Panda Cycle Vlog #5 After going around Mt. Funaoka in Kita Ward Kyoto City I also climbed the mountain I went around Mt. Funaoka along the pink line The shrine in front is Takeisao Shrine However it is generally called Kenkun Shrine
The name of the nearby bus stop is Kenkun Jinjamae I’ll be visiting you later so please look forward to it This side is the east side of Mt. Funaoka The torii gate on the right is the torii gate of Imamiya Shrine
Imamiya Shrine is dedicated to a god who brings good health long life and relief from disasters It is also connected to Keishoin which is famous for its Tamanokoshi and is said to bring good luck
His Yasurai Festival which is considered to be one of the three strange festivals in Kyoto is also held The aburimochi in front of the gate is also famous This side is the north side of Mt. Funaoka This side is the west side of Mt. Funaoka
Mt. Funaoka is a small mountain measuring about 200 meters from east to west and 100 meters from north to south The altitude is 111.7 meters This side is the south side of Mt. Funaoka This is the north end of #27 Jofukuji-dori We are almost done going around Funaokayama I went around Mt. Funaoka
Now let’s take a walk around Mt. Funaoka The deities enshrined at this Kenkun Shrine are Lord Nobunaga Oda and his son Lord Nobutada Oda It was founded in 1869 by order of Emperor Meiji It’s quite a steep staircase There are many Inari shrines enshrined in this area
Kawazu cherry blossoms were blooming beautifully The view from here was spectacular You can see Daitokuji Temple in Murasakino Gozan Okuribi Myoho in Matsugasaki and Mt. Hiei Daimonji and the peaks of Higashiyama can be seen from Mt. Hiei You can see the apartments around Horikawa-dori and Imadegawa-dori in the distance
You can clearly see far to the south Now let’s visit Kenkun Shrine A monument depicting a passage from Atsumori that Oda Nobunaga was said to have liked From the south approach head further towards the center of Mt. Funaoka It is a mountain with a lot of nature remaining
During the Onin War the Western army had a position around Funaokayama Therefore this area is called Nishijin There was also a castle on this mountain and traces of it still remain We’ll climb further we’ll reach the top soon This rock is called Iwakura
Iwakura was cherished as a sacred place where the gods descended It is said that it served as a reference point to the north of Heiankyo This building is known as the siren tower and used to broadcast air raid warnings during the war This is the top of Mt. Funaoka
View to the south from near the top It is said that there was once a monkey cage in this place Some people were currently taking a relaxing nap This side will be facing west You can clearly see the Hidari Daionji go down the mountain a little It’s a great stage
A radio tower is a tower that was built in the early Showa era when radio was not yet widespread in ordinary homes so that people could listen to broadcasts in places where people gathered Nowadays he has the image of a sports public viewer
There was also a plaza and play equipment The last place I visited was the observation deck on the northeast side of Mt. Funaoka You can clearly see the Kitayama area and Mt. Hiei Daimonji from here Thank you for watching
Mt. Funaoka is full of nature and has beautiful scenery so if you have the chance please come visit

船岡山は京都が舞台のサスペンスドラマ等で見る機会が多いですね😃
船岡山に登るのは観光客よりも地元の人が多いらしいですね。
観光地というよりも地域住民の憩いの場ですかね🍵
