(lol) Riding the train in the rain drained our energy, so we grabbed a bite as soon as we arrived. I eat like crazy to replenish my energy. We browsed through various shops in Ginza, but couldn’t find a pot or helmet we liked—so we headed to Awajicho. Now we’re seriously hunting for a helmet. Bad weather really drains your energy just getting around. It might look like we’re just taking a break, but we’d actually been to several shops before that. Low pressure = time for sugar. After the break, we continued strolling around a bit more. We finally bought a helmet in Shinjuku, and decided to continue the pot hunt tomorrow. While we’re out hunting for a pot, we’re also doing a bit of early morning activity together. If you want to enjoy cycling in summer, it’s best to get going in the morning. My handkerchief is always a crumpled mess. I’m using the bag I just bought recently! Since we cycle around a lot, I’ve been thinking about how to avoid getting sunburned. The helmet we finally got yesterday is from a Taiwanese brand called “KPLUS.” It’s still chilly in the morning, and the breeze feels nice. But after just five minutes of riding, I get hot and end up taking off my jacket. My partner is already way ahead of me, silently leading the way as always. First stop—our favorite bakery, Sunday Bake Shop, for breakfast. It’s been a while since our last visit, and I’m already so happy! Their lemon cake and carrot cake are in a league of their own. I always end up getting the same baked goods, but honestly, everything they make is amazing. That white glaze on the lemon cake—it’s especially incredible and unlike any other! Next up: the carrot cake. The cake is moist, and the frosting on top is super rich! I’m sorry I can’t explain it better, but it’s on another level. I gave my partner a bite of the carrot cake, and he was totally shocked by how good it was. (smug) The plant shop we were eyeing still hadn’t opened yet. So we took a little café break until the shop opened. It’s a three-story café, and the sunlight streaming through the windows feels so nice. Once the green shop opened, we retraced our steps and headed back. (lol) This flower shop is actually run by the bike store BLUE LUG. We came to look at pots, but got totally distracted by the cute goods. This dinosaur keychain is too cute… Confession time: I’m 34 and I love dinosaurs and space. Alright, back to the pot hunt. In the end, we bought a cute pot—and a cute little dinosaur too. Had lunch, then headed back home. After our morning outing, I came home and started cleaning. We repotted the plant into the new pot—well, *he* did. We went with a blue pot. I’ve been editing videos nonstop since then, and now I’m starving. Once I start editing, time just flies by—because it’s fun. We drilled a hole in the bottom of the pot, but totally forgot to buy a saucer. For now, we’re using a plastic storage lid as a substitute. We usually cook rice for lunch and freeze the rest—that’s just how we do things. Even though I just cooked it, I hold back from eating because I want to save room for sweets after dinner. New sandals, go to the hair salon Unboxing It’s about 8:30 in the morning right now. I have a hair appointment at 11, so I’m planning to work at a nearby café until then. It’s finally sunny today after so many rainy days, so I can finally wear these new sandals I bought—I want to show them to you! These are from a brand called OAO. In summer, you often end up showing your ankles, right? Since I’m short (155 cm) and want my ankles to look slim, I prefer sandals with thick soles, but it’s been hard to find ones I really like. Last year, I wore OOFOS almost all the time. But OOFOS don’t really pair well when I want to wear something more polished. This year, I was determined to find the perfect pair of sandals. I found these online, booked a showroom fitting, tried them on, and placed an order. They just arrived the other day. First off, the sole— it’s made with VIBRAM soles, which you can recognize by the yellow logo. They’re known for durability and grip. The sole is up to 7 cm thick, which is pretty thick, but surprisingly light. The sandals combine calf leather with soft neoprene that gently hugs the ankle. The top part is nice leather with a premium feel, and the heel is made from a soft material— so I figured there’s no way I’d get blisters. That’s why I bought them. This part has velcro straps, so you can adjust the width to some extent. Pretty neat, right? At first glance, they look sporty, but the leather gives them an elegant touch. They’d look great with a black long skirt or full-length pants—so I bought them. I’m definitely wearing these out today. They’d look cute even with socks. I put on mismatched socks to show the contrast better. It’s like a magnet color match. Of course, I’m riding my bike again today. Now that I’ve got a helmet, biking is even more fun. The early summer weather feels amazing! In my new sandals, I’m in such a good mood. Since work has calmed down a bit lately, I’ve been editing videos. Starting the day with my favorite breakfast set. At Bourbonne in Daikanyama, the space is super comfy with lots of windows. I’m doing a final check on my London travel vlog. No matter how many times I review it, I still miss mistakes. Time to get my hair colored. My stylist always delivers exactly what I envision—every single time. We’re chatting and sharing travel stories while she works. People often ask about my hair color (which I really appreciate!). For the past year, I’ve been asking for a red tone that’s not too sexy-looking—without bleaching. lol After some fun conversation, my hair’s all glossy and perfect—love it! Craving rice, so I’m having lunch on a bench. When I miss the timing to eat lunch and come to Daikanyama,
I usually grab something from the FamilyMart inside the building and eat at their eat-in area. Since I’m already out, I’ll stick around this area and get some more work done before heading home. I always aim for a window seat—need that sense of openness. But summer’s approaching, and I’m terrible with heat… so I may be reaching my limit with window seats. How can we survive the summer in the concrete jungle of Tokyo? My plant’s new leaves are growing super fast. It’s 9 a.m. now. After hanging the laundry, I’m heading to a café. Before I go, I want to show you the UNIQLO pants I recently bought. Ever since I started cycling, I realized jeans are too much for long rides. Denim fabric is stiff and rough, and now that it’s basically summer, I sweat way too much. So I went looking for a better pair of pants and found these unisex gear shorts from UNIQLO. They’re called “gear shorts” because they have a utility pocket here. There’s a zip pocket on this side,
and it’s mirrored on the other side too. There’s also a buttoned pocket on the back. The waistband has an adjustable belt. So you can tighten it to fit your waist. The material is breathable, and so far, it hasn’t shown any sweat marks! Riding a bike in these is super comfortable. They seem easy to style too, so I really like them. That’s about it! I’m dressed like the bug-catching boy from Pokémon. Lately I’ve had a little more free time from work,
so I started editing videos—then realized I really need to move my body. To get some sunlight, I moved to an outdoor table. When I stay home all day, my step count ends up in the double digits—shocking. Even just going outside in the morning makes me feel great for the rest of the day. I know everyone says it, but getting some sun really helps keep your mind healthy. Since I work from home, I need to be intentional about going outside. Now that I’ve refreshed myself, time to get to work! I have lunch plans with a friend. It’s hot again today. I packed a lipstick that goes well with today’s outfit. It’s 9 a.m. now. I’ve got plans to meet a friend this afternoon, so I’ll get some work done at home until then. I’ve been buying books lately, but haven’t made much progress reading them. That’s because… I’m editing our honeymoon vlog! I just can’t move on with anything else until I finish editing it all. So I’ve got to push through the edits—
I want to preserve these memories in vlog form soon! This dinosaur keychain I bought recently… You might be thinking, “How old are you?” But hey, age doesn’t matter! The leaves are getting bigger day by day~ When I have fun plans, I get extra motivated—
so I try to wake up early and get work done before heading out. Since I was in the mood, I decided to prep a side dish for dinner. I’m making shrimp with chili mayo using shrimp marinated in sake. It’s an easy dish, but shrimp are pricey so I don’t make it often. (Just adding garlic on a whim.) Corn sautéed with butter and soy sauce—made in advance this morning. And carrot salad (carrot râpée). Heading to the restaurant where I’m meeting my friend. We finally went to “Shokudo Kado,” a place I’ve been dying to try—
and had a gigantic grilled salmon set meal. After lunch, we stopped by a nostalgic candy shop. *laughs* Bouncy balls aren’t really about playing with them. Then we had a picnic at a nearby park. It’s still cool enough in the shade to enjoy being outside. We had a full day of picnicking, tea time, and dinner—talked non-stop into the evening. Went cycling with my partner to Futako-Tamagawa. In summer, I rely heavily on UNIQLO tank tops. Worked up a nice sweat—perfect time for ramen. Chinese noodles with clam broth and pork soup. What will it taste like…? Well, here’s my answer. Ramen tastes especially amazing after a good sweat in a cool place! We took a leisurely ride along the Tama River. Ah, people are already BBQing—yep, summer’s here. Lots more people than I expected—having picnics and families playing in the river. Now we’ve made it to Jiyugaoka. Time to cool off somewhere. Today’s high was 29°C. More than a drink, I’m seriously craving ice cream. Oh wow—that looks so good! I heard that ice cream served in containers with lids tastes better. (I’ve got high hopes.) I felt like I could handle a triple, but decided to keep it classy with a double. Ice cream + cycling is just too perfect.
We’ve figured out our ideal way to enjoy summer. Of course, the ice cream was absolutely amazing…! After getting home, I decided to make plum syrup while watching the new season of “The Bachelor.” I got home all sweaty, changed, and slipped into another UNIQLO bra top. I found some delicious plum syrup at Kaldi,
so I debated whether to make my own this year—but decided to compare the two. I always end up binge-watching “The Bachelor.” And it’s always fun to pick your favorite contestant. Last year, my plum syrup ended up fermenting…
So I hope it turns out better this time. It’s the rainy season. I’m not really a fan of going out on rainy days. But one morning I thought, “Might as well walk for my health,” and strolled to the park. Instead of people’s voices, I could really hear the sound of the rain. Since I actually liked today’s rain, I decided to capture it on video. By the time the next vlog is up, the rainy season will probably be over.
