Suizenji Ezuko Park: A waterside oasis for Kumamoto citizens

Located close to the center of Kumamoto City, Suizenji Ezuko Park is a vast urban park where you can enjoy the rich nature that symbolizes the “Water City, Kumamoto”. Developed around Ezu Lake, where underground water from Mount Aso springs out, the clear waterside space, which has been selected as one of the “100 Best Waters of the Heisei Era,” provides healing and vitality to not only local residents but also many visitors. Counted as one of the 100 best urban parks in Japan, the park spreads out over two areas, Kami-Ezu Lake and Shimo-Ezu Lake, each of which is full of diverse charms.

Interact with the rich nature

Ezu Lake is fed by spring water at a constant water temperature throughout the year, which fosters a valuable ecosystem in which a wide variety of plants and animals live. Strolling around the lakeside, you can observe the flowers and plants of each season while listening to the chirps of wild birds. There is also a spacious lawn area, which is crowded with families enjoying picnics and packed lunches.
