京都の南北の通りである花見小路通を北の端（三条通との交差点）から南の端（安井北門通との交差点）まで自転車で走った車載動画です。

This is a video taken from a car of a bicycle ride along Hanamikoji-dori, a north-south street in Kyoto, from the northern end (the intersection with Sanjo-dori) to the southern end (the intersection with Yasui Kitamon-dori).

In this video, we will take you through the streets of Kyoto,
which are said to be shaped like a checkerboard.
I ride my bike (and walk where I can’t) at a leisurely pace.
I hope to be able to show you around the city along the way.

花見小路通（はなみこうじどおり）
京都市東山区にある南北の通り。
京都の祇園と言えば、
八坂神社と花見小路にあるお茶屋さんというイメージが強いかと思います。
しかし通りの北側は京都市の公営住宅が立ち並ぶ住宅地となり、
通りの中部は古美術品屋さんやホテルが多いエリアになります。
南部もお茶屋さんだけではなくクラブやスナックなどの歓楽街も広くあります。
そんな様々な顔を持つ花見小路通を今日は走ります。

Hanamikoji Street
A north-south street in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City.
When you think of Gion in Kyoto,
you probably think of Yasaka Shrine and the tea houses on Hanamikoji Street.
However, the north side of the street is a residential area lined with Kyoto City public housing,
and the center of the street is an area with many antique shops and hotels.
The southern part is not only home to tea houses, but also a large entertainment district with clubs and snack bars.
Today, we will be driving down Hanamikoji Street, which has many of these different faces.
