Hidden Gem Hike | Bear Creek to Panorama Point, Evergreen

Good morning. We are hiking today. We are
hiking to Panorama Point, which is just over, it’s just over six miles and 1100 ft of elevation.
This is one of my favorite areas to hike, bike, all that in. And we’re about 2 miles in at
this point. Up, up, up. There’s a long flat section that passes by a castle, which I’ll show
on the way out. And then in a river, Bear Creek, and a creek called Bear Creek, not a river.
So, yeah, hiking today. It’s a very nice day. It’s been raining all week. Try to get in and out
before lunchtime. It’s around 9 9:15 right now. Let’s do this. Okay. I kind of want to show
some of my gear, what I hike with. This is an Osprey backpack. I’ve had this one. I’ve
had this for years. I got it a number of years ago when I was biking, commuting to work
all the time. It has a suspension off my back, so it’s not touching my back, which
is nice. It’s this netted suspension. has all kinds of pockets and etc. See, so I have
my rain jacket, although it doesn’t look like it’s going to rain today. The weather app said it
might. And it had been raining all week, so better safe than sorry. Light rain jacket. Favorite
snacks. I found these a few weeks ago and now I’m obsessed. Highly recommend this to me. Yeah.
Water, some coffee, cuz it’s still a little early. Okay, we’re kind of perched on a nice sitting
area that people take a break at sometimes. Yeah, let’s get a little water and then keep
on hiking. Make some coffee, too. Feeling a little dewy. Little dewy this morning. There’s
a lot of humidity from all the rain over the week. Hopefully, he’ll dry up today. The rain is good.
It’s been a lot of fires around here lately. Okay, let’s get back on the trail. (People chatting) Okay, we are on the lollipop loop section of
this trail. Most of the hike or the elevation is behind us. And we just passed the main uh
panoramic point. I’m trying to get a little space. There’s a little bit of a crowd at
the point, but this part is beautiful, too. See that area? started getting some shade. Thank goodness
because I forgot to put sunblock on my arms. So, it’s nice to have a little bit of shade.
Part of the reason I like this trail so much is that there’s so many pine
trees everywhere. Ponderosa pine. It’s a lovely spot to be. Let’s see if we can find a good spot to have
a snack. I’ve passed a number of rangers and volunteers walking the trail. It’s the most I’ve
ever seen out here or on a hike in general. Must be training for something, I suspect.
Maybe I’ll ask the next time I see them. I feel like I’m in a treehouse, which is a very nice feeling
to be up in the trees. I’m trying to limit myself to
two cups of coffee this day. My shoes. I prefer trail runners
when I’m out here hiking. I feel like the wide toe box and the
soles just being a little more flexible uh keep my feet from hurting so fast. And
hard hiking boots, they’re so stiff and firm that it um just limits my foot mobility. It
hurts me more. So, I try not to wear hiking boots unless I absolutely have to. So, these
are my trail runners for the past couple years. Okay, let’s hike down a little more. Gosh, I can’t even see myself. Okay, let’s
hike. I’m up on this perched in this rock. Let’s hike down some more to see
if we can get that other view. Aster. I love these native species, especially color. Just good views everywhere. I’ve got that Zoom life. Okay, I just
I just stopped and talked to a ranger. She said that the group of people that are
walking around with walkie-talkies that I thought were like volunteers, rangers, or a
70 plus group from a town not too far away. and they’re all out here together, some sort
of Facebook group. And it’s kind of threw me because they all have walkie-talkies. We’re
not that far out. It’s a pretty well-known trail system. But hey, better safe than
sorry with all those walkie-talkies. I myself carry in-reach when I go. You hear
these stories about hikers that get lost. You never know. Don’t know if that’s happening
because they’re new to hiking or if it’s just a freak incident. Who
knows? But it’s good to prepare. Okay, still in the loop. Just walking around. All right, we are hiking back down
the mountain. I’m feeling refreshed and grounded. It’s great great
weather. Good temperatures today. Nice and sunny for the most part. It feels good.
My feet feel good, which is excellent. Excellent judge of a hike or trail run. If my feet feel
nice after us down to be at the creek soon, bikes are starting to come up, which
is a tell of the time of the day. Yeah. Thank you for joining me. I appreciate it
as always and I will see you in the next one.

Come with me on a beautiful day in Evergreen, Colorado as I hike one of my favorite local trails — the Bear Creek Trail to Panorama Point. This hike winds through the tall pines of the foothills, with peaceful stretches along Bear Creek and wide-open views from the overlook. If you’re looking for a Colorado hiking trail with forest shade, mountain scenery, and a rewarding finish, Panorama Point in Corwina Park is a classic.
