How much I eat in a day to cycle across Japan! 🇯🇵🍛
This is how much I have to eat in a day to cycle across Japan. On today’s agenda, we’re finally wrapping up with Tohoku with a 50-mi day of riding from Kosaka to Hakodate. Today was a little bit of an early start because there’s a ferry I have to catch this afternoon. So, I got up and rolling through quite a mystical morning of riding through winding, quiet mountain roads while I listened to an audio book about the Mongol Empire before pulling into a roadside rest stop for some breakfast. Some people say that Waties is the breakfast of champions, but I’d say that a nice little tonkatu set with a side of showyu ramen and some guoza might take the cake instead. Everything here had that kind of home style irregularity to it. You know, a little bit punchier, maybe some different textures than usual. The best kind of meal. As I got pushing again, most of the route was filled with rural highway riding before eventually rolling through some small local communities where I saw a house in a normal old neighborhood that had a garlic vending machine that they sold their produce out of. The weather was getting a little bit gritty, but I eventually rolled into Out where I wanted to try some of their local treats before the ferry took off. So, first I tried the spot selling their miso curry milk ramen with butter, which was easily the most unique style of ramen I’ve ever had. This bowl had so many elements from the corn to the butter to the miso to the curry, but they all synergize to create a warm, sweet, salty, and aromatic bowl. This isn’t on my local styles tier list, but if it was, it would definitely be an S tier. Then for dessert, I found this unmanned 24-hour sweet store where you go in and choose the items you want, select what you ordered on the tablet, and then pay the corresponding price based on the honor system. But I’m going to eat these goodies on the boat. So, I went and picked up my ferry tickets, got my bike all secured, and said farewell to mainland Japan as I embarked on my 2 and 1/2 hour ferry ride to Hakodate. On board, I first tried out this dessert on a giri, which was a berry cheesecake wrapped in a crepe and also some apples that were coated in sugar. The apples themselves were great, but they definitely didn’t need the extra sweetness. Once I made it to Hakodate, I checked into my hotel that ran me about 60 bucks. Then for dinner, I wanted to try a Hokkaido specialty. So, I tried this soup curry that was loaded up with these zangi, which are healthily seasoned Hokkaido style deep fried chicken and a medley of like 10 different types of vegetables. In all my time in Japan, this was easily the most aromatic thing I’ve had. It’s like normal Japanese curry, but a little bit less viscous and much more potent. So, so good. See you guys tomorrow.
This is everything I eat in a day on my bikepacking trip across Japan! Today, we travelled from Kosaka to Hakodate!

Would that ramen however be at the top of S tier if it was on your list? Because that looks so mouth wateringly good, Josh!

I apologize as I know you probably get this question a lot, but are you comfortable explaining what the red on one of your hands is? Is it just a birthmark? I just keep noticing it in videos and I've been wondering, but couldn't find anyone else asking
My friends and I had soup curry in Sapporo! It was my favorite meal in Japan, beating out the Kobe beef I had
Whoevers reading this, Jesus Christ is real and king. He died on the cross for our sins and we must acknowledge that. Lastly, remember to live for his word.
