Your ATM hunt reminds us of trying to find an ATM in Vietnam that accepted our foreign card.

To exchange currencies, you can try asking the grocery shops coz they may want US$.

Laos chili oil is better then Vietnam or Thai put together. It’s the best
In Laotian "Bo kin pet" means "(I) don't eat spicy" for your info on the next stop. You won't offend anyone by asking for a less spicy meal. Good food (as you already know) is grilled chicken (Gai Yang) with sticky rice (Khaw Nieu). Just ask for Gai Yang Khaw Nieu and you'll have a non-spicy meal. I'm really enjoying your trip, suffering with each flat tire. Cheers!
I'm not sure how many days ahead of these videos you are, but if you plan on taking Highway 8 to Vietnam, you are going to see some absolutely amazing countryside. Maybe plan for a rest day in Na Hin after your first time in mountains. And if you have a rest day there, I recommend renting a motorbike or getting a ride down to Kong Lor Cave, the valley is incredibly gorgeous, and the cave trip by boat is really, really fun, you are in a skiff that goes all the way through the mountain and come out on the other side, there's a stop in the middle to walk around and look at the cave formations. One of the best things we've ever done in SE Asia! I know you guys are on the move and not doing a ton of sightseeing, but I'm suggesting this anyway. You can thank me later 🙂
Also, Paksan has an actual bank, the Acleda Bank. You should be able to walk in there and get some help with your cash situation. Just because one BCEL Atm rejects you, you should still keep trying. It may actually be at your cardholder's end, some banks in the US need you to put a travel notice on your card or they flip out. If USD is available at Acleda, consider taking out a wad and carrying it with you, you don't want to have extra kip when you enter Vietnam it becomes completely useless.
Some quick help for you while you are in Lao:
"Wow Lao die, bo?" = do you speak Laotian?
"Wow Angrid die, bo? = do you speak English?
"Wow bo die" No, I don't speak it"
"Eelee?" means "Really!"
"Kop Jai" = thank you
FYI you will find that some people of the REALLY older generations will speak French
Hope you find a bank in Laos or an ATM that accept your card. Yes very scary when one run out of cash. If they have the digital payment like in China that will be great but unfortunately I don’t think they will be able to implement the system anytime soon. you may consider to use car tire gas/sealing mix just take out what caused the hole and inflate it then it will seal itself. 3:41
Why don't you carry bike tire patches instead? you can carry like 50+ and all you need is water some patches are a go to fix.

Laos looks nicer than i thought! looks cleaner and safer than Thai, contrary to my assumption
You travel to Laos. It will be safer than traveling to Cambodia in every way. But if you are ready to meet bad things You will find it in Cambodia.

Have you resolved the issue of cash? I looked into sending you money and you can do a cash pickup. Seems to me that only Western Union or MoneyGram have this service. I googled Laos and couldn't find Western Union or MoneyGram locations around Thabok (assuming you are near there now). If you can find other ways to do cash pickup, I am willing to help. Let me know.
Guys, I saw on another yt ch (Travels on Toast) that in some beer cans tabs with markings found in Laos and if you keep the tabs from the beer cans you can exchange it for free beer cans. They saved alot of money in exchange😅

You misunderstand the beautiful nature of Laos because now it is disappearing because the Lao government has sold concessions to China and Vietnam. The timber and natural resources in Laos are disappearing and the Lao people only have roads full of craters.
