道の駅しもべは、バーベキュー施設や味噌づくり体験、フリーWi-Fi、テレワークスペースなど、様々な特徴を持つ道の駅です。
特に、アニメ「ゆるキャン△」とコラボした「道の駅しもべオートキャンプ場～ゆるキャン△の里～」は人気で、キャンプを楽しむことができます。

また、物産館では地元の伝統の品である「下部味噌」や「下部小梅」、それらを使った味噌飴や味噌羊羹などが販売されています。他にも、地元で採れた野菜や山菜なども購入できます。

食事処では、讃岐うどん「笑里」や、ジビエ料理を味わえる場所もあります。

施設内には、築120年の古民家が移築されており、昔の農機具や囲炉裏が展示されているのも特徴です。
