日本を自転車で横断するために私が1日に食べるもの!(たくさん!)🇯🇵

This is how much I have to eat in a day to cycle across Japan. The plan for today is to start our push through Hokkaido with about 50 miles from Hakodate to Yakumo. But the first order of business is picking up a can of bear spray before we go out into the wild. By the way, these are way more expensive than I thought. For breakfast, I hit this 46-year-old cafe that had a little retro gaming table and super old school vibes. The goal here was to finally try some of the island’s famous dairy. So, in addition to a little breakfast set with an egg, some salad, and some toast, I got this ice cream sundae with about 1 ft of Hokkaido whipped cream on that boy. And he also gave me a free glass of milk to wash it all down. What makes this dairy in particular special is that it has this super thick and luscious creaminess that’s really fullbodied, especially compared to its non-haiden counterpart. As I got riding, most of the morning was spent just making my way out of the city and deeper into the mountains. But on the way, I spotted this local fast food chain called Lucky Pierro that exists exclusively in Hakodate, where each of the 17 different locations has its own unique theme. That being said, I have no clue what this one’s was. Maybe bulbous figures with small faces. I don’t know. I decided to order up their Fat Man’s burger that was loaded up with some tomato, lettuce, onion, a croette, cheese, and two patties. Was it delicious? Yes, it was. But for some reason, whenever a burger is even slightly larger than average in Japan, it always explodes a couple bites in. I also got some cheese fries that were topped with a savory demiglaze sauce, which I guess is kind of like a Japanese poutine. And also this guana soda that is randomly super popular in Hokkaido. Fun fact, Guadana was initially domesticated by the Mawe tribe in the Amazon rainforest and subsequently grew to massive popularity within the Brazilian market. But following World War II, when Coca-Cola was starting to encroach on the Japanese market, local bottlers introduced Guadana soda here to help compete with the new entry. Anyway, as I kept pushing, the afternoon consisted of some quiet riding along some beautiful coastal road until I eventually arrived at this super famous fried chicken spot that’s apparently a KFC test farm used to help improve the taste and quality of KFC chickens where they’re all fed a diet of herbs. The restaurant itself sits on a big hill overlooking the coast, and I went with an order of their fried chicken with fries and kleslaw, and also their ethnic chicken, which just turned out to be normal chicken with sweet and spicy sauce on it. Not going to lie, from the chicken to the kleslaw, everything indeed did taste like KFC. and was honestly almost indistinguishable from a normal KFC chain. As I rolled into Yakumo, I checked into my guest house that I’d be staying in for tonight, which was completely unmanned, and got settled into my room, which ran me just under 50 bucks a night. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.

This is everything I eat in a day on my bikepacking trip across Japan! Today, we travelled from Hakodate to Yakumo!

  1. The Lucky Pierrot that you went to probably had a theme of the artist Fernando Botero. His works mainly focuses on depicting people as large and exaggerated and is his signature style.

  2. あんな特別な景色を眺めながら食べても特別美味しくもない普通のケンタッキーだったなんて😂
    よっぽど普通だったんだな〜🤣
