I would add to this information, that Plovdiv is actually the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, after Damascus in Syria (if I am not mistaken)!
Damascus I think is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, without interruptions, despite the civil war there.
Many other cities are older, but with long gaps in time when they were deserted.

Hello foreign friends. I am 36 (soon to be 37) Bulgarian male. Bread and born in the town of Plovdiv. Fully lived in it, outside of 3 years for university education in Sofia, which I by the way fail in year 3/4 so technically from government view standpoint I am what we call around here "a 12th grader"… a.k.a. I finished High School, but no Bachelor`s degree. I know this might have been a bit too much information and honestly I don`t share it as extensively often. I do indeed watch a lot of "travel videos" both about Sofia and Plovdiv… because it is interesting for me to see the town I grew up in and live in from the eyes of people from abroad. This time I wrote as much about myself to make a point: I <do> know the town pretty well, however I cannot out of the top of my head… "evoke" the location of this hotel you mostly filmed in o_0… To put it as a joke "does not compute". I am indeed bad on orientation and that is also kind of irrelevant, it is where it is. More on that later… I lost my train of thoughts here… Oh "recovered". So another thing I wanted to ~share, in the odd case someone is reading this up to here, but given you have like 37 comments total by the time of me writing this, I am taking my chances. I grew up around the center and I also used to have a lot of ~time (if not that much else) on my "hands", so I have personally visited nearly everything that goes as "sight seeing" ~way more times than "often". At first when really young… my late by now grandmother used to take me around on I guess her "walks" showing and introducing me everything she knew about, which obviously was everything around the center of the town. That "main Street", the Ancient town, the garden… all of that… oh… the Hill. Later on having already being familiar with all that I could have possibly been "familiar" with… First pre University in the Capital than "a bit more" post I've returned from there ~with friends I befriended around than as well (even thou I mostly knew one of the guys since long ago, him being the kid brother of one of my elementary schoolmates.). Again a bit of ~too many details… With a purpose, again. It is to underline how now I live in one of the more distant from "the center" residential Soviet Style, Concrete Blocks and I also work outside of town. I practically no longer have the time (or more or less the will, for that matters) to go to those locations. Parking is hell (weather you intend to find "free" spot, I obviously know them all and they are all taken… like every single tile you can park a car around there I am aware of, or the paid ones, which… I don`t really like… that`s my problem thou). Public transportation do not stimulate me at all… I only use those by absolute need and I don`t like taxis as well. In fact most of the public lines routes I either never knew or forgot (of course I have seen every bus on every line it does, but that does not mean I associate it with it`s respective number). So… point here being… is the reason I watch those clips… to see "what`s up in there", "these days". I clicked on your video being excited it`s ~long… the usual clip rarely goes above 20 minutes… I expected more or less all the typical cliche spots which you see on 9/10 of the clips, but extended (with even more said and shown) or an additional rare location (for the clips)… Like top of the less pedestrian accusable hill "The Hill of Youth", or the Rolling channel… I do wanna ~some day see someone walk and "share" his or hers view point of those mentioned residential neighborhoods "Trace" and or "Small Paris" (which is actually know amongst the locals with Turkish words or the plain "Southern District". Anyways… that ~more or less "restaurant review" was interesting… but it had ~nothing to do with Plovdiv o_0… If anything I'd have liked to see some "inside" of the Hotel at the end of the Rolling Channel. I am hearing "it`s good". In spite of me being a working person, to go check out it`s restaurant myself… will be a bit of budged restraining and also I kind of not have anyone to really go there with… I don`t think I'd be particularly satisfied by more or less available for everyday use things in a more luxurious form in terms of food. And as far as "hall setting", serving and the rest of the customers… First two things have never really been any sort of concern for me, even thou of course more expensive is better, the second I will be the one far from fitting there and out of place so not a good match either. However traveling foreigners on a brief visit could have offered an interesting inside indeed. And with that I've wrote all I had. Bye, have a safe and pleasant further travels.

You spent less than 5 minutes on the Roman amphitheater in Plovdiv, but you spent half an hour choosing ice cream?!Then, in the same way, you devoted half an hour to researching the merits and demerits of a four-star hotel?!Is that why you came all this way to admire an ice cream,Or marvel at the furnishings of a hotel room?A pitiful, superficial story!

You put your ship chease on your lutenica and on a slice of bread and thats the proper way to eat it 😉

I really enjoy seeing my city and country in general from the pov of different foreigners on yt and I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
The Milyo statue you whispered to is also at the start of the roman stadium and there are representations of the entry columns on the pavement and it stretches all the way to the open part you went down to and it is going all the way below the main street.
The place with graffiti is called Kapana (the trap), as you can get lost around the many small streets, it has a lot of bars and restaurants with generally good, but in the past few years overpriced food, but it does have a nice vibe all year long.
In case you visit again I would recommend that you climb at least one of the tepes for a great areal view of the city, my fave is the youth hill. Definitely walk more around the old town and visit a few of the revival homes. The rowing canal is also a great place to hang out, run or bike around with a lot of greenery everywhere.
I liked that unlike many previous videos I've seen you at least did some research on the places you went to and I am just adding a bit more context for anyone interested.

This is the place I was born and raised at… Best city in Bulgaria and, in my humble opinion, in the whole world! Life took me far away from it, but I go back for a long stay every year! The city name you had hard time pronouncing at the Roman stadium (Phillipopolis) is one of the old names of Plovdiv. At that time, it was named after Phillip of Macedon (Alexander The Great’s father). Great video you made, guys! Thanks for sharing!
