$100 in Japan is NOT ENOUGH 🇯🇵 S8 EP 101 | Pakistan to Japan Motorcycle Tour
Assalamualaikum everyone and welcome back to the channel from Tokyo. I have already made many vlogs of this city, but there are still many tourist sites that I have not visited. Also, I have been getting a lot of questions about how expensive this country is, especially when you are traveling as a tourist. So, what are the daily expenses? So I thought to show you the sites that I have not visited yet. Along with that, I will also share my daily expenses with you. Including breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, public transportation. I will share all the information with you so that you can get an idea. Today I am not alone. I have Arif with me. Arif may not be in the video, we are traveling by motorcycle. Partly we will use motorcycle and public transportation. So let’s go and show you Tokyo and the cost of traveling here. Here is our breakfast for today. We will have eggs in the morning with jam and toasts. Look at the cute milk container. My coffee is here. Let’s put it in it. They have brought only for one person. Arif does not put milk in coffee. So I thought not to waste it. Here we have ordered some extra toasts because the serving was less. So the place where we have come to have breakfast, it has many branches in Japan. It’s called Komeda Coffee. If you order coffee here, then you will get a toast and an egg for free. It will come as a platter. So this is about 750 yen. You can say that it is one of the cheapest breakfasts you can get here. But normally if you go anywhere to have breakfast, order a coffee or a cake or something simpler, it will cost you 1200 yen. Now we have ordered extra toast, so it becomes about 1200 yen per person, which is quite normal here. So if you convert it into dollars, it will become 7 or 8 dollars. Let’s have breakfast now and then let’s go to the city. Here you will find some petrol stations where people fill it up, but some are self-service. Arif told me. We have refueled around 11 liters for 1800 yen. Now I am supposed to tap it again. Now it thanked me. Yes, here comes the receipt. Let me see. Okay, first it deducted about 6000 yen, then returned the remaining money. So here, 1 liter costs 165 yen, which is about 1.16 dollars. In Pakistan it is about 330 rupees. Arif is checking the tire pressure. He has Kawasaki Ninja 1000. Today I requested Arif to explore the city. So our first stop will be in Asakusa, which is the old town of Tokyo. Let me show you that area as well. It will take us about an hour to reach there. Today I will go through the highway for the first time. Let me show you that system as well. What kind of highways are here and how expensive they are. You can see the sign of ETC here. This is the automated toll system here. We also have it. You can see the green sign of ETC here. It is integrated in this bike. It’s connected to the battery. It also has a special credit card. It is only used for ETC. The highways here are quite expensive. When we will get down in Tokyo, I will tell you. We will travel for like 20-22 km on the highway. I will tell you how much they have charged us. Personally, I find the ETC system quite complicated. You have to get this system installed in your motorcycle or car. It costs around 25,000 yen to 40,000-50,000 yen. It might be even more expensive in the cars. I find the MTAG system in Pakistan better than this. When you go there, they give you a sticker at the same time. They charge you a little around 400-500 PKR. You can use it as prepaid like jazz cash or easypaisa. You can send from your account. You should have the same special credit card here. Without that, the ETC system won’t work. If you have the ETC system installed, then it’s cheap. If you pay in cash, it will be expensive. It’s quite possible that no one is sitting at the cash counter. These are the issues. The initial cost is around 300 dollars for getting the ETC system installed. There are a few things that are complicated here. The highway is relatively small with only two tracks. That area is quite crowded. Highways are usually jam packed. Especially on weekends when people are going out of Tokyo. Or in rush hour when people are returning from work. The best highways in the world so far are of Germany and China. They are remarkable. Both are great. Germany has the world famous Autobahn. But the infrastructure built by China is excellent. We have just reached Tokyo. This highway is Tokyo Central. There is a toll plaza again. And we have entered it. We have to pay separately for both the highways. Arif is telling that the previous highway costs around 700-800 yen because it has the ETC system installed. If the ETC system is not installed, you have to pay in cash. The maximum fee for this highway was 1590 yen. You can see that it costs around 11-12 dollars. Which is quite expensive. If you ride a few kilometers of highway, you are paying 15-20 dollars for the highway. I think these are the most expensive highways in the world. We have reached Shinjuku. The highway is quite convenient. You can reach quickly if there is no traffic. Otherwise, it would have taken us an hour to reach here. It took us half an hour to reach here. All the highways I have seen so far are like bridges. They are lifted from the ground. The highways I have seen in and outside the city are like this. What do you say Arif? I just confirmed this with Arif. He said that all the highways are like this. All the highways are lifted. And there are local roads below. So the construction cost is quite high. That’s why they charge so much. And that’s probably the reason they are not wide enough. Look at this beautiful mini. Since the highway is quite high, the views are good. I think you guys will enjoy the video. Look at the green areas in central Tokyo. They will plant trees wherever there is space. The tallest building in Japan is the Tokyo Skytree. And you can see the river flowing here. You can see it here and there. We have reached Asakusa. You can see people in traditional clothes. You can feel the old Tokyo here. You can see buildings here and there. Let’s park here. That’s the parking lot. There is a separate parking for motorcycles, bicycles and scooters. You have to follow that. There is one space here. One person can park here what about the other one. There are only four parking spaces here. You can see the crowd here. This is the Sensoji Temple. A lot of people have come here to see it. There are local as well as foreign tourists. Some bikers have also come here. As soon as the signal is on, you can see the crowd. I think this is the only place where you can see a lot of tourists. There are a lot of locals in other places. But here you can feel the full tourism vibe. Almost every tourist has to take a picture at the entrance of the temple. That’s why it’s crowded. This is the entrance of Sensoji Temple. You can see the crowd ahead. There are small shops on the sides. There is a walking path in the middle. You can find food and souvenirs in these shops. You can see the decoration at the entrance of all the temples. There are lamps here. They look beautiful when lit in the evening. If you have watched my China series, you will know that the temples here are similar to those in China. But you will see a lot of difference. This is the entrance. You can see these pagodas here. These are the typical pagodas of Japan. People are throwing coins here to fulfill their wishes. If you look at the back, you can see a big peacock. There are flowers here and there. I don’t know much about it. So I won’t comment much. People are praying here. There are some boxes here. This lady is telling me that it is for fortune. She has turned it a bit. She has thrown a 100 yen coin. Let’s see if we can get a number for it. 93! The box at the back says 93. Let’s see what’s inside the box. If there is no water in the pond, so many fish will die. Throw them into the water they will get refreshed again. Good fortune Good luck. Thank you very much. You can see Japanese horse carts here. These are called rickshaws. The word ‘rickshaw’ is derived from Japanese. There are motor rickshaws on our side. People are pulling rickshaws here. I thought if it’s worth 3000 to 4000 yen let’s take a ride. For one person, it’s 9000 yen for 30 minutes. You can say that it is around 60 USD. If you convert it into Pakistani currency, it will be around 18000 to 19000 PKR. It’s very expensive. It looks very nice. Let’s show it to you in the video. We won’t ride. We have reached Ginza. It’s a very iconic, upscale, modern, luxury shopping area in Tokyo. You can choose any luxury or modern brand and you will definitely find its outlet here. It’s famous for shopping. You will see Chinese tourists whenever you come here. It’s a very nice place for shopping. If I have to buy anything, I can get it easily. All the mid-level brands here have such big outlets. You can see Zara here. It has 7 or 8 floors. Uniqlo has 11 or 12 floors. So you can find everything you need here. It is Saturday today. They have closed the main road. Pedestrians can walk here easily. Let’s explore this area. Look at this long queue here. I am standing in front of a very famous brand outlet. You can see Unitsuka Tiger. I think at least 50 people are standing in queue. Maybe more than 50 people are waiting. This is their store. I thought I will come here and check it out. But now that I have seen such a long queue I don’t want to wait here and see the shoes. If we go to Machida or some other place, there is no long queue there. So we might get something cheaper there. And we don’t want to waste our time. You can see how famous this brand is among foreigners. So many people are waiting here. You won’t see many locals here. Mostly foreigners. This is Uniqlo’s store. Look how big it is. I think it has 12 or 13 floors. Personally, I like this brand. It’s not too expensive. The quality of their clothes is also good. You can also get clothes of my size from here. Let’s take a look. If we find something good, we will buy it. Thank God there is not a long queue at the entrance. Let’s go inside and check. Otherwise, there are long queues outside the famous stores. Shopping is done. I think Japan is the only country in this tour, where I have bought some clothes for myself. Because I will be going to Pakistan after this. So I can take all this with me. Normally, I don’t have that much space. And I usually carry all the necessary stuff with me. I think I bought a drone in China, that’s it. It’s drizzling. They have covered it. So that our clothes don’t get wet. They take good care of small things. We have parked the motorcycle here for about 2.5 hours. We have paid 700 Yen. I think we must have paid 1500 Yen for parking by the evening. And that too for parking a motorcycle, not a car. Public transportation here is mostly… If you want to go somewhere and you get a direct train, then it will cost 200 to 400 Yen. That’s about 2 to 3 USD. But if you want to change trains, then you will have to pay 1500 Yen for that. That’s my experience. If I go to 2 or 3 places and change multiple trains, it would have cost me a lot. But the public transportation system here is very good. Especially in Tokyo city, wherever you go, there are frequent trains. But if you want to go out of the city, then you may have to wait for the trains. This is the Roppongi area. It’s very popular among foreigners. Especially for nightlife, bars and nightclubs. It’s drizzling. Look at how bright the Tokyo is. This is one of the few cities that looks beautiful even in the rain. When all the lights are on, and there is a reflection, it looks very beautiful. I especially like it because of all the lights. We have come to Shibuya to have dinner. We have come to eat Kiwamiya Hamburger here. Look at the rush here. There is a long queue. When you enter the restaurant from here, there is a long queue till here. If you look from here, there are people sitting on the bench. I mean it’s a small restaurant… And people are sitting even here as well. There also serve halal burgers here. But you have to wait for at least 1.5 to 2 hours. I did ask Arif to get going from here, at first. But he insisted on staying since we are already here. Because these burgers are good. Let’s see how long we have to wait. It should be worth it. Finally! It’s been 1.5 hours. Now it’s our turn. It might take another 10 to 15 minutes for the food to be served. There is a long queue here. It takes time. As Arif said, that’s how it has been for the last 3 years or so. Now we have our Halal Wagyu. You can see it in his hand. Since they serve both halal and non-halal here, the chef does change his gloves for halal meat. And then starts preparing it. See, they have placed an extra plate here for us. To order halal, you have to explicitly inform them first. Then they bring the plate and halal beef accordingly. Let’s go. One burger is here. He will prepare another one. The size of this burger is around 150 grams. I don’t think it won’t be enough for one person. Just enough to take care of your appetite though. We tried to order two burgers since we’re hungry. But they refused. They serve only one burger per person. It’s surprising. Not that we are not paying for it. Most likely, they do have enough supplies. But they say they want to ensure all the customers get served. They have closed the customer queue now. We again requested them for an extra burger. But they refused again as they serve only one per person. We also ordered some soup and rice. So that our hunger can be somewhat satisfied. So the next part of cooking, we have to do ourselves. Our burger is being prepared slowly. We will cherish the whole thing. Let’s taste the first bite. The meat is amazing. Very juicy. And… Other than that there are no spices in it. Pure taste of meat. It’s nice. Some sauces to go with it. Got my hand burnt. Here are the sauces. So we can try it with some sauces. Let’s enjoy the meal for now. Our dinner was really good. We paid 2000 yen for it; almost 15 – 16 dollars. But the quantity was too little that we’ll have to eat something again. Otherwise, it would be tough. As per my calculations today… If you stay at the mid level in Tokyo or other big Japanese cities, and have a decent breakfast and a light lunch, followed by a nice dinner, And you book a decent hotel… You’ll get a hotel around $80. Food and public transportation would cost around $50 in total. That means a day would cost something around $130. But if you want to go even lower, you also have the option of cabin hotels. They cost around $50 for a comfortable night stay. There are some business hotels as well which offer you a good price. City center might be a bit difficult. And then there are a lot of convenience stores here. Like 7/11, Lawson, Family Mart etc. You can also get something from there for your meal. And you get it for a very reasonable amount of money. Then your daily expense would be around 70 – 80 dollars. That’s my personal experience. Hopefully you would have enjoyed this video. Remember me in your prayers.
