This is a video taken from a car of a bicycle ride along Myoshinji-michi, an east-west street in Kyoto, from its eastern end (the intersection with Onmae-dori) to its western end (the intersection with Prefectural Highway 130 Hanazono Station Omuro Line).

In this video, we will take you through the streets of Kyoto,
which are said to be shaped like a checkerboard.
I ride my bike (and walk where I can’t) at a leisurely pace.
I hope to be able to show you around the city along the way.

妙心寺道（みょうしんじみち）
京都市上京区、中京区、右京区にかけてある東西の通り。
かつては上ノ下立売通と呼ばれていたが、
昭和3（1928）年に妙心寺道と名称が変わった。
しかし現在も上ノ下立売通の名称は使われている。
通りは住宅地が多いものの商店街や神社仏閣も多い。
名前の由来となる妙心寺は通りの西の端近くにある。

Myoshinji-michi
An east-west street that runs through Kamigyo, Nakagyo, and Ukyo Wards in Kyoto City.
It was formerly called Kaminoshimodachiuri-dori,
but the name was changed to Myoshinji-michi in 1928.
However, the name Kaminoshimodachiuri-dori is still used today.
Although the street is mostly residential, there are also many shopping streets and shrines and temples.
Myoshinji Temple, from which the name is derived, is located near the western end of the street.
