四國0KM啟程 × 瀨戶內細雨騎跡 × 新居濱工業與文藝之城
清晨,我們在道後溫泉飯店享用美味的早餐後,正式踏上環四國的單車旅程。這一天的總里程約 98 公里,從松山道後出發,沿著松山市區的道路前行,目標直指今治,再一路進入新居濱。
🚴♂️ 不久後抵達愛媛縣廳前的「四國一周 0km」地標。這裡象徵著近年來「環四國單車」文化的興盛與地方振興,是許多騎士必訪的朝聖點。我們也在此留下合影,記錄下環四國的起點與對這趟挑戰的熱情。
穿越城山公園時,無意間回頭,竟遠遠望見松山城在細雨迷霧中若隱若現。古城依山而建,宛如浮於雲煙之中,令人心生敬意。
🌸 進入鄉間小徑,沿途盡是傳統日式民居。碎石鋪地的庭園、枯山水點綴著一株楓樹,寧靜之美不需多言。每戶人家不是種滿花草,就是精心維護的無圍牆庭園,與遠山綠巒相映成趣,顯得素雅又悠然。
今天的天氣依舊細雨綿綿,雖然讓瀨戶內海的景色變得朦朧難辨,卻帶來適合騎行的舒適氣息。輪胎濺起的水珠,伴隨雨絲敲打頭盔,讓人彷彿進入專屬於騎士的詩意時空。
🚗 更讓人動容的,是四國道路上的友善氛圍。這裡的街道多數狹窄,但無論是轉彎的轎車或等候的卡車,駕駛們總會靜靜停下,禮讓單車先行。這份安靜而自然的尊重,讓我們深刻感受到當地人對單車文化的包容,也增添了對接下來九天挑戰的期待。
🌊 傍晚時分,我們抵達 新居濱市。這座位於四國中北部的城市,北臨瀨戶內海,南接四國山脈,自然景觀優美。自江戶時代起因採礦業興起,逐漸發展成以「住友」為核心的工業重鎮,被譽為瀨戶內地區的重要城市。同時,新居濱也蘊含文藝氣息——吉卜力工作室動畫家近藤勝也(代表作《魔女宅急便》、《崖上的波妞》)正是新居濱人,如今更擔任當地觀光大使,為城市增添一份奇幻的想像。
🌙 夜幕降臨,大家在飯店稍作休整。細雨過後,街道瀰漫著潮潤的空氣,而我們的心情卻因第一天的正式騎行而熾熱。四國之旅才剛揭開序幕,屬於我們的故事才正要開始。
🚴♂️ Shikoku Round-Island Cycling Certification 12 Days + Shimanami Kaido

After enjoying a hearty breakfast at our Dogo Onsen hotel, we officially began the first cycling stage of our Shikoku round-island journey. Today’s route covered about 98 km, departing from Matsuyama Dogo, heading through Imabari, and finishing in Niihama.
🚴♂️ Before long, we arrived at the “Shikoku Round-Island 0KM” monument in front of the Ehime Prefectural Office. This spot symbolizes the rise of the Shikoku cycling culture and its role in revitalizing the region. For many riders, it is a pilgrimage site—the true starting line of their Shikoku journey. We gathered for photos, capturing not just the moment but also our passion for the challenge ahead.
Passing through Shiroyama Park, we glanced back and were struck by the sight of Matsuyama Castle, faintly visible atop the mountain, half-veiled in mist and drizzle. A castle upon a mountain—Shiroyama, “Castle Mountain”—its presence felt timeless and majestic.
🌸 The roads soon led us into the countryside, where traditional Japanese houses lined the way. Gardens without fences, gravel courtyards arranged in kare-sansui style, and a single maple tree planted with quiet elegance—these homes expressed a beauty unspoken. Framed by distant hills and lush greenery, the scene felt serene and untouched by time.
The weather continued with yesterday’s fine drizzle. Though it blurred our view of the Seto Inland Sea, it created ideal conditions for cycling—cool, refreshing, and deeply enjoyable. Raindrops pattered on helmets and splashed from the tires, adding a rhythm to our ride that felt almost poetic.
🚗 What touched us most was the kindness of the local people. Shikoku’s roads, built long ago, are often narrow, yet every vehicle treated us with remarkable courtesy. Drivers not only kept a safe distance but also stopped quietly at intersections, waiting patiently until we had passed before making their turn. This quiet respect filled us with gratitude and gave us even greater anticipation for the nine days of riding still to come.
🌊 By evening, we arrived in Niihama City, nestled between the Seto Inland Sea to the north and the Shikoku Mountains to the south. With its rich natural scenery, Niihama flourished as a mining hub during the Edo period and later grew into one of the leading industrial cities in the Seto region, centered around the Sumitomo conglomerate. Yet Niihama is also a city of art—famed Studio Ghibli animator Katsuya Kondō, known for works such as Kiki’s Delivery Service and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, was born here and now serves as the city’s tourism ambassador, lending Niihama a touch of Ghibli magic.
🌙 As night fell, we settled into our hotel. The streets glistened from the lingering drizzle, while our hearts burned bright with excitement. With the first day’s ride completed, our Shikoku story had only just begun.
