THINGS TO DO IN ALMADA – PORTUGAL 🇵🇹

If you have watched my previous vlog when I  went cycling alone in Lisbon, there is this   huge Jesus statue in one of the clips. Have you  ever wondered, where is that statue? Well today   I’m going going to take you to that giant Jesus  statue in Almada and also explore Cacilhas. Those

Two are the towns opposite Lisbon. The towns  that people rarely show on YouTube. By the way   if you guys haven’t watched my cycling vlog, I  will put the link in the description box below.   In that video I’ll show you some nice places to  visit in Lisbon along the tagus river. So don’t

Forget to check it out! Hi everyone! Welcome to  another vlog. I’m back with my traveling video   because the weather is good today. According  to the forecast, today and tomorrow will be   sunny days. So I decided not to sit at home  and just watch Netflix. There will be some

Interesting places to see today and I will  start by visiting the Christ the King statue   in Almada and then I will explore the towns  by foot and take a ferry ride to go back to   Lisbon. All right follow me now! Today my husband  wants to take our dogs to the beach and since

Almada is on his way, he offered to take me and  my friend there by car. So of course I said yes! It takes around 30 minutes from Lisbon  by car and if you use public transports   it takes around an hour 15 minutes to get  there. One of the main reasons tourist go

To Almada is to see the statue of Christo Rei or Christ the King. It is one of the most   iconic monuments in Lisbon. Woohoo we have arrived. The monument is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

It is free to explore, but if you want to go to the top of the statue by elevator you’ll need to pay 8 per person. All right let’s go inside! Christo rei is a Catholic statue dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ which inspired by the Christ the  Redeemer statue in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

The statue of Christ stands high  above the southern banks of Tejo estuary   and depicts Christ with arms raised  blessing the city. It also represents Portugal’s religious gratitude for for  avoiding the horrors of World War II. We want to go to the top of  the statue before enjoying the view from

The view point, so let’s see if there is  a queue or not. One tip from me always   have your jacket with you. It can be windy  and pretty cold here, since the monument is   located on top of a hill, next to the river.  So this one is the chapel, chapel Our Lady of

Peace and right after the chapel is the  ticket office to go to the top of the statue.  Wah the queue is so long! Let’s see how long  we need to wait in the queue this time. It’s been an hour and we are still  waiting to go to the top of the statue.

Another day in queue. That’s true. Finally  our turn has come. The elevator will not take you straight away to the top, you still need to go by stairs but not for too long. Wah finally after an hour and a half!

All right let’s see! From top here you’ll  see the magnificent panoramic view of the Lisbon metropolis and finally this is  what we are waiting for to see   the Christ the King statue from closer. Wow what a beautiful statue. It looks pretty  amazing when you take a closer look of it.

Not only the statue that looks incredible but  also the view of the surrounding cities. Hello Miss! Do you like your visit? Yes. Is it worth waiting? Yes, I think yes.   Finished. So now we are going to  explore the the park and the view point. This is the souvenir shop.

Besides here, there is also another souvenir  shop which is located next to the car park.  Are going to buy something for your mom? Yes.  This one. What is that? It’s a, what do you

Call this? Postcard. Can I have a look? But wooden uh postcard.  If you don’t want to be in the queue like us   don’t worry, you can also get an astounding  view from the viewpoint in front of the statue. So we finished looking around  the Santurio de Cristo Rei and now we

Are going to walk for around 30 minutes  to the Boca do Vento elevator. That is an   elevator that will take us from Almada  to Cacilhas area. I hope I pronounced it correctly. Alternatively you can take  a short Uber ride instead of walking like us.

We are now walking through  the Almada city. In my opinion it is a   nice area. It is way less busy than Lisbon and we have arrived. Wah so pretty. It is free to use  this elevator, but the operating hours is from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  only. From the top here you’ll find

Sweeping views over the Tagus river, the Cristo rei and the 25th of April bridge. Wah! Do you see the rainbow? yeah Christ and rainbow and the sun. Make sure someone has  pressed the button to call   the lift, so you don’t need  to wait for a long time for it.

This elevator right from the clifftop  allows you to access the Jardim do Rio, which   give you the magnificent views of the Almada riverside area and Lisbon. Besides by elevator, there are  also stairs to get up and down   the hill but I recommend taking the free  elevator if the queues aren’t too long.

So nice! The sunset is very beautiful here during the summer. Now we are going to the port. Oh so  this is where the famous Ponto Final restaurant. Next to the Jardim do Rio, there is a famous  restaurant which known as Ponto Final.

The queue is really long. We wanted to have  dinner here, but we changed our mind because the   queue was really long. I really recommend  to make a reservation if you want to eat here. Luckily the other day I had a chance to  try the food here. I didn’t make a reservation, because

I didn’t plan to eat here and because of that I  needed to wait for an hour before I got a table. After telling the waiter that you want to  be in the waiting list, you can wait somewhere

Around the restaurant. Don’t be too far because  the waiter will call your name when a table is   ready for you. Woh finally my turn! Well at  least I got the best seat after waiting for an hour. The main ingredient here is fish and the  food is traditional and rustic. A great place

To taste the real flavors of Portuguese food. I ordered some oysters for the staters this time   mmm yummy and grilled salmon for the main course. hhh I’m so starving! Let’s dig in!

If you feel a bit chilly because of the wind you can ask the waiters to provide you a blanket. What a nice service! The food is a little bit pricey though, but hey  you also get a very nice view which you cannot get from other restaurants so I’m okay with it!

All right let’s go back to our main vlog. Wah the sunset is beautiful from here. If you guys are visiting Almada and then on the way back home to Lisbon by ferry you can stop here. After enjoying lunch or dinner at Ponto final or the other restaurant next to it

Well in our case we just walked through them, you will walk along the river at Rua do Ginjal to get to the Cacilhas ferry terminal. Don’t be in a rush, because there are a lot of nice street   art that you can enjoy looking at while you  are on your way to the ferry terminal.

Ah if you have time, before  going to the ferry terminal don’t   forget to check out the Farol de Cacilhas. It is located just next to the   terminal. It is really easy to recognize  since it has a really bright red color.

Oh and also near the lighthouse there is  old ship and it is a museum now, so let’s   check it out! Wow I thought there would be  only a ship, but there is also a submarine   but I don’t think they, I don’t think it  works anymore. Let’s see from the other

Side. It’s getting colder and colder. This is  the first time I’ve seen a real submarine so huge. Oh no I think the museum is closed now,  because it’s too late. Here you go yep we are definitely late. It is open the last entry  is at 4:45 p.m. and now it’s already like 5:15

All right see you next time ship and that’s it  for today guys. If you have free time at the end   of your holiday here, this one day itinerary  can be a nice option to end your visit in Lisbon. Thank you so much for watching guys! I  hope you enjoyed watching the video! Don’t forget
