Recommended Trailhead start:
We began at the McMurray trailhead, but it had a steep grade and a lot of traffic. I would recommend one trailhead up at Linwood. It wasn’t busy and had a bathroom.

Facilities:
There are over 40 trailheads and rest areas with bathrooms and water every few miles or so. There are also three primitive campsites. The water fountains are seasonal; however, there are multiple businesses in the small towns along the trail that are accessible for food and drinks.

Bike Shop:
There is a fantastic bike shop right along the trail. It is really a destination. They rent, fix, and store bikes, have bathrooms and parking; and refreshments..

Hours:
Closed Monday
Tues-Sat 10am-5:00pm
Sun. 10am-4:00pm

Trail Condition:
Excellent. The trail is mostly crushed limestone, with a couple small, paved sections.

Food:
Being an urban trail, there are multiple towns along the way to obtain supplies. The signage along the trail is fantastic and lets you know how far the next town is.

Best picnic spot:
I loved the Quicksilver bridge at MM 14.4. It was just a very different looking bridge. There was a trailhead and picnic spot at this trailhead. We did not have a picnic on this particular ride, but if we were to have stopped, this is where I would have wanted to go.

Lodging:
This was a multi-day trail ride for us, so we stayed at a central location to be able to get to other trails in the area in addition to the Montour. We typically choose a hotel with free breakfast so that we can fill up, get plenty of coffee, and grab some fresh fruit for a snack along our ride.
