⁴ᴷ Yamaguchi: Shimonoseki Station (山口県: 下関駅) – Japan Walking Tour (March, 2025)

Just like last month, I took the ferry from Yokosuka Port and arrived at Shin-Moji Port in Kitakyushu City. From there, I crossed the Kanmon Strait back to Honshu and began my journey along the Seto Inland Sea, heading toward Tokyo.

Crossing the sea, I arrived in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Shimonoseki appears many times in history textbooks, but perhaps because it was a national holiday and already late at night, there weren’t many people around. The area around the station is filled with pedestrian bridges, which makes it difficult to go in the direction you want when you’re pushing a bicycle. After some detouring, I managed to cross the national road and reached Buzen Street, the largest entertainment district in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Since it was a holiday, there were few people walking around there as well.
