The Soft Kill (1994) Mystery & Thriller film

I had two when I came in. The only dryers ain’t socks. And I thought you and your socks were sleeping over. Sorry,
baby, we can’t. Six months of this and still no gazing at each other over breakfast. Aww. I look like hell in the morning. You did promise me. Yeah. I thought you liked things the way they were. Sexy… Jack, I need your help. What,
haven’t I done enough? No,
I mean with the case. Oh. I’m serious. Oh my. Yeah, since when? no,
no, it’s okay, it’s okay. Martin’s just going through his mail, he loves it. We’ve been drunk, he just likes looking at his name. Will you… help me? For you? Jack! Your jacket! Great. Brilliant. No wheels. What happened? Martin, why aren’t you in San Diego? How many times do I have to show you? This door is a little warped. Push it, deadbolt, or it won’t lock. Just like Jack. Just like men. Are you listening? Martin? Such an early start. It’s not like you, Jack. Trying to get a head start for once. Out so late, up so early. When do you have time to sleep, Jack? Ah, sleep. A chance to dream? Well,
Hamlet, I bid you a final farewell, and good morrow with your new home in Oregon. Would you like one of these for your lady friend? No, thank you, Mr.
Ferriolo. Women like roses. Love. The greatest thing two people can share. No,
no, Mr.
Ferriolo. Uh-uh. Red.
It’s the greatest gift two friends can share. Not to worry. I took it out of your security check. Oh, that’s… One day, Jack, you will not want to die alone. Leaving town? No,
Vinny, I’m baking a cake. That’s funny. Running away, Jack? Quitting? Again? You know, seeing you always reminds me why I left the force, Lupino. No,
not left, Jack.
Quit. Quit, quit,
quit. That’s what you did. You quit. Nothing but a big quitter. Good. Right in the heart. Yeah,
like you had. All right, let’s go. I’m in kind of a hurry right now, Vin. I said, let’s go. Write me a postcard. Ben wants you. Take your hands off, Ben. I’m only going to say this once. Okay. Well,
then, shake a leg. Oh, Yes, I definitely saw Captain Hook, Captain Kid, or Captain French. Sitting where? About there. Not sitting, driving. He was driving this big yellow ship. Yellow ship. Saw this pirate right over there. and was he fierce. I was so frightened I had to wiggle a little brandy just to calm my nerves. Just one, maybe two. They
want to see Martin. He spent the night in San Diego. He’s on his way back now. He’s got witnesses. Up the ass. Bankers, lawyers, all sorts of respectable captains of industry attended a stirring speech he gave last night about fucking crime prevention. Good old Marty. I was eager to press the flash on him. You think somebody did Kimberly to get at him? Could be. DAs piss off a lot of the wrong people. Why not just do him? Looks to me like somebody was pissed off at her. It does, huh? Yeah, it does. Hey Jack. Hey,
Shelly. How are you? You all right? The body’s clean. House too. No sign of forced entry on either one. So, sport. Kimberly Lewis ever do anything to piss you off? You still doing PI work for her, Jacko? Yeah,
here and there. More like here. You did it right here, didn’t you,
stud? I gotta listen to this. Guys. Did you see Kimberly last night? No. I say you did. Got a light, Ramsey? Um, no. Yes. Yes! I told you, Ben. I told you, I knew it. I knew it! Ben? What? I’ve seen this lighter of yours a hundred times- a thousand times! Different woman, always same lighter. It’s like signing your name to the murder. Alright, Ramsey.
I’ll give you round one. I’ll run you back. I want you to tell him. I’ve already moved out of my fucking house. My truck is packed already. One day, two thoughts, before we get this fucking mess sorted out. Don’t be such a stranger, Jack. Want one? Oh,
I’m sorry, man.
Kate made you quit. I forgot. I’m sorry. No,
it’s okay. I’ll get you one. Are you sure? Yeah. Seems like old times, huh? Yeah.
And you cruising the streets? Yeah. Cruising the bad old city. Oh,
man. You never change, do you,
Pants? You’re still listening to the same shitty oldie station. A little change will do you good, then. Ah,
thought changed. Things only put to after the inevitable. I’m excited to see what’s going on. All right. I eat, sleep, go to work. Every fucking day. Fine.
It’s fine. Maybe you could take a little break for a while. You know,
from going to Catherine’s grave so much. Quit coming? No,
just not come so often. I don’t neglect people I care about. I’m sorry, man.
I know we haven’t been able to hang out as much as we used to. You know,
I’ve got this case load now that’s a bit heavy. No explanation necessary. Really, it’s cool, Jack. I see Catherine out of respect, love. I have a grip on things. Oh,
I know you do. I just know that Catherine more than anyone else would want you to, you know, to move on. Jane’s funny that way. Never really leaves you. Could it be a story? What? Guy from one of Kimberly’s stories with an old score to settle. Old score to settle? I kind of doubt it. Kim was a gossip columnist, not a secret agent. Yeah, you’re right. I’m reaching. Any suspect knows who I’ll call me. Okay. Jacko, don’t slip out of town on me, okay? Right. Hey.
I want to make this unofficial, but I still can’t. I got nothing to hide. Don’t you, Jack? No. You fucking positive? Yeah. Kimberly Lewis, personal day runner. Martin, San Diego, J.R. You told me you were at home, J.R.? You lied to me, you fuck. Ooh, ooh. Hit you in the house. Maybe I stood around. Alright,
I was there. But I was there early. Is this now the truth? The truth is I didn’t kill Kim. That’s the truth. Why should I believe a fucking word? First it’s no, Ben,
I wasn’t there. Then it’s yes, Ben,
I was there but early. Tomorrow will be yes, Ben.
I did it, but I had a good reason. I had no reason to kill him. This day runner is good circumstantial evidence. You know that. You were there. This proves it. The why Vinny will find later. Count on it. Fuck, Jack. You had the suspect list of this. No more lies, Jack. Are you sure? Are you? Alright, no more lies. Good! Excuse me. Jack Ramsey? Yeah. Do you have a minute to talk to me? Um…
Mmm… The lever, it’s… They think it’s right… Um… Right… To your right. I’m Kimberly Lewis’s sister. I didn’t know Kim had a sister. Well,
we weren’t very close. We’re very different people, I guess. Burnt orange. It’s my daughter’s. This isn’t going at all how I expected it to go. It’s okay. I already love your choice in crayons. Is there… Can I help you something? Yes. I… I… Want to hire you. I’m sorry. I’m leaving town in a couple of days and I… You mean about Kim? Yeah. I’m sorry. I wish I could help you, but I can’t. I know who killed her. What? Martin. Martin killed my sister. Do you have proof? I know it. I need you to prove it. I must sound crazy. Enlist.
You have the most perfect nose I have ever seen. I know my sister trusted you. Ben McCarthy’s in charge of the investigation. He’s a fine detective. The best. Yeah, and Martin has probably already bought off the entire police department by now. I need your help. To convict Martin and find Kim’s killer. They’re one in the same. Thanks, but… I can pay whatever your rate is. I didn’t say I’d do it. I promise you. I think Wasn’t bloke, only. Yeah, I always get down. Shut in at the front. You’d think it’d have a stain on it. Mark some trace of… I can’t believe that it’s… Remained so clean, nude, like nothing happened at all. Something did happen here, Martin. I’d forgotten. Kimberly hid the good stuff. Defining Kimberly’s killer. Now, I assume you summoned me here for more than drinks, right? Cut to the chase, huh,
Jack? No time for small talk. Never liked small talk. Came with a note. From? Manny Ortega. A drug dealer. I put him away for eight. He got out in two. First degree manslaughter, right? State settled for two. That was a good bust, man.
That was fucking solid. That’s right. You were the arresting officer, right, Jack? Well,
you should know that. Yeah,
I know he stood up and he swore he’d kill you, and it took half the courtroom to get his hands off your throat. His exact words were, I will kill you. I will kill your family, your children. I will have my revenge. I will taste your blood. That’s catchy. And I found it so fucking funny when I found this dangling over my front door. You trying to tell me Ortega killed Kim? Who the fuck else? He’s crazy enough, he’s a fucking psycho. What has he got to lose? For Christ’s sakes, Jack, he was in my fucking house! What do you want from me? Go tell Ben McCarthy what you know. The police think that I did it. I thought you had an ironclad alibi. I do. So? So I would like to prevent Manny Ortega from straining the life out of me. With my election coming up, I would also like to have a clean name. No loose ends, no doubts dangling in the minds of the voters. I think Kim needs her killer count a lot more than you need your name cleared. Your next case, Jack, you’re making me sick. I wouldn’t have thought you’d like to have your name cleared as well. I’m not the only one who would suspect him. Catch a piece? But you said we were just talking to him. Well,
sometimes talking don’t do the job. I don’t have to tell you that. There
he is! There he is. Right,
right. I’ll get him. I don’t know where the universe is, but I’m going to try to see how I’m going to see if there’s a way. Here we go. Hey! Where is he? Hey! Shit! We lost him! Don’t assume. I don’t know. Let’s go. Back it up. Let’s go. Go.
Here. Why you running, Manny? It’s a free country, man!
Back for you, you piece of shit! Get out of there! Get up! Ah,
what? What is it? Huh? Ah,
what’s this? You carrying a peace up for all? Goodbye, freedom, you fuck! Come on! Get up! Come on! Get up! Get up! Get in! Get in there! Manny! Get out, Manny! Come on, you piece of shit! Get out here! This is your life, Manny! Come on!
Come on! Where were you last night, Manny? I was at home. Anyone with you? My mother. Wrong answer! She’s at home. All night. I am not listening to fucking lies, Manny. Ah! You killed her, didn’t you? I killed nobody. You hung that noose, right? So we know it was you. No, no,
I wasn’t at home. You slowly squeezed the life out of her, huh? No,
I killed nobody. Made her struggle, hear her scream, make you feel like a big man. Fuck this shit. Let’s just pop a cap in his ass, save the state some money. Easy,
Bente. I was there. You killed Kimberly Lewis. You killed her. Say it. Stop!
La Muerta! La Muerta. La Muerta? La Muerta? Dead? Yeah, dead is you! No,
no, no,
Ben. The feminine, La Muerta, is talking about Kim. She was already dead when you got there, right?
No vi nada. No,
no, no,
you saw something. Someone. Who? Yo no vi nada. What the fuck does that mean? It means I saw nothing. What’d you see, Manny? Nada.
Nada! Nobody. Nothing. They’re just getting us fucking nowhere. Who knew he’d be so fucking delicate? Shit. Pretty bad. Ignore the shit that killed Elvis. Yeah. He left. Any shots in here? Shots?
What do you got? Pictures. You got the pictures? All right,
give me those. Which ones do you want? Well, the crime scene. Where do you think? Fine,
here. Okay, here.
All right. Look at this. See this? Yeah. Okay. You see how these little marks go up like this? So? So Ortega couldn’t have done it. Ah,
the fuck you say. He had molded and ten opportunities as good as gas. Right. Everything but size. Look at this. What the hell are you talking about? You have my undivided attention. See?
Well, if you’re going to do it, do it right. Come on, is that the best you can do? Christ, Jackal, you’re strangling it like a faggot. What’s that? Okay, okay. Okay? Okay, okay. Okay. Oh.
Oh, yeah. Okay. See that? Yeah,
you made your point. Yeah. Kim was 5’9″. He would have had to have been at least two inches taller to do that. Yeah,
I guess so. Because that clears our tank. But it puts him in the hospital either. Manny! Good news! You don’t have to die after all! Fuck! Oh! Christ, Sammy,
what is it, rocks? Top of basics, man. Martin had money, he had opportunity. Yeah,
and the brains to pull it off and leave you holding the bag. So Martin’s got full access, Kim’s money. Why’d he kill it? Huh? Why’d he jeopardize his career, his upcoming collection? Why’d he do that? Well, could be he got tired of going over this fucking hat in his hand every time he needed a couple hundred Gs. Yeah. What,
no chairs? What’s that right there? What’s the matter with you? Could be he caught her banging some guy. Could be she caught him banging some guy. Nah,
he’s too busy loving himself. Yeah,
you’re right, he’s such a cold fuck. Books? Christ, Jack, I never figured you for so many books. You really read all these? Yeah, most of them. Catherine loved to read. Bindings aren’t even broken. Most. I say you read a few. Very few. I’m careful with them. It’s like you treat your books like you treat your women. Oh,
yeah? Read the first chapter, then toss them away. Fuck you, man. Where are all these fucking women? Can you see them? I can’t see them. All I can see is your ugly face. And you’re lucky to be looking at that. Yep.
Yeah. It’s him. I’ve been doing some check legwork on my own. Busy brains are happy brains, Vin.
Yeah, make jokes now, Ramson. Turns out that old lady isn’t as off as we thought. A one-eyed hippie cabbie turns up John Doe on the morgue last night. Or a black patch over his eye, like a pirate. Like Captain Kidd. The dispatcher tells me he works the night of the murder. So I come down here and check his locker. What do you think I find? Anyone? This poor deadhead’s last fare is at 12.05 a.m., 354 South June Street, drop-off 8106 North Willoughby, 10 minutes late. Ring any bells, Ramsey? One’s mine and one’s Kim’s. So what? You see that, buddy? Jack,
how could… You fucking told me you were there, but early. I can’t explain this, man. I can. You lied. Why would I take a cab from my place to Kim’s? I’m a cop. Ex-cop. I’m not that stupid. You said no more lies. Some upset me. Two murders, Ramsey. First,
Kim. I figure you pop her in a lover’s quarrel. Not a chance. Forensics guy said she had sex just before she died. But not with me, Ben. I want to make sure I’m dead this just right. What? You have the right to remain silent. Oh, shit.
If you give up, the right to remain silent. Vinny,
this isn’t going to hold water, man.
You know that. What’s the matter with you? Ben,
I’m being fed up. You have the right. Someone is setting me up. To an attorney. Vinny. What do you think this means? You got Ben all twisted around, that’s… But I’m gonna make this right. I can bet on that, my friend. Ben! Ben. I’m going to have to think about what I’m supposed to do with Mr. Ramsey. Mr.
Ramsey! Have you considered taking my case? I am considering, uh, all kinds of shit right now. What about Martin? Do you believe me? I believe someone is trying to frame me right now, that’s what I believe. Martin’s capable. So,
are you going to take my case? I should take my own fine case of what I should do. Martin gets half of Kimmy’s estate. Good motives. Yeah. Who gets the other half? Her closest living relative. You? Also a good motive. Seems ironic that closest would mean me. You know, I still can’t get used to the idea of you as the black sheep. I know I’m right about I’ll keep you posted. There’s a fucking nerve showing up here. I need your help. Get out of my way. Someone’s going to an awful lot of trouble to make it look like I did this. All right, I didn’t tell you, but if you’re full of shit, I’m sorry. I’m sorry? And that’s supposed to make everything fucking right between us? All right,
I’m not a perfect fucking person, Ben.
You’re a better man than I am, okay? Stop saying that. Shit.
You’re the only one I can trust. Trust is a two-way street, Jacko. Boy,
you know, I’m really sorry. You have to go, don’t you? I just have a couple more questions. This will just take a minute. You moved to L.A. You said your father’s funeral. Initially, yes.
Initially, yes.
You two weren’t tied up. That’s me. Hadn’t seen him in a couple of years. Right. Just like your sister. The old man sort of disowned you, didn’t he? Yes,
he did. That’s a… Just a piss job. Good,
huh? Hmm? I didn’t expect anything from my father. I was on my own, I was working, and I didn’t need him. Cookies? Cracker? Candy? What? Sure you don’t want? No. Oh,
that’s right. That’s right, sir. That you didn’t want anything. So your sister dies and leaves you half of everything, which is nothing personal. It’s just that you’re the last one living. Nothing personal at all. Am I a suspect? Well,
that would seem to follow, wouldn’t it? Am I under arrest? No,
no. That would be too easy. Jack Ramsey strangled a life out of your sister. I’m going to prove that. You’re going to help me. You have no choice. Marky Mark is making his move, Mom! Are you ready? Uh-huh,
I’m all set. He’s getting closer. Also on. Madonna’s playing hard to get again. Mom, that guy’s looking at us. Yes? Let me see. He’s coming over. Where? He’s definitely heading straight for us. Allison, let me see, please. He’s got a kid. Now. Jack! Jack? Do you know my mom? Allison, this is Jack. Jack,
this is my daughter, Allison. How do you do? What are you guys doing? Um, we’re working on her science project for school. Oh, rocket scientist, huh? These are hers. Mom records what I see. See what? It’s really cool, Jack. Want to look? Yeah, thanks. I’ll give it a whirl. I’m staring at her. Um, do you mind? Thank you so much. Now,
what exactly am I looking for here? Anything that looks like reproduction. You know, sex. Allison. I think I can handle it. Try Chuck and Di. They’re always at it. Allison. It’s only nature, Mom. Don’t stop! You might miss something! Oh… God,
I hope not. Anything yet? No,
they’re still pretty darn reserved. Well,
keep watching. Things can change awful fast. I hope so. Allison, why don’t you watch for a little while? I need to talk to Jack, okay? Okay. Jack? Oh, thank you very much for the education. Fine. I’ll be right back. Did you know… That ducks mate for life. No,
they don’t. Ducks don’t mate at all. No?
Ducks mate for life. Oh.
Well, do you think, uh… I mean,
would you say that, uh… Allison’s father was more of a, uh… Swan guy? Allison’s father left us before she was born. Oh,
I’m sorry. I didn’t know. It’s okay. She seems so, um… Happy? Well-adjusted? That’s not how I met her. Allison is my whole life, and I do a very good job with her. I’m not arguing with that. Have you considered taking my case? Yeah,
I’m going to take it. I’m going to take it for both of us. No charge. Okay? Okay. And this means duck. Duck? The duck in orange sauce. I asked you to come to dinner. I didn’t, you know, say bring dinner. It’s just Chinese. Duck like in the park? You don’t have to eat it. You can have chicken. You can have vegetables. You eat duck? Look, this is duck in orange sauce. This is not Echo Park duck. It’s not Daffy Duck or Donald Duck or any of those guys, okay? What did the duck ever do to you? I think I really pissed her off with the duck. She only argues with people that she really likes. I think you had a really good time. I did. How about you? I’m a little rusty at this kind of thing. I’m an adult. conversation. I’ve never been very good at it. I think you’re doing just… So how long did you know my sister for? Um, six months maybe. I don’t know if we… She had a lot of case work for me for a while. You know, maybe Martin snuck back from San Diego and… I can’t. Well, okay, maybe he hired someone to come and do it for him. Maybe you could take your mind off Martin for just one night. I can’t. Okay. So, why did you become a cop? That was one hell of a segue. Well, if you don’t want to talk about it, you don’t have to talk about it. No,
that’s okay. I became a cop like most cops do. A desire to wear the white hat, fight the bad guys, and win. Did you? Yeah. Sometimes. Did you quit because you stopped winning? No.
I stopped wearing the white hat. Hey,
quit looking at me like that, okay? Like I fucking owe you something. No. I gotta go. Jack, I…
I gotta go. You forgot your jacket. Hello, my name is… I don’t know why Captain’s cat loves you so much. He’s never very fond of me. What stinks in here, man? It’s your free breakfast, Jacko. Great.
Dan, I think your fish are dead. Better flush them before they decompose. Feed them to the fucking cat. I was never much good with pests. I’m clearing fish and pets. Well,
they belong to me. And everybody ain’t good at keeping things alive. You’re gonna lose the car, but you certainly looks like a planter out there. I belong to Cassin. I don’t drive it. Yeah.
Yeah, we got you. Whoa, whoa,
whoa. Right here. Oh.
Nice. Really good, man. So what do you like them? No,
Ben. Just the way you like them. My house, my rules. Fuck a bunch of rules, man. Just give me open highway and blue skies. You know what I’m saying? Don’t belittle rules, Jacko. Choosing sides, drawing lines. On which ones you can cross, which ones you can’t. Whatever you say. I got it. Yellow? Yeah,
it’s me. Hold on. Vinny! Yeah,
what’s up? What?
Come here. Yeah,
where was this? Your plaza. Sure. Sure. Yeah,
great. Thanks,
Vinny. Good news. What’s that? Ortega’s no longer a threat to Martin or you. What’s that mean? Gangbangers put a bullet in his skull last night. Wait,
what happens if he saw something the other night? Your problem is solved. My problem? Yeah. Ortega can’t do or say anything. Yo,
me ni nada. Ben,
you know these rules, these lines that you cross or you don’t cross? And what are you asking me? Nothing. Come on,
you start it and finish it. Come on out with it, you fuck. You were there for Christ’s sakes. The cabbie’s log, Kim’s day runner. You got quicksand up around your neck. And you’re having second thoughts about some low-life drug dealer? Would you cross that line for me? Would you for me? I don’t know. Well then, you have your answer. Ben, you got a minute? Smug. Listen to this. Go ahead,
Faye. This is the slug we dug out of a tiger’s brain. So?
It’s a .38. It’s not gangbanger-type ammo. Cut to the chase. Well,
from the rifling, it shows that this bullet came from a short-barreled revolver, much like a detective special. Like Ramsey’s gun. Fucking sure about the type of gun? 95%. You hear that? 95%. Come on. Thanks,
Fay. That way,
Adam. You’re reaching, Benny. L.A.’s the Wild West. Even little old ladies carry .38s. Reaching, Ben,
come on. What are you talking about? You’re blind. You’re blind to any of this evidence that points towards Ramsey. I gotta tell you this. Garvey. Ben. Yeah. What’s your status? I’m good. You’re all for a living? Yeah,
I’m a graphic artist. It lets me work at home. Is there more?
Uh-huh. There’s one more. I think it’s in the zone. Stuff is good. It’s nothing special. You’re,
um, giving me the keys? Yep. Thanks. Are you okay? What’s wrong? Thanks again. No problem. Did you come here for something? Yeah,
I came for something. It’s okay. It’ll keep. No, no, I… I wanna hear. Well,
it was about the other night. You remember? I had to leave suddenly. Yeah. Explaining things. Excuses. And leaving. This kind of stuff is very easy for me, but being honest is something that’s kind of… Yeah. Ben is the reason I left, of course. You mean the detective in charge of Kim’s murder? Seven years. But lucky number seven. We were partners, Ben and I. We were like family. And then he found someone, finally, that he loved and trusted, Catherine. And I was totally behind it. I was completely, you know.
And then she died. Something happened to that. Yeah. Changed. And I ran. I couldn’t, I just couldn’t face him every day anymore. I couldn’t be near his constant pain. So I quit. That’s what I do. I ask anyone to quit on people. Hey,
what’s up with you? You sound like a complete nut on my machine. What’s the matter with you? Talk to me, will ya? But… why? When a picture’s worth a thousand words. What were you thinking? Call it poor judgment. I call it fucking Kimberly Lewis every which way. I didn’t know how to tell you. I put my ass on the line for you, and this is my fucking thank you? I didn’t think it was important. Love not important? Jack. It’s everything. It’s the only thing. Ben, this was not love. I was in denial after Catherine was killed. You think by pushing it away it makes it easier, but it doesn’t. When did you get this? It’s a mine. Let it out. It’s okay to show the vein. Did these come today? Sometime this afternoon. Jammed in my door. These were taken over a month ago, I vote martin. Don’t rule out the sister. Jane no. It makes sense kim and harris everything has everything husband house the works, suddenly out of the blue pops the long lost sister running home to patch things up. Not a chance. Well what about martin and jane together No man she hates his guts! Then watch yourself pal whoever took those is serious. So am I. It’s a little late, isn’t it, Jack? Never too late. Or too low for you, is it,
Martin? Yes,
I knew, but… But seeing it… You’re not gonna get away with framing me. I’m as guilty as Kimberly. So,
you admit it? Yes,
I’m guilty. Of a marriage made up of collecting things. Antiques, paintings, people. I have been trying to piece together my life with Kimberly ever since she died. I think children would have made the difference. Kimberly wouldn’t have any part of it, any part of me. What the fuck are you talking about? You reach a certain age, Jack. The great nothingness, your own mortality. I’m a little bit of shit, but I have my own image. Aw,
get your f***ing song and dance! The cab, the pictures, maybe Ortega. What’s next, Marty? What the f*** is next? Next on my agenda is making you leave. You gonna shoot me? I can’t get rid of this rain in me. You got one track mind, you know that Jack? I think these photos prove that. Get out. Get the fuck out of my house! Shoot me right now. I’m waiting. Hello, I’m a student of the University of California and I am a student of Jack? Hello? Yes, I am a mummy. Alice,
are you here? No,
she’s not. What happened? Martin pressed himself up against you, huh? Like this? Is that what he did? You’re hurting me! Fuck you, Jane! Stop it! You’re hurting me! Are you fucking the way you’ve been fucking me? You’re hurting me! Alice! You’re hurting me! I just talked to you. You talked and talked and talked until you finally gave in, and he forced himself on you, huh? I will scream, I swear it! How long did it take you to plan it? What? How long did you sit at your fucking little drafting table and draw up plans about how you’re gonna fuck Jack? About how you’re gonna put fucking Chuck Jack in prison? What are you talking about? I saw you in the fucking park! I saw you there with Martin! He wants Allison! Martin Langehousen? He’s her father. I was 17 years old, and I got pregnant. And I knew that my father would disown me if I tried to have a baby alone. And I couldn’t give my life to Martin, knowing what he was and what he is. He wants my baby, Jack. He’s gonna take my baby away from me. I’m so scared. I’m scared. I don’t know what to do. I’m scared. You might hear me. Trust me. I’m not going anywhere. I’m sorry. I haven’t done this in a long time. Go shy. I’ll join us. Close your eyes. Close your eyes. You open the door of the house. When you jump in, and you see this young baby, I hope that he’s not in the room. I think he should be in the room right now. If I was to pick him up, I would have to pick him up. I’m sure you would too. Why?
I’m sure you would too. You’re very good at making people feel good. You’re a very good man. I’m not going to. I’m not going to. I’m not going to.
I’m not going to. I’m not going to. Ben,
what do you… No.
He hasn’t been on a stakeout since all this shit with you hit the fan. But I’m with you, Ramsey.
I’m with you every step of the way. Ben,
are you here? I think he’s doing you a favor, running all this interference. He’s only putting off things. Then he… I don’t know a thing about him. What’s that,
right? I don’t know a thing about him? I know you ditched him when he needed a partner. I know you made it so nobody would team with him. I know Ben gave you his best, and all you did was turn your back on him and walk away. I know that. Did he tell you that? No,
he didn’t tell me that. He didn’t have to. You’re not the only one with good instincts. I hold him together. I love being a cop. I love being a good cop, like Ben. Does he turn to me or rely on me or praise me? No,
not when you’re around, because he’s too busy picking up the pieces of your miserable life. He’s my partner, Ned.
My partner. Not yours anymore. You heard him enough. Leave the law. You leave the law. Do you hear me? Oh, man. Not to… President? Katie? Jack. Hey,
man. What?
Hey, man.
Hey. Hey. Come on,
let’s catch some Z’s, okay?
Let’s catch some Z’s. I don’t want to pay. I don’t want to pay. You know,
you’re all wrong about Jane. Marty’s our boy. Sent Jane the same pictures he sent you. So, when you sober up tomorrow, you can nail her, okay? I write chapter every day. I’m a star. Ben,
are you taking anything? You know, pills or something? No. I don’t have to run if you love like you. Ben,
are you okay? Today’s the day. Stay, oh sweet, and do not ride. The light that shines, I’ll show thine eyes. This day breaks not. It is my heart, because that you and I must pardon. Today’s the day Catherine died. You know, that night, I was with Catherine. I know. She told him. She killed h******. What the hell does it make now? Unless you weren’t drunk, so you could take the spoon out of me. Fucking lay me out. Do something. You’re my only friend. I’m glad we got things straightened out. That’s it. Take the front. I’m going to go around. Watch this. I’m sure you’ll be just as happy to meet me at the end of the day. Garzy, it’s Jack. Jesus, buddy,
Benny’s got the whole force out. Why’d you do it? I was dead when I got there, Ben. That leaves a woman, Jack. I warned you. If that’s true, she only did it to protect her daughter. Yeah, right. And three mil in cash. Um, listen, wait at my place. You’ll be safe there. I’ll pick up Jane, ring her up for questioning. If she’s clean, she’s safer with me than on the street. Okay. Your place. This is Tanner. James. Ben. Is Jack okay? Oh,
sure. He just got himself into a little jam. He wants you to meet him back at the police station. Did he get arrested? Oh,
no. Nothing like that. Uh,
who just thought it would be best if I brought you in? Oh,
it’s okay. It’s okay, Alice. It’s okay. Alice, how’d you like to ride in a wheelchair this time? Do I get to run the siren? Yes,
why not? Cool! Uh, you all right, boy? Okay, come on. When we’re chasing the bad guys. Cool! Is this for the siren? No,
that one’s for the radio. Are you sure that Jack is alright? He will be. Why don’t we hear any police calls? What do you mean, he will be? Jack needs fixing. Like a bike? Yes. He’s broken in here. When someone’s gone, he doesn’t feel the pain. No pain. No redemption. Redemption. I thought he loved Kimberly. But he didn’t suffer the way I thought he would. This time I think he’s found the one. Once. This time I think he’ll realize. Jane,
it’s Jack. Listen. Okay,
don’t… All right. Come on, Jane.
Out of the car. Come on. He’s bigger. Come here. Come here. No,
no, wait,
wait, wait.
No, no, no.
No, not yet. Not yet. Let her go. Let her go. Please don’t. Let her go. Please don’t. Stay there. Mom!
Mommy! It’s okay, baby.
It’s okay. Ow.
Ah! Stay.
Stay. Come here. Really. Look, this is the place where it happened. Where Catherine killed, not just died, taken violently away from me forever. Like both of you would. Oh,
Ben, please. Not my child, Ben,
please. My best friend fucked my fiancé. No love, just sex. She must have felt used and unwanted when she got in the car and drove so many miles only to find herself confused. Alone the tracks train tractor to that spot By the time I got here. Well Catherine had already Should have seen her look back Let her go There you go, buddy What took you so long about Catherine isn’t it always has been that’s right. It is about Catherine it always was Let’s go back to the start. Shall we? Oh, no.
Remember this? It’s yours. Catherine just assumed it was mine when she found it beside our bed. So in a real way, it’s evidence of a different murder. You killed Catherine. Let her go, Ben. Revenge is not the answer here. This isn’t about revenge. That’s not it. I did it for you. It’s about you. For me? to teach you about now. You killed Kim for my sake? For love, first you must taste the pain. Without it, you don’t know what love means. I may have been wrong about Kim, but I’m not wrong about Jane. This loss, you’ll feel. Ben! You killed Kate! She was gentle. She needed gentle. You drove her away. She was running from you when she came here. Catherine! She’s gonna die! Oh,
God, no! It’s me! I’m the one you want. I’m the one that had Kate. I fucked her. You bastard! Bastard, but so are you. She wanted out from under. She couldn’t breathe. She was scared. I worshipped her. Took care of her. You v******* her. She never belonged to you. She never loved you. Come on, man.
You gotta see things for what they were. You must understand how much I love her.

  1. No ideae what to expect in this movie lets hope it's a good one.Super movie like the theme music at begining of movie sound needs to be better

  2. Save for the ridiculous blurring of the sexy parts, this was well done, terrific actors, a literate script, and a welcome absence of cat chases, explosions, and prolonged fight scenes. Thank you for this.

  5. Can't watch a movie that has completely unnecessary full nudity (even though blurred). Although many thanks for blurring, I quit watching. Interesting that the comments vilified the censorship, but NOT the objectification and exploitation of a woman.
