another door behind the first one for security. There should be at least two doors. We had toilets here and this was the room. We just pick our luggage and leave. (prayer for journey) May I have a safe and blessed day ahead. You can see the caribou along the road. They passed by our camp earlier. They have beautiful horns. There is only one grocery store in the whole town. All the travelers have come here and put up their stickers. I showed you that in the last video. There is nothing else here. It’s cheaper here. We paid 7.4 earlier and it’s 7.14 here. We paid 7.5 here. They have put up 4 cans to fill. You can see the petrol station trucks and their warehouse. They also supply gas. Maybe it’s for the other hotels. Was it hard? It was right here. She ran to the river. But she wouldn’t die so we had to get close. Jump out of the car. You can take pictures if you want. Where are you guys from? From Pakistan. Do you speak Spanish? Where are you from? Brazil? Spain. We killed one rebel. We saw a lot of grizzly bears. A lot of big grizzlies. How far from here? In the river. I have an airboat. Do you guys see the airboat? It’s also an airboat. Five miles. On any side of the pipeline. It’s only bow and arrow. Five miles out there. You can’t use a motorcycle or ATV. Nothing right here for five miles. Just walk. So you walked five miles with the… No, no. This one right here. This one we shot right here. To use a rifle you need to go five miles to shoot. This is bow and arrow. Bow and arrow you can do it on the highway. No off the highway. Okay guys, enjoy. Have a good day. There are so many mosquitoes here. I am surprised these people can stand here like this. In Alaska, you should carry a bow and arrow. So that you can hunt along the road. So many flies here, man. Yeah. Oh man, no. It’s crazy, huh? Yeah. So, finally we have reached the pass. We are lucky that it didn’t rain here yesterday. A lot of trucks pass by here. So I think the surface will be better. Yes, it’s better. It’s much better in this area. It’s slippery, but it’s still better. It’s not an issue if you ride carefully. Another good thing is that it’s not a big pass. It’s just a couple of curves and then you reach the top. It’s fun to ride a pass like this at 700 cc. You own the power. If I had 300 cc, I would have been behind. That has its own advantages. That’s a light motorcycle compared to it. We have reached the top. Where we had a short break that day. Oh, I should not go along the side. So, welcome to Coldfoot. We reached here at 8:38 pm. We will sit here and decide the next step. We will fuel up the motorcycles first. There is a restaurant here. If food is available there then, we might have it. There is a hotel here as well. You can get accommodation here. What a crazy ride it was. The last 70-80 miles were amazing. It was fun to ride. The dinner has been served. There is rice, beans, vegetables, lemon and sweets. I think it will be a good dinner. There was no fish here. We opted for buffet. We can eat as much as we want. But we will eat according to our hunger. I think Mexican food is very popular here. Mexican food is very common wherever we go. It was like this last night as well. It is the same today. The beans in Mexico are similar to black eyed beans. They are very liked. Finally, our tent is ready. It takes 5 to 7 minutes to set up for a single person and less time if two people are setting it up. It is a very easy setup. The weather is good today. It is around 6 to 7 degrees. At night, it might be 3 to 4 degrees. It will be cold here. But there is no rain forecast at night. The forecast for rain is after 11 o’clock tomorrow. If you check the weather app within a couple of hours, it might have changed. When we checked in the afternoon, there was no rain forecast for the next two days. But if you check in the evening, there is rain forecast from 11 o’clock tomorrow. So we don’t know if it will rain in the evening. But it is a good waterproof tent. I hope we won’t have any problem. By the way, we have the same tent and mattress. Finally, our luggage is packed. It rained a little here. The tent is wet. So when we reach Fairbanks at night, we will dry the tent there. Because if the tent is wet, it can get bad if it stays in the sack for a few days. It can be contaminated with fungus. So we will try to dry it and pack it again. There is a restaurant nearby. Let’s go there. Let’s wash our face and get ready. Let’s see if we can get something to eat there. Today we will have a ride of about 6 hours. If we add breaks in between, it will be 8 hours. So we will reach there by evening. Our breakfast is here. Today we have French toast. American servings tend to be big, no matter what you order. But today it doesn’t look like having American breakfast. But I have yogurt. I have kept it in my bag for a long time. The temperature outside is 3-5 degrees. So it doesn’t get spoiled. I have paid $14 for it. There is syrup with French toast. And we have coffee here. I think we will have a good breakfast. Then we will eat in Fairbanks. As expected, as I told you yesterday, the forecast shows it will rain at 10 in the morning. The rain has started. It is pouring heavily. You can see my orange jacket. I have put it on. I will be needing it. When a person wears a lot of clothes, 2-4 layers, the body movement gets disturbed. The jacket gets tight. But it is the need of the hour. It will be very difficult to reach there without it. All the extra fuel we had here, we have refueled the motorcycles with that. And we have filled up the remaining fuel. After about 150 miles from here, we will reach Fairbanks after refueling from the fuel station. Fuel is expensive here. So we don’t need to take the fuel we are carrying with us to Fairbanks. We will refuel from there. We thought to save a few dollars. It is raining, but we have to leave. (prayer for journey) May I have a safe and blessed day ahead. Let’s see how the roads are today. After rain, they are all muddy and slippery. Let’s turn the heating on. My hands are fine now. But if I forget to turn the heating on, then they will get cold. They will take time to get warm. Yesterday’s weather was amazing. And today, it is what it is. I think a biker got into an accident and left his motorcycle here. Earlier when we passed by, there was no motorcycle. A horrible accident it seems to be. May he be fine. Helmet was broken. I think it was Triumph Tiger 800. So welcome back to Fairbanks. We have reached here after 5 days. Now we are going straight to the car wash. So that we can get the motorcycle cleaned first. The rest of the tasks can wait until later. I think it’s right there. It will get cleaned here. Finally our motorcycle is clean. Look at the beautiful rainbow behind me. Amazing They are two of them. The cleaned motorcycle looks beautiful. Now we have to clean ourselves. We paid $17 to get it cleaned. We didn’t even spend half an hour. It took 15 minutes each, in fact, 12 minutes. Now we are going to eat at Dominos Pizza. Our pizza is here with mushrooms and black olives. We ate pizza that day as we were hungry. The pizza is good and cost us $10. It’s cheap here. This is our apartment where we are staying today in Fairbanks. This is my room. We paid $140 for it. So far I think one of the cheapest in terms of quality. We got two rooms in this apartment on rent. So anyway let’s rest now. I hope you liked the vlog. Remember me in your prayers. Don’t forget to Like, Subscribe and Share. Bye.
