[Hokkaido Trip Vlog]ととのう、走る、癒される─北海道夫婦6泊7日旅⛰️🚲🦒 プライベートサウナ・美瑛サイクリング・OMO7旭川
HOKKAIDO Trip Vlog: A 6-night, 7-day trip to Hokkaido. We headed to Narita Airport. We boarded the 7:00 AM Jetstar flight to Asahikawa. We climbed the stairs to board. Narita → Asahikawa. We arrived in Asahikawa. We took the train to Asahikawa Station. Today, we’re going to Etanbetsu Marginal Sauna, a private sauna by reservation only! We plan to rent a car in Asahikawa and head to Etanbetsu, where the sauna is located. Along the way, we enjoyed a Hokkaido-style ekiben (station bento). We arrived at Asahikawa Station. It’s an egg-shaped object. At first glance, it looks egg-shaped, but it’s actually flat! This piece is apparently called “Tenpi.” ETANBETSU MARGINAL SAUNA . We arrived at Etanbetsu Marginal Sauna! As the name suggests, this is a place where you can enjoy a “sauna in the margins.” This sauna is by reservation only, and you can rent the entire facility by the hour. Apparently , the cold bath was made from stones assembled from Etanbetsu’s distinctive Blue Schist stratum. There are two showers. The sauna is spacious enough to lie down in. The wood-burning stove is a HUUM, made in Estonia, one of only a few in Japan. The room at the back is a rest area with a fireplace. Leaving the room leads to an open-air bathing area overlooking the Etanbetsu forest. Off to the sauna! Hot! Oh, it’s hot! Ugh, it’s cold! You can tell just how cold it is from my husband’s thrashing about. lol The reason we were able to splash around like this was because we had it all to ourselves. Cold! The water temperature is 12°C! It’s usually 15°C…! Ah! One minute! One minute is the goal! What! That long?! Ah! 30 seconds left! My heart’s stopping! Ah! No way! Impossible! Ah! He seemed to have calmed down both mentally and physically. After the cold bath, we took an open-air bath. Ah! It feels good! It’s the best. We calmed down listening to the birdsong. “Youth Village Observatory” Since we were there, we decided to stop by the observation deck at “Youth Village.” From the observation deck, we could see the entire northern area of Etanbetsu. This observation deck is a very pleasant place, surrounded by magnificent nature and clear air. Western Restaurant “Berry’s” We visited “Berry’s,” a Western restaurant highly recommended by a friend who lives in Asahikawa. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere with mostly table seating. We enjoyed a hearty hamburger steak, shrimp and vegetable ajillo, and a dessert platter that was far more generous than we expected. Everything was delicious! We definitely want to come back! “Biei Hill Cycling” Asahikawa Station to Bibaushi Station We arrived at Bibaushi Station! We rented electric cross bikes and set off! We cycled through the colorful hills, panting for breath. “Blue Pond” We also stopped at the old-style cafe (BEETLE CAFE) along the way. The hamburger was delicious! We continued cycling and found a stylish building. So cute! What is that place? Can we go inside? We timidly decided to go inside. It was a bakery with the aroma of wheat in the air. So beautiful! We bought some bread and ate it outside. It was the best bread we’ve ever had in our lives! Apparently, this bakery is a Michelin-starred bakery! No wonder it ‘s so delicious! We regained our strength from the delicious bread and resumed cycling. How was it? It’s cold! But it’s beautiful! It was so cold that day that it didn’t feel like May. Even with our full gear, including Heattech, Ultra Light Down, and coats, it was still cold… We managed to cover 70km in seven hours in the cold! I had left the entire itinerary to my husband, and had no idea we would ride so much. I gave up halfway through, and by the end, I was crying as I cycled. If my cross bike wasn’t electric, I’d probably be left behind in Biei…lol. Still, I’m overwhelmed with emotion to finally be able to cycle around Biei, something I’ve always dreamed of! “OMO7 Asahikawa by Hoshino Resorts” Today, we’re staying at “OMO7 Asahikawa.” The interior colors and sophisticated design are so cute, and just spending time here makes me happy. If I ever build a house, I’d love it to have an interior like this… The hotel is dotted with cute animals throughout. This board is called “Go-KINJO,” and it provides travelers with information only locals know. We decided to go to “Sushidokoro Miura,” featured on the board, for lunch tomorrow. We stayed in a “Studio Room.” The L-shaped layout is both functional and refreshing. “Bath/Sauna” This is the “Animal Lounge,” where you can relax after the sauna. It’s a place where you can play with various animals. I scraped together all the stuffed animals I could find. So cute. I realized that just having animals around can make the time flow so gently and sweetly. “Morning Buffet” The morning buffet at OMO7 was stylish and delicious. The buffet venue, decorated in dark green and gold, was a wonderful space that made me want to stay there forever. I had so much fun at OMO7 Asahikawa that I couldn’t take many videos. It was a hotel filled with relaxation and excitement. There were two monkeys riding on a reindeer. “Sushi Restaurant Miura” We went to “Sushi Restaurant Miura,” which was featured on the Go-KINJO board. The sushi, made right in front of us by the chef, was exquisitely delicious, with the bounty of the sea melting away in its deliciousness. “Asahiyama Zoo” We took a bus from Asahikawa Station to Asahiyama Zoo. So cute. We’ve arrived! This is a seal board handmade by the zookeepers. “Polar Bear” A baby polar bear. So tiny and so cute. So cute. That baby is resting its chin on a stone. So cute! It’s resting its chin on a stone. Why are babies so cute…?! The audience was smitten with the baby polar bear. This is a powerful polar bear. I can’t believe that baby will grow to this size one day…! So cute. It looks like a dog. What a big dog. The baby polar bear’s back is so adorable… It’s so cute I could look at it forever… My baby is so cute, isn’t he? He’s sleeping. It’s time for some fun! An Amur tiger and a lion. The tiger and lion cages are next to each other. The two are threatening each other across the fence. Roar! There were occasional moments when they barked at each other, creating a tense atmosphere. What will happen next? They’re staring at each other! Is it coming? It’s backing away… Huh? Huh! What does that mean? What happened? Aren’t those two friends? Their tails are cute. It’s a tense moment. The frequent confrontations between the two were a sight to behold. Snow leopards are better at running down cliffs than on flat ground, and apparently this is how they hunt for prey from the top of cliffs. The Amur leopard is an endangered species, with only 40 individuals thought to remain in the wild. This device allows you to observe a giraffe eating from the same height as its face. The giraffe’s mysterious patterns and silhouette make it hard to believe it is a member of the same species, and it looks almost like an ancient dinosaur. A hippopotamus jumping underwater. One more time! An ostrich. The sight of the ostrich sticking its neck out and then retracting it made me feel like I was experiencing a 3D attraction. “Red Panda” Is he chasing another? So cute. What a cool angle. Just like the cover photo. Chimpanzees banging cymbals. While the chimpanzee in the middle was banging his cymbal, the surrounding chimpanzees were fighting furiously. When he started banging his cymbal again, the audience laughed, thinking the chimpanzees were about to start fighting again… “Furano Cheese Factory” Asahikawa → Furano “Furano Cheese Factory” At Furano Cheese Factory, you can sample cheese made from Furano’s fresh milk, milk a cow, and learn about the history of cheese. These are product packaging for cheeses from around the world. Now, we’re going to try making cheese for the first time in our lives. Exciting! The venue looked like this. Many parents and children participated. Finally, we drew a picture on the packaging and the cheese-making was complete. At Furano Pizza Workshop, you can enjoy pizzas baked by artisans who trained in Naples. The cheese was rich and delicious. Menya Yukikaze: Day 5 of my Hokkaido trip. Today, I arrived at Cape Kamui. Kamui means god in the Ainu language. Apparently, this place was once a sacred place off-limits to women. The spectacular view of the cliffs and the Sea of Japan is breathtaking! Cafe Morihiko. We arrived at the popular cafe Morihiko in Maruyama, Sapporo. It’s a two-story wooden house with a red tin roof and ivy covering, like something out of a Ghibli movie. We enjoyed the fragrant caramelized “Jiboost” and the uplifting “seasonal cake.” The sweetness of the cake blended with the bitterness of the dark roast coffee, enveloping me in a quiet sense of happiness. It was a relaxing time, surrounded by the retro atmosphere and aroma of coffee. “Midori no Kaze Resort Kitayuzawa” We stayed at “Midori no Kaze Resort Kitayuzawa,” a fitting end to our Hokkaido trip. Located in the mountains near Lake Toya, this hotel offers approximately 20 different open-air baths in the midst of nature. The hotel features a stylish reading space called “Kutsurogi Library Noguchi Bunko.” Guests can enjoy reading while surrounded by the natural beauty of Kitayuzawa. There’s also a private room for one person called “The Study Dreamer.” This is what the standard room looks like. It’s a relaxing Japanese space with a 10-tatami Japanese-style room and a twin bedroom. Buffet in the evening! “Mini Vegetable Garden” —something buried in the field. I wonder if this soil is edible? Apparently, this soil is made from breadcrumbs, olives, and onions…! So cute. The buffet area was spacious, and the food was delicious! After dinner, it was time for our long-awaited hot spring bath. Surrounded by forest, the large 500-sq. m open-air bath and 20 different scented baths are a real treat! It was an exciting experience, just like a theme park! After the hot springs, we enjoyed the stargazing we had booked. It was my first time seeing the moon through a real telescope, so I was thrilled. We received a DIY planetarium kit as a souvenir! This concludes our Hokkaido travel Vlog! This trip was another wonderful one to remember. After the buffet, my husband had to go to the bathroom, and it was an emergency. It seemed he had reached his limit. As soon as the elevator opened, he made a run for it. Will he make it in time…?
