The footage was taken in Fukutsu City on the evening of August 10th. Muddy water is flowing onto a road in a residential area, turning it into a river. At the same time, two people, a man and a woman, were swept away about 100 meters away. According to several residents, the two were a couple in their 70s, and their bodies were found a few days later off the coast of Munakata City. One resident said he saw the two being swept away from the second floor of their house. One resident who witnessed them being swept away said, “It wasn’t so much that they were walking, but that they were practically being swept away, like they were slipping. It all happened so quickly. It was really just… so quick.” Reporter Hayasegawa Kenya: “The two people who died were swept away from the flooded road towards the river.” Another resident clearly remembered the situation at the time. However, when checking the location where the couple were swept away on Fukutsu City’s “disaster prevention map,” it is found to be just outside the “probable flood inundation area.” Continuing our investigation into what was happening at the time , we found that the Motokigawa suddenly overflowed at around 5pm on August 10th, the day the couple are thought to have been swept away. A resident who has lived in the area for over 30 years looks back on the situation at the time like this: The head of the local neighborhood association Hanada Takaoki: “When I moved a car at 5pm, the water had already reached this level.” Hanada Takaoki: “As I was walking towards my house, the water suddenly rose.” Reporter: “Quite suddenly?” Hanada Takaoki: “Yes, suddenly. So you knew the pond had burst.” Reporter: “How did you know that?” Hanada Takaoki: “That’s because they’re familiar with the geography of this area.” Hanada Takaoki: “That’s because they know which ponds are connected to which rivers. ” The “pond” the residents are talking about is an agricultural reservoir connected to the Motoki River. It has been designated a “disaster prevention priority agricultural reservoir,” as if it were to burst, it could cause damage to houses and other structures. Hayasegawa Kenya, reporter: “The levee has collapsed, and now it has been patched up with blue tarps.” It is not known when the levee collapsed, but residents’ testimonies suggest it may have been related to the sudden rise in water levels. A couple were swept away and killed in an “unexpected” area on the disaster prevention map, despite the local government issuing an evacuation order. Fukuoka Prefecture’s disaster prevention officials, in the Fukuoka Prefecture Disaster Prevention Planning Division, are concerned about how to prepare for disasters that exceed expectations. 8月の記録的な大雨で、福岡県福津市では男女2人が川に流され亡くなりました。

その後の取材で2人は避難中だったとみられ、防災マップの想定区域の外で流されていたことが分かりました。

◆男女2人流され遺体で発見

8月10日の夕方、福津市で撮影された映像です。

住宅街の道路に濁った水が流れ込み、川のようになっています。

同じ時間帯、100メートルほど離れた場所で男女2人が流されました。

複数の住民によると、2人は70代の夫婦で、数日後、宗像市の沖合で2人の遺体が見つかりました。
