Japan is a unique country made up of 47 prefectures. My goal is to ride them all. This is project 47. [Music] Hey, good morning. Oh, we got a uh got a decent sleep last night, which is nice, even though it was really windy. Great tent. Um plan for today is to make some coffee. Looks like it’s going to be a pretty decent day. It’s already already blue sky overhead. Bit hazy out on the bay. But um yeah, we’ll make some coffee and then um we’re just going to hit the road, start cruising around the bay. Um see what we can find while we go. So if you are in Japan, you need to get rid of your garbage. Uh community stores always have trash cans, but it’s recyclable, so you got to separate things. Here comes the protein, bro. No question. The coast road to the south is just a leisurely cruise. This is a main road for a lot of people who live and travel to the area, so expect some traffic. But with ocean views to one side and mountains to the other, I was in no rush. After a couple hours, I figured I’d stop and get some lunch before heading towards the volcano. Nothing like good curry on a a long day’s ride. Delicious. This is really good. So, you can see behind me up there, that’s uh the volcano. It’s just erupted yet again. So, we’re going to be going up there today. Far out, man. The eruption from Sakurima meant that I’d have to chill out for a little while and it would probably eat up some of my riding time today. I figured I’d just take it easy and look for a campsite that was a little bit closer for tonight. After a little while and my batteries were nice and charged, I decided what the hey. Let’s hit the road. see what uh see what it looks like. Turned out it wasn’t so bad. Cruising down along the coast road, I came across Sugara Shrine. This cool little island shrine is well worth a visit. As I entered Kirushima City, I saw something else that caught my eye. Kagoshima Triumph. I’ve been meaning to stop by, considering possible off-road upgrades. This is the Tiger 900 Rally Pro down here at uh Triumph Kagoshima. It’s kind of a a beastful looking bike. Kind of like that. Okay, so this is the 400X scramble. I’m in love with the 900 Icon. 1200’s pretty, too, but those exhaust too close to where my gear goes, so they kind of takes that out of the picture for me. But I got to say, look, it’s the tiger. To be honest, I could have stayed there all day. So many beautiful bikes. And the owner, Kado Matsuan, not only knew his stuff, but he was a lot of fun to hang out with. But the road was calling me. Sure, my new campsite was a lot closer, so I had some time to kill, but I was keen to see what else I could find on the way. Just down the road between Kirishima City and Kagoshima, I saw a sign for another waterfall. And well, you know what that means? Ruman Falls is a sight to be seen and a welcome break after a long day on the road. [Music] But winter days are short and the sun was already getting low. It was time to get some supplies and head off to my campsite for the night. [Music] [Music] Hey guys. So, we’ve uh reached our campsite for night number two. Did a really quick set up before it got dark and uh got the uh the GB parked out the front here. Again, I won’t park her in the tent cuz I want to use that space just to get back and lie down, do some stretching and stuff like that. Okay. And we are set up. That’s all my gear minus some food all tucked away. My little red room, little red hotel. Sweet. [Music] [Music]

  1. 4:06 This is a cool spot. Stayed overnight in a little AirBNB within a two minute walk of there with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. It’s a good spot for swimming and fishing. The AirBNB wasn’t glamorous by any stretch of the imagination but the location is great.

  2. Can't believe you didn't get a famichiki. That curry looked great though. I'm always surprised at how many people live around the volcano. You'd think the constant ash would be bad for respiratory health. Those triumph tigers are cool. Norman Reedus has one. Did you censor the speedometer because you were speeding?
