Kyoto JAPAN Vlog | solo traveling again, new cafes, hotel tour, winter walk, matcha

When I asked on instagram where you think we’re headed to, a lot of you guessed correctly… 🤭 I’ve been to japan many times before, but this will be my first time solo traveling here also my first time landing at KIX, the arrival process was super smooth!

I’ll be spending two weeks in the kansai region so stay tuned for all the travel vlogs! excited to share with you new and old favourites in our first city, kyoto 🥹 dropping off my luggage at the first hotel of the trip first thing I noticed was this very spacious lobby 😍

I’ll do a full room tour in a bit, but first, let’s go out and explore! the hotel has direct access to the subway station, which is a true blessing! got my icoca card sorted! everything is a bit far apart in kyoto

So I plan on using the subway as my main mode of transportation this time shijo street runs through the commercial center of kyoto and is the main shopping corridor here you’ll find a lot of flagship stores, as well as the daimaru and takashimaya shopping malls

First stop for a fuss free bowl of ramen without all the frills you order from a ticket machine and get seated in a private booth you could probably go through the whole experience without talking to anybody – an introvert’s dream 😂 itadakimasu! the line when I left 😱 off to find some dessert

A place where you can enjoy showa era cafe culture late at night with a long history dating back to 1934 their classic pudding comes with whipped cream and orange confit 🤤 I love the vibe of this place! italian baroque + classical music

Shijo-dori intersects with kawaramachi-dori, a vibrant street with many spots for drinks this tiny hidden jazz bar with only ~6 seats is straight out of a haruki murakami book 😳 a must visit when in japan… the perfect place to wander around late at night 🤭 they’re open til 1AM!

If you follow me on tiktok you may have seen my video that went viral on the matomage hair styling products 😂 I’m back to try out some more hair products because I’ve been influenced by tiktok 🙈 olens is so much cheaper to buy here compared to what I’ve been paying pre-order shops 😭

Got some face masks and a bunch of hair styling products – let me know if you want to see a review! a little piece of tokyo 🥹 I walked past this flower shop everyday when I stayed in aoyama I’ve missed these train jingles – never a dull moment in japan 🎵

Let’s do a little room tour! the room has a super clean and minimal design a large bed and little living room corner with the sofa, tv, and table in the minibar area you’ll find a fridge, some coffee & tea the bathroom is on the left when you enter the room

With separate zones for the sink, shower, and toilet whenever I’m in japan, I love trying out all the different konbini snacks this one is haagen-dazs’ limited edition kinako kuromitsu flavor from their mochi line this tasted amazing! will be getting this again the next time I spot it 😂

Woke up bright and early after having the BEST sleep last night the bed here is sooo comfortable! let’s head down to breakfast! I love ochazuke so I’m most excited about that! plus their homemade curry a scoop of rice + your favourite ochazuke toppings and add green tea here’s my breakfast spread!

Thoroughly enjoyed this breakfast 🤍 once you’re done eating you can let the staff know by placing this card on your table a 2-minute walk from the hotel, right around the corner, is a tea specialty store recommended by a local friend

They also have a newly opened kintsugi workshop and tea ceremony area on the second floor and a retail space on the third floor with beautifully curated tableware from all corners of japan carefully selected karatsu yaki from saga, a region known for this traditional craft

I picked out this goma set from tochigi to bring home heading off to explore more of the neighbourhood kyoto is a very bike-friendly city the city is largely flat and roads are so well maintained another cafe I love with good coffee

I walked this exact route five years ago and funnily enough not much has changed I still have a photo of this same exact bike parked in front of this building 😂 always a good sign to spot🍦 a family-run tea company founded in 1717 – one of my favourite spots to buy matcha

Made it here in time for their special new year’s matcha! 🥹 back here again for a newly opened spot I didn’t get to visit last time the cafe follows the themes of nature, arts, & crafts it feels like a botanical laboratory in here

Excuse my broken japanese 😂 I promised myself I’d improve by the end of the trip 🥲 their signature menu is this too-pretty-to-eat ice cream flower bouquet 🥹 I usually have my doubts with aesthetic-looking food, but this was pretty and tasty too!

Some of the shops here changed from last year so I’m spending some time browsing kitsune is having a huge winter sale so I picked out some pieces love this shade 🍓 attached to the store is their cafe there’s always something fun to look at at this beams location

This complex is also very conveniently connected to the subway walked around nijo castle for a bit before coming across this spot cozy cafe hidden behind a wall of plants, in an alley nearby nijo castle they serve well made filter coffees, and cheese on toast obsessed with the bread and toast in japan🫰🏼

Next door to the cafe is a cute homeware store heading back to the hotel for a little bit the king room was only available for one night so I’ll be staying in a different room tonight picking up some more free amenities from the lobby

They have everything from a hair brush to lotions & cleansing oils my room tonight is in a separate building from the main building and is only accessible by room card here’s a room tour! the moment I stepped in, I fell in love with this zen garden view 🥺

It makes this room feel extra cozy, calm, and peaceful 🤍 this room also has a little sofa corner for relaxing hyatt place is a younger brand complementary to the hyatt group’s full service brands I think they’re quite well-suited for the modern-day business/leisure traveler

The minibar zone has a coffee machine, a fridge, some tea and tableware the toilet and sink/shower area is separated I love that all their rooms are quite modern yet still feel very native to kyoto heading back to the main building to work from the lobby for a little while later that night…

After going out for dinner, thought I’d taste test some konbini snacks at the 24-hour hotel lobby bar you can exchange 500 yen for a coin at the front desk, to insert into the machine there are also many other drinks available to enjoy here

The lobby is super spacious so you can find a place to sit anywhere kuromitsu + kinako + mochi 🍦 can’t go wrong with this combo next up: strawberry milk it had actual chunks of strawberries in it! 🤌🏽 strawberry & cream cake roll I would’ve liked more strawberry > cream ratio

The realistic muscat grape gummies that are all over tiktok apparently you can peel them like real grapes taste-wise, I didn’t really get the hype 😂 good morning! today we’re checking out and heading to the next hotel I loved my first experience staying at hyatt place and will miss staying in this room!

the reveal: i’m in JAPAN 🇯🇵 (you guys know me too well!)
