【7時間走り続ける各駅停車】JR飯田線!南信州で途中下車の旅<前編>

Hello. I’m currently at Hotaka Station in Nagano Prefecture. Here ‘s a look around the station. This is the first of two videos. I’ll be taking a local train on the Iida Line from Hotaka Station via Matsumoto and Okaya to Toyohashi , visiting a forest restaurant and a hidden station along the way. Enjoy at double speed! First, I’ll be riding the JR Oito Line bound for Matsumoto. The Oito Line connects Matsumoto Station in Nagano Prefecture with Itoigawa Station in Niigata Prefecture. The section from Hotaka to Matsumoto is filled with rural scenery. So, I’ve arrived at Matsumoto Station. Next, I’ll transfer to a train on the JR Shinonoi Line bound for Kobuchizawa. I’ll be boarding the Shinonoi Line train. The scenery is filled with rice paddies and farmland. I’ll be switching to the Chuo Line from Shiojiri Station. I’ve arrived at Okaya Station. Here, I’ll transfer to the Iida Line, the main focus of this trip. A local train on the Iida Line bound for Hiraoka Station has arrived. It’s just after 5:00 PM. I decided to get off at Komagane Station and head to my lodgings for the night. Arriving at Akagi Station. Apparently, between the neighboring Sawando Station and Akagi Station, there was the steepest slope on the entire JR line, at 40‰, but I didn’t even notice it. 40‰ means a 40m climb over a distance of 1,000m. I arrived at Komagane Station, my destination for the day. The conductor collects tickets on the Iida Line, which has many unmanned stations. The area around the station looks like this. I rented a bicycle in the shopping arcade in front of the station. From the station, I headed toward the plateau area. It was quite an uphill climb. The area around Komagane Station is about 650m above sea level. Komagane Plateau, where my destination, Komagane Pond, is located, is about 900m. It’s a 5km climb with an elevation difference of 250m. A 50m climb over a 1,000m distance makes for a 50‰ gradient. I dismounted and pushed my bicycle. Arrived at Komagane Pond. On a clear day, the Central Alps are reflected on the water, creating a spectacular view. We ‘re just a short distance from our lodging for the night, a quiet log cabin in the forest called “Oz.” There are rows of lovely pensions and lodges along the way. We continue further into the forest. We can see the building, but unfortunately it’s too dark to show you what it looks like. We arrive at our lodging for the night, Oz. Oz is handmade by the owner. We’ll have an Italian dinner. There were many guests there. On the second morning, we had a tomato and mozzarella cheese salad carbonara . Breakfast was also prepared for us. Everything was delicious. Due to the heavy rain that had been falling since last night, the owner kindly offered to drive us to the station. Thank you so much to everyone at Oz for your hospitality! Due to the continuous rain since yesterday, as of this morning, we received a notice that service on the Iida Line between Chubu-Tenryu and Hiraoka had been suspended. For now, we’ll head to Ina-shi Station. We’ve arrived at Ina-shi Station. Wind chimes are ringing. I asked a kind station attendant about the expected resumption of service on the suspended section. The sound of the wind chimes is soothing. It was midsummer, but the breeze felt cool. If service doesn’t resume, I’ll take a bus from Iida Station along the way back, then take the next local train on the Iida Line towards Toyohashi. Thank you for watching the video to the end. This is the end of the first part, but please like, subscribe to the channel, and share the video as it will encourage me to continue. To be continued in the second part.
