The Wolf’s Lair Bikepacking Route won’t let Dino survive

In this episode of my round-the-world bike tour, we wake up in Goriano Valli, a small village off the Wolf’s Lair bikepacking route, where we took refuge from the previous night’s apocalyptic rain. After drying our clothes overnight, we’re faced with an immediate brutal climb back to the route. The weather has improved, but the trail is taking its toll, Dino is in agony, struggling with open wounds from days of riding. We stop for lunch on the trail, cooking pasta in the wild, and later meet a group of friendly donkeys at a farm along the way. As the day drags on, exhaustion sets in, and when we reach Rocca di Cambio, there’s no accommodation available. Since Dino can’t camp, we detour further off-trail to Rovere, where a last-minute offer from a friend saves the day.
