2025 Kyushu Touring #2 ~First day in Kyushu~ Good morning, this is Naka. On board the Ferry Sanflower. Yesterday, we boarded the ferry from Osaka and arrived in Beppu. We are now disembarking. Yesterday, a typhoon occurred and we were informed that there was a possibility of significant delays, but we docked at Beppu Port in Oita Prefecture at 6:55am, right on schedule. There was not much rocking on the boat and it was a comfortable voyage . Now, it’s time to land in Kyushu. Disembark. September 25, 2025, 7:25am. Landed in Kyushu. The weather has improved and it’s a pleasant morning. Thank you for bringing me this far. Route traveled approximately 360km on the first day in Kyushu. We have begun our Kyushu tour. What kind of trip awaits me this year? Next time I come, it would be nice to visit the hells. We are taking the highway all the way to Miyazaki. We have arrived in Miyazaki . The palm trees along National Route 220 make me feel like I’ve arrived in a tropical paradise! It makes you feel like this The weather is good and your spirits are rising Turning left, we head to Horikiri Pass Horikiri Pass has a wonderful view Roadside Station Phoenix Oni no Sentakuita I found a place where I could take photos with my bike Be careful , it’s a pleasant road It’s a scorching hot day today The coolness inside the tunnel feels pleasant I came across a place that looked like it had a great view so I stopped by “Oni no Sentakuita” The seabed rose over a period of about 7 million years and in the process it was washed by the waves to form these wavy rocks Turning left, we head to Udo Shrine Oops, don’t stop here We can see Udo Shrine Arriving at Udo Shrine “Udo Shrine” A shrine facing the Hyuga Nada Sea in southern Miyazaki Prefecture. The main shrine is said to be enshrined in a cave on a cape jutting out into the sea. Udo Shrine is also known for the ritual of “Undama Throwing,” in which men throw the ball with their left hand and women with their right hand from the square in front of the main shrine, making a wish. If the ball lands in a depression in a rock called “Kameishi” about 12 meters away, your wish will come true. Nichinan Phoenix Road, Nango Roadside Station, 28km to Cape Toi. I stop at the toll booth at the entrance to Cape Toi and prepare my money. The toll for motorcycles was 100 yen. From here, I drive carefully, watching out for horses. I wonder if there are any horses. I go further in , the scenery is great and I can look at it for a long time. When I get back on my bike, I’m surrounded by horses . Sorry, my bike was in the way, lol. The horse got mad at me . I’ll retreat before it gets mad again. Excuse me, I ‘ll go a little further. I’ve arrived at Cape Toi Lighthouse. Cape Toi Lighthouse parking lot . I go up to the lighthouse. It seems to be the only lighthouse in Kyushu that you can climb. Climbing the lighthouse, it’s about 60 steps to the lighthouse reception for a great panorama . The fee to view the lighthouse is 300 yen. Enjoy the panorama . It was a spectacular view . Now, I’m heading to my lodging for the day. My first day on the Kyushu tour . I was able to fully experience southern Kyushu. I arrived at my lodging for the day.
