#NSTviral: Don’t attack Japanese cyclist, Shah Firdaus brother tells Malaysians
The brother of national track cyclist Shah Firdaus Sahrom has requested the public to refrain from attacking Japanese rider Shinji Nakano on social media.
Earlier this morning, Shah Firdaus’ dream of a medal was almost within reach as he was in third place with about 25 metres left in the race.
However, it was quickly shattered when he was hit by Nakano, causing him and Jack Carlin of Great Britain to crash.
Ridwan Sahrom, who is also a track cyclist, said accidents can occur regardless of intent and blame should not be assigned hastily.
