I sneaked into an Air Self-Defense Force base! ! Hey, guys! Today I came to Gifu Air Base in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture. Gifu Base is located in the center of Japan and is one of the bases of the Air Self-Defense Force.

An organization called the Air Development and Test Wing is stationed at the Gifu base, and tests and develops aircraft and equipment. Therefore, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which manufactures aircraft, is adjacent to the base. By the way, Kawasaki Motors, which is famous for motorcycles, is a subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries!

An air festival is being held today, so anyone can enter the base. Let’s go inside! ! The base has a north area and a south area, and you can enter through four gates.

This time I entered from the gate in the north area, so first we headed to the tarmac where the aircraft is on display! I arrived at the tarmac. It’s a huge amount of people… it’s crowded with people because it’s a place that you can’t usually enter. I arrived in front of the aircraft.

When I see it right in front of me, it feels very big. This is Hangar 5. It’s very big because it can store airplanes. Fighter jet and missiles are on display inside.

This is a fighter jet called the F-2, which was jointly built by Japan and the United States and is based on the F-16. It’s really cool. I came to a place where several fighter jets were on display, The F-15 and F-2 are on display here.

It seems that inspection work is being carried out in preparation for the air show. I wonder if the main character of Top Gun will come down from the plane lol As I was watching fighter planes on the tarmac, an air show by Whiskey Papa started!

Whiskey Papa is an aerobatic team that performs air shows all over Japan. It’s spinning like crazy! ! ! It is wonderful! I arrived at another hangar. Plastic model airplanes are on display here. There is also a diorama, which is very complete! It looked like the real thing…

Many children are looking at it with great interest. This is the store area. There are so many delicious-looking meal on sale that it can be hard to decide which one to buy… Roasted chicken is also sold ! ! It looks tasty. . . This time I bought fried chicken! (Sorry for being blurry.)

After I was completely satisfied with the fried chicken, I came to the goods section next. Various Self-Defense Force goods such as patches and plastic models are sold here. It’s an irresistible place for aviation fans. There are paid viewing seats near the merchandise section, so you can get a closer look at the planes.

Now that you’ve looked at the north area, let’s head to the south area. We can go to the south area by bus or on foot. There is a grassy area next to the walkway where we can sit and watch the planes take off.

It appears that the planes and helicopters of the air rescue team have begun mock flights. Wow! ! So close! ! It’s hard to see them flying so close, right?? I arrived at the south area. Retired airplanes will welcome us. I came to the experience area.

Here we can be experienced the training conducted by the Self-Defense Forces and see exhibits of some equipments. This is an area that parents and children can enjoy together! There is also a stage in the south area, which is a different kind of fun than the north area.

An air show with active aircraft was about to begin, so I came to a place where I could easily see it. The air show has begun! F-2 will take off. Next up is the F-15! ! They separated perfectly! It sounds amazing! ! Fighter jets lined up horizontally, circling one by one! !

Beautiful. . . Its C-2 time. ? ? ? ? ! ! ! ! ! It’s a very big plane, but it climbs at almost 90 degrees! ! It’s amazing performance. . The last one is a large heterogeneous formation flight! This can only be seen at Gifu Base. Too amazing! ! ! !

It was an amazing air show. I’m back to the north area. Next up will be an air show by Blue Impulse, the Self-Defense Force’s aerobatic team. The pilot boards the plane. It’s already cool at this point. . The mechanic gives the signal and the engine starts!

Amazing! The plane will be taxiing right in front of you! The pilot is also waving! The air show has begun! ! It gives off white smoke and takes off. The planes that took off form a formation and come from the front. It’s so close that it almost hits the control tower! !

This time, a plane is flying upside down! It’s amazing that it can fly straight in this condition. . And soared. Sudden descent. The last rotation is from sudden acceleration. If I were to fly on this plane, I would definitely pass out (꒪ཀ꒪) It’s a very beautiful formation flight. . .
