Seriously Surprising First Impressions of South Africa 🇿🇦 vA 157
I ride from Grunau, in Namibia, to the border with South Africa.
In Grunau, I stay in a beautiful lodge in the middle of the desert. It’s funny, the lodge is also a butchery.
A couple of days later, I ride to the border with South Africa, the last border crossing on my way to Cape Town, and I start to reflect on my extraordinary 3 years long journey… a journey so big that it didn’t make any sense… a journey that, against all odds, I am about to complete!
After entering South Africa, in the first lodge, 500 meters after the border, I find the most insane hospitality I have ever experienced. The owner of the lodge sees me on a tricycle, and he refuses that I pay for my stay and for my food… what an arrival in South Africa!

Que Dieu soit loué , tu arrives presque à la destination
Good man,, all the best 👍🏾👍🏾
The south African special hospitality is overwhelming
Bro dont tell me you're still cycling in africa ever since you were in egypt and themn Sudan, that's mindboggling. Not even us africans would even think about doing something like this, You're a real fkn wonderer.
From all the countries in Africa, I don't think that visiting SA is a good idea, because it is the most racist country in Africa with black resentment against whites and the rule of law is non existent when it comes to investigating crimes against white people. I really hope nothing bad will happen to you, but you are taking a huge risk travelling there.
kudo<s .i would wish u gift me ur camERA…. when u fully comploete ur journEY….thank u
Congratulations Yves!! We did it! 🤭💪🎊🎉

Congratulations!
I have goosebumps watching you cross the border into South Africa, lump in my throat, what an amazing, incredibly interesting and very motivating person you are.❤
Love the lodge, the owner is a typical guy I would expect to be meeting here and the bar he has is named 'The Pharmacy ' in Afrikaans, love it. What a great way to experience your first day here. ❤
We are all so proud of you, thank you for making friends all the way
🇰🇪❤️
Finally we made it! We, because I follow your every step in this journey 🙂 Enjoy your trip and be safe
Mission Accomplished🎉👏🎊👍🥇 Your Sub since Amman Jordan. From Somaliland.
Glad to see you made it to SA Yves. I started watching you when you left France, and thought this man is on an adventure of a lifetime! As for South Africa it may have its issues with violent crime and such, but that is due to thugs and corrupt individuals who are a far smaller number than the rest of the country. You'll find that in general South African's are some of the warmest people in the world – all the different cultures in that country have something to offer, and all are so hospitable and friendly! Truly a unique and fun country with amazing weather, enjoy it while you're there ☺☺
Big record actually 🎉🎉
You deserve 1m subscribers and lots of views, this is really good for the mind, its proper content and you are an amazing and resilient dude. This Lodge owner really touched me, and this is how we are in South Africa but you will only know when you get here, i am proud of my country and thank you for exposing this positive vibe to World.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 kino Yves south Africa 🌍

Where is my comment? I can't find it. I wrote a nice comment on Jan 3, 2025 about an idea on the wind storms, to handle the bike, and increase speed using the wind itself, but I can't find it in the comments section.
