京都ポタリング 通りの端から端まで走る! #21 御池通 #京都 #ポタリング #自転車

The intersection of Oike-dori and Kawabata-dori the starting point Let’s start Immediately cross the Kamogawa River at Oike Ohashi Bridge Looking north from Oike Ohashi Bridge Mt. Hiei can be seen today as well Looking south from Oike Ohashi Bridge Sanjo Ohashi Bridge is visible Kyoto City Hall is on your right

Kyoto City Hall Kyoto City is facing financial difficulties Various administrative services are also being cut Meanwhile city hall was being renovated at a construction cost of over 15 billion yen This is where it became a hot topic

It seems that you can take a tour so if you are interested please do so What you can see on the left is Hiiragiya Ryokan a luxury inn It is said that Yasunari Kawabata and Yukio Mishima also stayed there Gosho Hachimangu Shrine came into view Gosho Hachiman Shrine

The three deities enshrined are Emperor Ojin Empress Jingu and Hime Famous as a guardian deity for safe childbirth and infants Because of his connection with Takauji Ashikaga It is said to be Gosho Hachimangu Shrine

The buildings in front are the Kyoto City Fire Department Nakagyo Fire Department and the Kyoto City Nakagyo Ward Office Kyoto City Fire Department Chukyo Fire Department Kyoto City Nakagyo Ward Office If you head north (to the right) on Horikawa-dori you will find Nijo Castle Former Rikyu Nijo Castle

Nijo Castle Higashi Otemon (Grand East Gate) Tonan Sumi-Yagura Shinsen-en Garden from which Oike-dori got its name came into view Shinsenen This place was originally a garden in Heiankyo Currently it is a temple managed by Toji Temple Ponds remaining from Heiankyo Ehosha

The eho changes every year so the pedestal is moved on New Year’s Eve This is the only shrine like this in Japan Zennyo Ryūō-sha This is a deity that Kobo Daishi invited from India for a ritual to pray for rain

Hojo Bridge This is a bridge that will make your one wish come true Although it looks like a large site he used to live in Shinsenen which was much larger Risyouden, the main hall of Shinsenen

The principal images are Sho Kanzeon Bodhisattva Fudo Myoo Kobo Daishi and Kaiga Shonin In front is JR Nijo Station This weeping cherry tree is said to be the third generation of the weeping cherry tree in Maruyama Park Nijo Station located near the center of Heiankyo

Perhaps related to that there was an explanatory text about Heiankyo On the left side is the Kyoto City Emergency Clinic JR Nijo Station BiVi Nijo which has movie theaters restaurants etc Oike Street is divided at Nijo Station and will be detoured

#18 The Kyoto Co-op that appeared in the Rokkenmati-dori video can be seen on the right Nijo subway station is located underground here The Tozai subway line runs along the basement of Oike-dori Turn left at Kasuga-dori and you will see the Shimadzu Corporation – Headquarters

Shimadzu factories and office buildings continue for a while to the left and right of this If you look up what company Shimadzu is It seems to be a company that makes medical equipment and precision machinery Here too the place where the company was founded appears at the beginning of #14 Kiyamachi Street

In 2002 Koichi Tanaka of Shimadzu Corporation was awarded the Nobel Prize and became a hot topic The site of Shimadzu Corporation still continues so it’s spacious The site ends at Nishikoji-dori. It’s huge! A long-established bakery in Kyoto came into view Shizuya a bakery founded in 1948

This is the head office and main factory Speaking of Shizuya this is his number one carnet A simple sandwich with just margarine onions and ham Delicious Speaking of Shizuya this is it Part 2 Caskute Boneless ham and processed cheese on hard French bread Also delicious

You can buy it at various places in Kyoto City They also sell it at Kyoto Station Please try it when you visit There used to be a Yamanouchi water treatment plant in this area Currently hospitals universities and vocational schools are built like this

I arrived at the Sanjo Oike intersection which is the west end of Oike Street Sanjo Oike intersection This place is famous in the Kyoto street area Oike-dori and Sanjo-dori are both east-west roads It’s strange that Kyoto’s east and west roads intersect on a grid Do not you think so?

The answer is simple: Sanjo Dori curves around here But it’s a somewhat unusual intersection where east and west streets intersect Kyoto City Ukyo Ward General Government Building There is a municipal subway underground Randen’s Randen Tenjingawa Station is also nearby There is also a bus terminal

It has become a key point for public transportation In front is Randen Tenjingawa Station Ahead of this is the Uzumasa Tenjingawa subway station It’s a convenient place

京都の東西の通りである御池通を東の端(川端通と御池通の交差点)から西の端(三条通と御池通の交差点)まで自転車で走った車載動画です。
途中、地元目線での京都の街案内などをしておりますので是非ご覧下さい。

This is an in-vehicle video of me cycling along Oike-dori, an east-west street in Kyoto, from the east end (the intersection of Kawabata-dori and Oike-dori) to the west end (the intersection of Sanjo-dori and Oike-dori).
Along the way, we will provide information on Kyoto from a local perspective, so please take a look.

Hello everyone
Thank you for listening to Cycle Panda ch.
In this video, we will take you through the streets of Kyoto,
which are said to be shaped like a checkerboard.
I ride my bike (and walk where I can’t) at a leisurely pace.
I hope to be able to show you around the city along the way.
Please take your time to take a look.

Oike Street
In Heiankyo, this road corresponds to Sanjo Boumon Koji.
Originally it wasn’t that big of a road.
The road was widened during the Pacific War due to the forced evacuation of buildings.
Currently designated as a symbol road by Kyoto City,
Construction is progressing and Kyoto City City Hall is located there.
It is a major street.
The east end of the street is Kawabata-dori, and the west end is Sanjo-dori.
