高市早苗新総裁へ:日本🇯🇵を愛する者からのメッセージを聞いてください A Message for Sanae Takaichi
Congratulations to Sanae Takaichi on your appointment as President of the Liberal Democratic Party LDP and upcoming Prime Ministership. As a foreigner who loves Japan and has been going back and forth to Japan for the past 35 years, I’d like to say a few words . I’m Steve from Steve’s POV. Thank you for watching, and please subscribe. I’ve been going back and forth to Japan for many years, and I lived in Japan for about 5-6 years back in the 90s. I’m not Japanese, but as a foreigner who loves Japan, respects Japanese culture, the Japanese language, Japanese traditions, and the Japanese national character, I’d like to say a few things to you. I feel like the changes between 35 years ago and today are too rapid . In the past, Japan was associated with luxury brands, the world’s number one manufacturing nation, “Made in Japan,” and the world’s highest quality, unbreakable, and durable products that could last a lifetime . While that’s still true, the image of Japan as a manufacturing nation has rapidly disappeared. I’m sure there are still many things being made, but I strongly believe it would be good if Japan could return to its status as a manufacturing nation . As an American, I’ve never really experienced Japan’s unique traditional culture, Japanese way of thinking, or the wonderful traditions that exist within a single country, even though we’re all Japanese. When I first went to Japan, of course there were times when I couldn’t communicate, and there were things I didn’t understand, but I found it fascinating and amazing. It was precisely because it was different from my own country that it was so interesting. There were so many unique things about Japan that I gained even more respect for it. Soon, I felt like that way of thinking— maybe it ‘s just within Japan, or maybe it’s just a small percentage of foreigners looking at Japan from the outside—was starting to grow. I wondered if those people had truly respected Japan while living and sightseeing in Japan , or if they were just enjoying cheap, fun things like drinking, having fun, and so on—and I think it was a shame that Japan had suddenly become a place where it was innocent even if they caused a little trouble. In the past, there were places where foreigners weren’t allowed to enter, and I didn’t think of it as discrimination because it was Japan, but rather, “This is Japan, so as a foreigner, I should try to fit in as much as possible.” I used to think that it was natural, but my way of thinking has changed so quickly. Compared to 35 years ago, Japan is a beautiful country. There’s no trash. The security is great wherever you go. There’s no trash anywhere. Even without trash cans, it’s amazing how there’s no trash. This is what’s so great about the Japanese. Recently , I’ve been going to Tokyo, Osaka, and other places, but every time I go, I wonder what’s happened. I wonder why this is happening. There’s gum everywhere, and trash everywhere . What’s up with Tokyo? There’s no graffiti to begin with. The occasional graffiti sign is a sign of public safety. Simply put, it may not be as bad as the American media reports suggest, but please use common sense and think about it . There are so many videos everywhere of drunk driving, various criminal fights, and how the police are completely disrespected. I’m not afraid of the Japanese police. Even if you get caught, it’s common sense that you can do whatever you want, considering the consequences . I like them. If you’re innocent, you’re not afraid. As long as you don’t think about the fact that you’ll end up in trouble and get caught, you can do whatever you want. Personally, I’ve heard people around me overseas, in America, in Texas, and elsewhere, think that this mentality is normal. However, looking at Japan today, foreigners, no matter what they do, say to the police, or even get caught, even if they do something like sneak around a police vehicle, don’t get arrested. The Japanese police don’t take action. I think we need to rethink this a bit and come up with various countermeasures . I want to go to Japan, Steve. But when I watch videos like those on Instagram and X, I see Japanese people saying they don’t like foreigners, and it ‘s amazing that they’re doing something even if it’s just a little. That’s not the case. If you take this approach, people might naturally say that you’re doing everything right as long as you respect the differences between your own country , but that’s not true. It’s different because it’s wonderful. There are so many things you can’t experience in America, so many foods you can’t eat, so if you think that Japan’s unique features are something you can respect because they’re what America doesn’t have, then there’s no problem. But I’ve noticed that many people who watch the same videos have no respect for Japan at all. I wonder why Japan is so keen to bring such people into Japan today . Perhaps there’s a need to reconsider this. But, you know, foreigners are making a fool of their culture. When it comes to the question of where this idea of ”you can do whatever you want in Japan and do anything you want” comes from, I think it’s Japanese people, not just young Japanese people, but Japanese people themselves, who are more important than age. They need to love and respect their country. I want to tell young people, young Japanese children, that Japan is an amazing country . Japan has developed this, invented that, and has contributed a lot to the world. There are many things in Japanese history that people may say, but you weren’t alive at the time. You were born now . I don’t think it’s good for the current generation, those working for Japan’s future, to feel responsible for things that weren’t their fault. Japan has contributed a lot to the world. As long as Japanese people respect foreigners, they’re welcome. I’ve always felt that Japanese people are broad-minded and kind, and want people to enjoy their country and culture, but sometimes I wonder if they have enough pride in being Japanese . As a Japanese person , I believe there is nothing to be ashamed of in what I have gained from my life . I also take pride in being an American. It’s fun to advocate for and teach others about Japan’s positive aspects in America. Japan is interesting precisely because it’s different. Different cultures and different ways of thinking require respect. Japanese brands don’t need to be cheapened or devalued. I believe that cheapening Japan is not a good thing if it is to be respected. So, Koichi-san, as a future leader, I believe that many people understand that things have changed so rapidly and that we must restore normality to the common sense of ordinary citizens. I know that you will face criticism for standing up as a strong leader, but I hope that you will do your best as a strong leader, both from within and without. As a foreigner who loves Japan from the outside, I would like to say a few words . I heard that President Trump, the US President, will be visiting Japan soon. I think this is a wonderful opportunity to hear Koichi-san and Trump’s ghost story. Trump respects people who love their country . Trump, you know, is a good negotiator. Trump is an America First person, and naturally, he puts America first through the American president, but I think there are probably many people all over the world who don’t respect leaders who lack patriotism. Yes. People who love their country . I think that meetings and conversations with people who are proud to be Japanese are essential for smoother future Japan-US relations. Former Prime Minister Abe and Trump were very close, weren’t they? I hope that Japan-US relations will continue to be like this . President Trump recently stood in front of the UN and said some things that he shouldn’t have said. Loving your country is everything. Differences between countries are everything. This world is wonderful because there are so many cultures and unique cultures . That’s what it is. Japan is Japan. Japan is a country of the Japanese people. It’s wonderful because Japan has its own unique ways, ways of thinking, culture, etc. That’s why I want to go and respect him from the outside. It’s the same. I think that if that was the first thing that I had in mind when I was talking to Takaichi about President Trump, and if there was a patriot in the room , I think we could have a better conversation. As a car lover, There are some good things about it. He’s 70, but there are also photos of old motorcycles , and it seems like he even wore colored masks. It’s cool. I feel like a lot of car and motorcycle enthusiasts are touched by the love for their country, so I hope that from now on, you will work hard as a leader, pouring your love for Japan into your heart every day , and restore a wonderful country like Japan. I ‘m cheering for you as a foreigner as I can from the outside. Good luck. My name is Steve, from Stevete. Please subscribe to my channel. This book was published in July . It’s available on Amazon Japan. Well, it may not be directly related to today’s topic, but it is. There are many things written about the rapid changes that have occurred in both the United States and Japan, so please order it on Amazon. It ‘s also available in bookstores, so please order it at your local bookstore or online . There are also exclusive merchandise from the biography of Steve Texi. There are caps like this, and this one about Japan-US relations. T-shirts and various stickers like this are in stock in Japan, so if you order, we can deliver them faster. Please check out the Stevepov.jp website and Amazon Japan. I always think that if you don’t occasionally leave the place you’re used to, the place you live in, and the country you live in, you won’t be able to see the good things about your own country. You’ll only be able to see the bad things. Looking at Japan from the outside, from America, it’s a wonderful country. But things have changed so suddenly that we’re in a somewhat unstable situation right now, so I hope that Takaichi-san will take strong leadership and show the world how wonderful Japan is once again. Please protect Japanese culture within Japan. I think you will be respected even more. So let’s live each day with a positive attitude, in the style of Sumzap . Thank you. Until next time, excuse me.

First of all, I am from Japan, and I truly appreciate your comment. However, there are slight misunderstandings we have out here. I do not believe you as a visitor, had heard enough “silent majority “ voices. Majority of People who are happy to associate with foreign visitors are generally polite liberal people. Conservatives on the other hand , avoid “offending visitors “ thus tend to be silent of their thoughts. It’s not to say I disagree with you but you may be underestimating Japanese conservative youth movement. Take a look at Sansei Party’s advancement , that is exactly the silent consecrative voices. I believe it is same in US as well. Foreigners doing whatever they wish on the streets of so called sanctuary cities? Another thing I would like to mention is the conservative majority believes Japanese liberalism is a result of a US post war policy greatly influenced by Soviet Spies, that is the biggest Taboo even in US, I believe you have heard of Venona File and Harry Dexter White. I personally am proud of Empire of Japan history . After all , Japanese Imperial House is the oldest and continuous single monarchy in the world . Japan refuses to become republic, it is still a constitutional monarchy nation. Strong reversal of extreme liberalism is occurring in both US and Japan, and that is great. President Trump is the best thing happened to US and the world after extreme lefts are plotting to create chaos and eventual revolutions. I believe Takeuchi San the Iron Queen, would be his best counter part. International means patriotic nationals find its way to compromise and respect each other, not becoming country-less world citizens. God bless USA and its constitution,
