Oita Solo Ride – Bike Crash, Epic Roads & Ocean Camping | Project 47: Ep 4

Join me on a Triumph Scrambler 400X for 3 epic days riding through Oita Prefecture — from rare vintage treasures to dramatic mountain passes… and an unexpected crash at an abandoned shrine.

Trip Highlights:

🏍️ Iwashita Collection – A hidden museum filled with rare cars, bikes, and eccentric memorabilia.

🛣️ Yufuin & Yufu Mountain roads – Some of Japan’s most scenic twisties.

🌊 Ryumon Falls – A huge twin waterfall with stunning views.

⛰️ Ura Yabakei – Towering volcanic cliffs and dramatic stone formations.

💧 Oike Pond – Crystal-clear spring water gushing from the mountains.

💥 Abandoned shrine mishap – The day took a turn when I dropped the bike in an eerie, forgotten temple.

🏕️ Ocean-side moto-camping – LoneRider MotoTent, campfire meals, and sunsets over the water.
From bizarre museums to adrenaline-filled twisties, tranquil coastal camps, and one unforgettable crash, this ride through Oita packs in Japan’s best roads and raw adventure.

  1. 私もScrambler400Xに乗っています。とてもいいバイクです。
    ところで、レギュラーガソリンを給油していましたが、ハイオク指定ではなかったですか?
    I also ride a Scrambler 400X. It's a very good motorcycle.

By the way, you were filling up with regular gasoline, but wasn't it specified as high-octane?

  2. Adam, thank you for the great ride! you are giving me great riding ideas to explore my own backyard. Even if I have visit most of these places already, but never on a bike, it is always much better on a bike. I decided to definitely visit Iwashita's Collection and check out the Museum. Great editing as usual!
