Hello! This time I’m traveling to Kumamoto alone.I arrived at Haneda Airport around 2:30pm.My first trip to Kumamoto! I’m really looking forward to it♪ I’m heading to Aso Kumamoto Airport on JAL.I used the great “Anywhere Miles” for my flight ticket.It ‘s time for the drink service.A steady consommé soup. Delicious ♡ It took us about 1 hour and 40 minutes to arrive. Aso Kumamoto Airport has a new terminal building that will open in the spring of 2023, combining domestic and international flights. It has a distinctive modern design and is said to use a lot of wood from Kumamoto Prefecture! Transfer to Kumamoto city on a fashionable roof bus . Head to Kumamoto Sakuramachi Bus Terminal for dinner. The ride takes about 50 minutes and the fare is 1,000 yen. Above the bus terminal is “Sakura Machi Kumamoto,” a restaurant and fashion store. We came to the restaurant area on the 3rd floor! There are tables and counter seats in the store.Kumamoto’s specialty “Akagyu bowl” This is a “Akagyu specialty restaurant” where you can eat high quality Akagyu beef raised on our own farm at a reasonable price.Plenty of Akagyu steak grilled to medium rare♡ It comes with a soft-boiled egg.The meat is juicy and very delicious.It ‘s even more delicious when you eat it with the soft-boiled egg! The meat was more tender than I expected, and I was impressed . This soup was also delicious♪ It was so delicious that I finished eating it right away. After eating the delicious meal, I went to “Kumamon Village” on the second floor♪ I found a cute coin purse with lots of Kumamon souvenirs ! I’m going to buy it ♡ I don’t like limited edition items, so I also bought a cotton bag.I was able to buy some Kumamon souvenirs, and then I headed to the hotel.I took the tram, which is convenient for getting around the city.To the nearest station, Torimachi-suji, it took 3 stations and cost 180 yen.Shopping This time we will be staying at OMO Kumamoto of the Hoshino Resorts Group.It is located right after getting off the tram, about a 1 minute walk.The reception is on the 3rd floor.After checking in, we went to our room♪ Amazing! It’s like a secret base.I take off my shoes.As I walk through the back, I see a spacious sofa on the lower level.I go up the stairs.There were two futons on the upper level.The storage for bath towels is stylish.The hair dryer is Saronia.The walls of the bath are tiled, giving it a retro feel.The shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are also clean.The restrooms are also clean.Today ‘s outfit is unique for both top and bottom. Socks are so cute! ♡ I came to the 3rd floor of the hotel. OMO Kumamoto seems to have live music every night. There was a cafe, so let’s have something to eat ♪ This drink is made by blending Dekopon and craft cola from Kumamoto. I really like the flavor ♡ The sweetness of Dekopon is accented with the spicy cola and it’s delicious! ! The smooth and rich cheese melts in your mouth and is delicious♪ It ‘s as delicious as a cheesecake specialty store.You can eat delicious cake while listening to live music and go out to the relaxing terrace.You can see Kumamoto Castle! The view is very nice and it’s very comfortable♪ I forgot to take it when I checked in, but the amenities are next to the front desk. I also choose room wear and take it here. I came back to the room, brushed my teeth, and went to bed. I went to bed late. Good night. Good morning. I’m going to have breakfast ♪ I can eat breakfast at the cafe I ate at last night. For breakfast, you can choose one of 5 types of main dishes. You can refill your drink as much as you like. Coffee was also available . I had the French toast. It comes with minestrone soup and salad . It comes with plenty of fresh cream ♡ It’s fluffy and looks very delicious! Moist inside ♡ Delicious with a melt-in-the-mouth texture! The sweet potato and citrus sauce on top goes well with French toast, and the natural sweetness of the soup vegetables is good.As for the salad, the lotus root chips were delicious♪ After eating, I had some coffee.It’s a shame, but it’s time to check out.The OMO Kumamoto staff were kind and it was a nice hotel.Today we visited Kumamoto Castle and the cherry blossom field. I would like to go to Josaien ♪ I will take the tram. It is one stop and the ride will take 2 minutes to get to Kumamoto Castle/City Hall. I will arrive at Kumamoto Castle/City Hall. First, I will head to Sakura no Baba Josaien ♪ It is about a 5 minute walk from the tram stop. As I was walking, I could see the long wall of Kumamoto Castle! When you walk to a place with a good view …! There was a bronze statue of Kato Kiyomasa, who built Kumamoto Castle .♪ At the foot of Kumamoto Castle, you can see “Sakura no Baba Josaien.’ ‘ Over 20 shops selling Kumamoto’s famous gourmet food and souvenirs are lined up in a streetscape that recreates the castle town of the Edo period. There was a Kumamon at the entrance. It ‘s so cute♡ I want to eat all kinds of things ♪ Grilled Kumamon dolls! ! Which flavor should I choose from the various flavors ? I chose the most popular cream flavor♪ It ‘s pretty big and fits in the palm of your hand. It’s made with wheat and rice flour from Kumamoto Prefecture, and there’s so much cream in it. The dough is soft and chewy, and it’s not too sweet, making it easy to eat. Sakurama Toro Sushi! looks delicious! Thank you.The 2-piece set cost 600 yen.The horse pork sushi is wrapped in fragrant seaweed and drizzled with garlic miso sauce.It ‘s so delicious! ! The garlic miso sauce and fatty horse meat go together so delicious! This is recommended! ! I wanted to eat horse sashimi, so I came to Yamamichaya. Grilled red beef on a lava plate. Lava-grilled red beef bowl . Horse sashimi set meal . We also have dago soup, a local dish. I ordered the horse sashimi separately . From the top, it’s a lean mane marbled ♪ First, let’s start with the marbled meat! No smell, fresh and great! Next is the mane , which has a plump texture and is sweet and delicious.The next is the lean meat , which is my favorite! You can really feel the flavor of the meat and it’s delicious! It’s been a while since I’ve had horse sashimi, but I was so impressed by how delicious it was. I don’t usually get to eat horse meat, so I’m glad I was able to enjoy fresh horse sashimi in Kumamoto! The color of Akaushi’s lava-grilled meat is absolutely delicious. By grilling it on Yamamichaya’s famous lava-grilled lava plate, it locks in the flavor of the ingredients and makes it moist and fluffy! There were 3 types of lava grilled beef on the menu: “Horse Meat”, “Akaushi”, and “Horse Meat & Akaushi”, but I decided on “Akaushi”♪ It’s served with the restaurant’s homemade secret sauce.It ‘s so delicious! The secret sauce that spreads the tender, high-quality meat’s fat is refreshing and goes well with Akaushi. I didn’t order it this time, but if you eat it with rice, you can eat as many as you want.I’m not a big fan of vegetables that come with yakiniku , but this sauce was so delicious that I could eat it all.This was my first time eating Akaushi on my solo trip to Kumamoto, and both Akaushidon and Lava Grilled were so delicious that I became a huge fan of Akaushi.I ate it all! After enjoying the gourmet food, we will head to Kumamoto Castle! Purchase admission tickets Sukiyamaru’s stone wall There are traces of damage caused by the Kumamoto Earthquake. This is a photo before the damage. The castle tower is now visible . One of the famous spots of Kumamoto Castle is the dark passage (Kuragari Tsuuro). The underground passage under the floor is said to be a rare passage even in Japan . We finally arrived at the castle tower! ! It’s so cool! ! I was so moved by the coolness and beauty of the real thing that it was bigger and more impressive than I imagined , so I looked at it for a while.Kumamoto Castle was built in 1607 by Kiyomasa Kato and is one of Japan’s three great castles.It was damaged in the Kumamoto Earthquake, but the castle tower was completely restored in 2021.Let ‘s go inside! The castle tower is a 6-story building.The structure and history of Kumamoto Castle are expressed through illustrations and models, and it was worth seeing.There was also a model that you could actually touch.I climbed to the top floor.The view of Kumamoto’s cityscape from the castle tower was very beautiful.It was fun to learn about the history of Kumamoto Castle.Kumamoto Castle seen from this angle is also cool♪ I bought a castle stamp.It ‘s cool with an illustration of the castle tower! Next time I would like to go back to Torimachi-suji for dessert . The ride takes 2 minutes and 1 stop. We arrived at Torimachi-suji . We came to a Japanese confectionery shop in the Kamidori arcade. The popular menu item is the new-style dorayaki “Ansandora.” Now that we’ve paid, I’d like to eat it inside the store. It’s made with special dough made from Kumamoto’s long-established sake brewery’s sweet sake “Mizuitaka” and Uki’s lotus root! Amazing! This is the first time I’ve ever made such a luxurious dorayaki.The rare kettle-fried green tea that doesn’t use pesticides or chemical fertilizers has no bitterness and is easy to drink.The transparent and beautiful color of the matcha-flavored dough contains fresh cream, matcha mousse, gyuhi, and red bean paste.This is really delicious ♡ The dough is fluffy and chewy♪ Maybe it’s because it contains amazake and lotus root? It’s completely different from the dorayaki I usually eat. The combination of matcha mousse and red bean paste is outstanding! It’s not too sweet and you can eat it quickly ♪ The Ansandora was so delicious ♡ Thank you for the meal. I’m heading to the airport. I’ll take a ride to Karashima Town. The ride takes 7 minutes and there are 3 stations. I saw Kumamon at the Sakura Machi Kumamoto Terrace where I came yesterday ♪ I will head to the bus terminal on the 1st floor. I will take the bus to Aso Kumamoto Airport. The ride will take about 50 minutes and the fare will be 1,000 yen. After passing through the security checkpoint on the 3rd floor, there will be a souvenir shop, so I’m looking forward to it! There are stores where you can buy Kumamoto souvenirs and restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy gourmet food.A shop that sells Kumamoto’s specialty “Yama Uni Tofu”, which has a taste that reminds you of sea urchin.I tried it and it tasted like sea urchin, so I bought it.I had “Sakura Umatoro Sushi” at Sakura no Baba Castle.A horse meat specialty store.The combination of fatty horse meat and mustard greens is the best.I bought it without hesitation (lol) Delicious! I like it! The melt-in-your-mouth horse meat and the salty taste of the mustard greens go well together, and there’s a crunchy soy sauce inside. This soup had horse meat in it and was delicious. Kumamoto was full of delicious gourmet food and I had a lot of fun. While I was relaxing, it was time to board a plane. They told me I could get takeout, so I got it as a souvenir.
