[$28,000] I purchased TOYOTA HIACE 4WD diesel cold region model off-road style.
I finally bought my first car! This time I will go from my home to a Hiace shop in Hyogo. I will show you how the car was delivered, introduce the interior and exterior of the car, and , and give you my impressions after actually driving it.
There were my important points to consider when choosing a car, so I will introduce them in detail. I would also like to be able to honestly tell you the advantages and disadvantages of this car compared to the light vans I have driven in the past.
If you have even the slightest interest in Hiace or sleeping in your car, please read this article until the end. Hello, this is RCC. Finally, I bought my own car. When I started this channel, I never thought I would be able to own a car. In life, I never know what will happen.
The car I purchased was a Hiace Van 4WD. I bought a vehicle I found online at a Hiace shop in Hyogo. This is my first car delivery in my life. I was having so much fun that I couldn’t sleep last night.
In this video, I’ll show you what it was like when it was delivered, why I chose the Hiace, my impressions from my first ride, and the difference between it and a small van. I arrived at Takasago City, Hyogo Prefecture, where the shop is located.
This time I bought it at this store. This is Glide, a Hiace and Harley davidson specialty shop. Although my inquiry was far from here, but they responded very politely. Finally, I come face to face with the car. I’m so excited…. Ta-da! This is a Hiace 4WD cold region off-road custom. It’s really cool.
It’s so cool that I can’t help but smile. Since I am active on YouTube and SNS, I paid particular attention to the exterior and added custom parts. It has an off-road feel and I really like it. This time, with the cooperation of Glide, I was able to photograph the construction process.
From here, I would like to explain why I chose this Hiace while looking at how the car changed before and after the construction. There are three reasons why I chose the Hiace rather than my usual small van. The first reason was that I wanted a car with a larger carrying capacity.
The second reason was that I wanted a car that could maintain high durability even in harsh environments. And the third thing…I’ll tell you about this later because it’s embarrassing. Regarding the first reason, I wanted a car with a larger carrying capacity.
To be honest, I felt that while it was possible to travel alone in a conventional light van, it would be difficult to travel with multiple people. In addition to car camping, I also need to load gear from multiple genres such as fishing, camping, and filming for YouTube at the same time.
For these reasons, I felt I needed a larger car than before. This time, I selected a 4WD diesel, cold region specification, 4 door model as the base vehicle. Deluxe has the lowest interior grade.
The reason I chose the 4-door deluxe was because I wanted to increase the space inside the car after doing some DIY interior work. Since the DX grade does not originally have an interior, I thought it would be possible to increase the interior space.
It’s the same reason why we chose a 4-door instead of a 5-door. The mileage is 5km. It’s a new car. Hmm…it smells like a new car. The second reason I chose the Hiace was that I wanted a car that could continue to be driven even in harsh environments. As a premise, I like spending time in nature, so
I wanted a 4WD vehicle that would be easy to drive off-road in the spring, summer, and fall, and on snowy roads in the winter. Among the 4WD options available, the deciding factor in choosing the Hiace was its high durability. The Hiace is popular not only in Japan but also overseas, and
It is being driven not only with mileage of 200,000 to 300,000 km, but also with mileage of 500,000 km. Because the Hiace has a simple body structure, it is said to be difficult to break, and This is why it continues to be popular even in Japan, where there are fewer unpaved roads.
For cold region specifications, for example, the battery has been strengthened from one to two, the door has a molding to prevent freezing, and a function that increases the number of idling times to increase the temperature of the heater is included. .
Third reason. This is a little embarrassing, but it’s because there are so many custom parts available. Originally, I wasn’t interested in customizing cars, but while looking for a car, I got hooked on it😅 And about the price…
The price of the car is $22,240, Navigation, exterior, and security costs were $5,760, for a total of $28,000.(※the rate as of March 11, 2024.) It’s about 1/2 to 1/3 the price of Tesla’s Cybertruck. In the future, I plan to DIY the interior so that I can sleep comfortably in the car.
I am thinking of designing an interior that will allow for a comfortable living space while also carrying fishing, mountain climbing, and camping equipment. I’m looking forward to thinking of various DIY ideas. Now, I’m going to leave for the Kanto area. What is the first impressions of the Hiace?
Mr. Glide, thank you very much for your help. Both the president and the employees were very nice people. After this, while returning to the Kanto region, I will introduce my impressions after driving on expressways and local roads. I check the ride comfort in daily use,
Whether it can climb hills, whether it doesn’t get whipped up by the wind, and whether the diesel engine is noisy. Local roads are narrow, so I drive on the expressway first to get used to the width of the car. I get on the highway right away.
Oh, the feeling of acceleration is very good. It accelerates just by lightly stepping on the accelerator. The merge went smoothly. The Hiace is equipped with the same 2800cc diesel engine as the Land Cruiser.
The Land Cruiser has better specifications, but even though it has the same engine and a larger body, it accelerates well. I noticed this when riding in this car, but the high car height allows me to see the outside scenery very clearly.
If I was in a small van, I probably couldn’t see anything because it was blocked by walls and fences. This is a good point. This time, I would like to cross the Akashi Ohashi Bridge, which has strong winds, to investigate the effects of crosswinds on the expressway.
Since the vehicle height is higher, I expect that it will be more susceptible to the effects of wind. After passing through this tunnel, I will reach Akashi Ohashi Bridge. I just passed through the tunnel…! What…? Doesn’t it shake at all? The wind is blowing strongly.
This was a surprising result. Because of the high vehicle height, I thought it would be affected by crosswinds, but even on expressways where there is strong wind, I hardly feel any effects.
When I was driving a small van, just driving next to a truck would cause the vehicle to shake and the steering wheel would be taken off, but Is this the difference between 2WD and 4WD? I read somewhere that 4WD improves straight-line performance, so the drive system may be a benefit.
And it’s nice to be able to see this scenery while traveling. This is the point where I feel glad I chose the Hiace. I crossed Akashi Ohashi Bridge and arrived at Awaji Island. It was my first time driving on a highway and it was a lot of fun.
I drove about 100km and the average fuel consumption was 10.8km per liter. The fuel efficiency of small van is approximately 13 km per liter, so is the slightly lower fuel efficiency a disadvantage? This is Akashi Ohashi Bridge, which I just crossed. It feels like I can go forever.
When I got in and out of the car, I noticed one clear disadvantage. Since the vehicle height is high, I always use the assist grip. I think it would be difficult for women and small children to get on board. I bought a souvenir for my wife.
A soup with whole onions and mackerel pickled in chili oil. A diesel engine noisy, but since I often drive small van, it didn’t bother me that much. However, if you are used to driving a passenger car, you may find the noise to be loud.
Also, the handbrake was of a type I had never seen before. It may take some time to get used to. Well, let’s leave again. Just to be sure, I checked for lateral tremors on the way back, but I didn’t really feel any.
The speed is 80km/h, the same as on the way there. Even when driving next to a truck, I hardly feel any vibration. I tried merging at a place where the legal speed limit is 120km/h. It takes about 8 seconds to go from the initial speed of 40 km/h to 80 km/h.
Although I only lightly stepped on the accelerator, I reached 100km/h. It reached a speed of 120km/h. It’s a very reassuring ride. I’ve been driving for about 5 hours so far, with breaks in between, and
I feel like the car doesn’t get tiring even after long hours on the expressway because the accelerator pedal is light and there’s not much lateral movement. Next is the general road. I start from a stopped state at a red light.
I was concerned about the vertical shaking of the car body at low speeds. Because the springs are leaf springs and the size of the car body, vertical sway is large. Also, it will take some time for the vertical shaking to subside.
Can you describe the image you get when you are on a route bus? Next is running on a slope. This is okay now. It climbs without any difficulty. I was worried about the width of the car, but I got used to it while driving on the highway.
How do you like your new travel partner? I will continue to travel further and further with my new partner in search of even greater adventures . Let me go on my next trip. See you again in the next video. Thank you for your watching.

As a fan since almost the beginning of your channel, this makes me feel so happy for you and your lovely wife 😊
The Hiace was a fantastic choice, and the modifications are very cool! Here in Australia, the Hiace is very popular, I've been in many myself and know that they're a reliable and durable vehicle.
Again, I'm so happy for you! 😊

Старый маленький фургон выглядел очень мило.
😊
👍👍
Congratulations! Great choice! Looking forward to new adventures with your vehicle.
Congratulations on your new camping van. Looking forward to the upgrade video too. Just take note that changes to the van might affect the fuel consumption. Try no to accelerate if necessary. Take care always.
Cutest music!! Haha😊
Truly it does have an off-road feel. Congratulations!
新車のご購入おめでとうございます!
車中泊先での楽しみも増えそうですね。

Such a beautiful car! I love the modifications that you have done so far. Very much looking forward for your interior modification.
How much fuel consumption ?.
Y like outdoor
While take 4wd 4 door truck
Beautiful. I need to visit Japan and pick me a a Hiace perfect size and shape for over here in the UK!
Che bella, in Italia non è importata che peccato.
مبروك، سيارة رائعة
That is an actual decent piece of art machine
Show! Nice, nice! 👏👏
That's so cheap, in the US, our cheapest van with AWD would be 50-60,000 USD. If I want an imported one, I could get it for 18-28,000 used and 25 years old!
Creio que o tremor da carroceria possa ser por causa dos pneus grandes hehe
I'm envious. Toyota doesn't offer AWD Hiace here in the Philippines..
10.8 km per liter is 25.4 miles per US gallon. There's nothing like this van in the US and if there were it would cost double.
Toyota all the Way.
Respect from South Africa 🇿🇦. My friend.
ที่ประเทศไทยออฟชั่น+หน้าปัดเรือนไมล์ กระจกไปเลยย
อยากให้เมื่องไทยมีรถรุ่นนี้ขาย
Nice van 👍🏻 here in the U.K. the VW Transporter is the most popular camper van it’s also available as 4wd, look forward to your interior mods for car camping (diesel heater maybe).
My U.K. spec Hilux has cold weather spec, two batteries, power heat, which is an electric heater element in the heater to provide warmth during prolonged idling in cold weather, also helps de icing too.
У меня Ленд Крузер 80 и 150 ,и к вашей машине отнашуть положительно ,заранее ставлю лайк👍
That is a very nice van, I like the exterior mods you had done. Enjoy your new ride and have a great time with it. 😊😊
