🇯🇵 LIVE bike ride to Matsudo – mushroom hunting
How are you all doing guys? Man, right today we’re doing something a little bit different. Big shout out to JP and Lee. I know JP was requesting this kind of like format. I’m just going to test it out on live. Uh obviously it’s live so I can’t and chop everything. Whoa. [ __ ] Um, you are going to hear a lot of wind, so I’m worried about um, we might head into Matsudo area, I think. Have a bit of a mooch around. Maybe make some content there. Get some melon pan, which I’ve never featured on here. How you doing, all man? Yeah, if it gets too windy, I’ll just cut the I’ll cut the live stream off and um I can just make content just off off live. What’s up, Ivan? Wait, big shout out to Australia in the building, man. Big shout out to Esco from Australia. I don’t know. It’s um just checking it. There’s not really headwind per se, but uh there is a slight wind which does affect the ride out, but it’s not like massively crazy. What’s up, man? How you doing, man? Yeah, man. Just going to chill. We got to get to the motel. How’s the sound qualityesque? Aka Ivan in chat. I’m actually looking for some mushrooms as well. Um, let me I’m going to have to kind of set up the rig. I don’t have a mount on my bike, so I do have my selfie stick, which is going to be a little bit difficult to like ride with one and magic. You know it, man. Mario Koopa, Tony. Every time I come here, uh, I have to go up this [ __ ] hill. Now the shrooms obviously sh mushrooms grow anywhere but generally around trees and because we’ve had this rainfall. Um basically mushrooms will be out and it’s a little bit humid still. What’s up demon wolf in the chat? What’s up bro? Welcome to the madness. So, apparently the mushrooms that I found last week, um, my friend mailed me, he’s a bit of a mushroom expert, and he said those could be this type, but they look very similar. Um, like I said, I don’t advocate people here picking wild mushrooms for whatever you want to do with them. Wink wink. Um, it’s always best to get them. What’s up, Ashina building? Yeah, shrooms, mate. We’re off screw hunting. Believe it or not, there’s a spot down here that um I found loads of different types of mushrooms. They’re all scattered about. Big shout out to the chat. And those shrooms are located down there. I’ll tell you a story. I was in those woods. Yeah. And these [ __ ] crows were trying to attack me, man. It was gnarly. Uh, I’m on the Edea route and over yonder is Sky Tree, which I’ve biked to before. That’s a Sakuza area. Um, and it’s about it’s about 50 60 kms. It takes about maybe 2 hours to bike there. It’s It’s a nice I’m going to do the ride maybe next week. And in winter when I do these bike streams, you’ll see Mount Fuji just there with the in the middle of this screen. You can’t see it today cuz uh man, I’m out of breath just chatting to you guys. Uh Chin the mate, you’ve been to Japan, right? Look, they all nest in I can there’s mate there’s about [ __ ] hund hundred of them there. You see? It’s [ __ ] nuts, man. Cuz they’ve all got nests up there and in that little bit of bog, whatever. Um, you need Wellington because it’s really like boggy. Is that a good description? So this is the Edagawa route mat. It’s one of the longest bike routes in Japan and you can bike like over 100k. Oh 200. It goes all the way from Tokyo all up towards Ibaraki Saitama. Some pro bikers here. I’m wearing my helmet today because I’m uh vlogging. So, there might be a chance that I’ll either fall off and injure myself. It’s a bit crowded today cuz the weather’s dropped. But yeah, it’s the Edgawa route. That’s a good ride. Not Not Yeah, Ashley, I’ll see you in January, man. We’ll see you in January, bro. Get some kebabs. But yeah, the temps are great right now, man. What’s up, Zorax in the chat? We’re currently on the Edgawa route heading towards uh Matsudo. How you doing, man? Uh we’re off mushroom Oh, [ __ ] I can’t go this way. We’re off mushroom hunting, believe it or not. How you doing, man? So, it’s all soccer right now. Let me switch back. So, how you all doing, guys? It’s probably late in the UK. Australia is about an hour difference. Obviously, Japan’s right. Oh, what are the kids playing? Oh, they’re playing soccer or football. Um, and at the other side, this is quite an interesting area cuz near the river, um, they play all kinds of sports. BA baseball mainly, but soccer, rugby, um frisbee, and it all all there’s so many like soccer pitches running from the Edagawa into the Arakawa River. God, we’re seeing some bouncing tits right here, man. God damn, bouncy bouncy. Woo! God damn. She had some big melons, man. Woo! She had some big [ __ ] melons, man. Right. The mushrooms might be down here. What’s your favorite sport? Uh, football. I I like all sports really. Uh, the thing is with sports, I prefer playing it than actually watching it. Um, I like tennis, swimming, biking. Now, I did find some [ __ ] huge mushrooms down here last year. Uh, let’s have a bit of a scavenge. And there’s [ __ ] all kinds of weird bugs still around Japan. I know. find some Asian feeasants. There’s quite a lot of feeasants around. And by the way, this river here, the Edgawaku, is renowned for like, how do I say, people dumping dead bodies in there. There’s probably a lot of dead bodies floating around at the bottom. A lot of murders going on here. Yeah. Take care, man. Bye-bye, Esco. Right. The mushrooms or kinako if I remember were kind of down here. And if any of you guys uh into mushrooms, let me know. There’s some tombbo here. Some Japanese dragonfly. Uh ah I saw this. there. So, the mushrooms were down here, but as you can see here, the they keep redeveloping or fixing the land. We’re actually on the gravel route. I’m actually one of the top guys on this route cuz it’s all gravel and a lot of the riders out in Japan are on racing bikes. I’m on my mountain bike. How about your spot? Who your favorite players? Oh, obviously Michael Jordan. I like basketball as well. Let me take my glasses off. Can’t see very well. There. There should be some mushrooms here. This is all been filled in though. I don’t have my glasses. No, I don’t seem to be much here cuz this used to quite flat. Um, and they used there was a lot of mushrooms here way back. I think mushrooms are like dead bodies in the West Indies. They call them jumbi umbrella. Jumbi being an alternative word for zombie. Oh, really? Maybe it’s of like uh the mycelia, right? They got filerociphins, which is the chemical compound which gets you [ __ ] up. There doesn’t seem to be much here, guys, cuz it’s, like I said, it’s been uh filled in with gravel, but there’s lots of other insects and stuff floating around. Are you excited to come, bro? cuz I know you’re into your your ghost and like witchcraft and stuff like that. Uh Ashd, so I presume you’re you’re quite fully aware about myia and stuff like that. Um I’m also on I naturalist as well, which is a app that you can use to track things that you see. And they’ve actually just re well not recently but I managed to download their new app which is a lot better than the um the old one. If any of you guys are interested in mushrooms, let me know if you know any good links. But I’m in a Japanese mushroom group and man, there are a lot of fly arajics out here, man. The red ones, the brown ones. There’s like maybe 10 different species of the same family. Um, there’s a lot of dragonfly here. Japan is known to be one of the best places in the world for dragon flies. Can we get in there, guys? That looks a bit sketchy, isn’t it? My bike. All right. Yeah. No one’s going to No one That’s a good thing about Japan. No one [ __ ] steals [ __ ] Now, with mushrooms, once you got a bit of rainfall and you can wake up early morning, they normally pop out cuz it is kind of like mushy season right now and they’ll be in certain patches. I can’t I think it was actually here where I found the last these were like these white these huge white mushrooms man. It’s pretty mad. Oh yeah, there’s none here. But I definitely know where there will be some. What’s everybody’s plans for the weekend? Right, we need to get back through here. Holy [ __ ] The kebab father going intel in the wilds. Sun’s out now. [ __ ] Yeah. Well, we have so much land here. It’s It’s quite phenomenal. I’ve got to be careful on my bike because it’s a bit bumpy. I don’t know if I should set up my uh selfie stick. That be might be a bit more challenging though to ride. Hold up, guys. Ash has put um going to watch Arsenal versus City on Sunday at the Emirates. Oh, nice man. Good luck, bro. Up the gunners. A guy at my work supports uh Tottenham. We got another Manu fan. I’m actually secretly a Manu fan. Uh I don’t hold me on that, bro. Um, well, good luck, man. The thing is with like watching Premier League in the UK is that you have to wake up really early to uh watch the game, like 3:00 a.m. But, as you know, in Japan, probably the Arsenal bar that you go to in Tokyo is open early in the morning. There’s so many butterflies out today. Oh, I got 17 people watching. Really? What’s up, guys? If you just joined the live. We’re on a bike ride mission and we’re going to be heading into maybe Matsudo. I’ve got a food a few food reviews to do. Don’t know if Ash will know this. Ashd in the chat’s coming to Japan in January and I’ll be his, uh, kebab tour guide, you want to call it that. Um, uh, there’s a famous Japanese like we call it melon pan. It’s like a Japanese bread that’s like it’s cut into like a looks like a melon. And it’s it’s laced in sugar. Uh there’s different kinds of them, different flavors. Um there’s a really really nice melon pan shop located in Matsuro. Oh, welcome to the chat. Uh was it I can’t read it. Pockets. Loving the new jungle intro, man. Wicked. Oh, by the way, can you see this? This is [ __ ] up, right? That is dung [ __ ] And I don’t know what animal that is. Now, Japan is kind of renowned for bears, uh, racundas, uh, tanukis, but that feces is [ __ ] big. So, if anybody in the chat is a dung expert and can tell me what animal has defecated you, let me know that. That’s a freaking baseball. What is that, dude? What? [ __ ] hell, man. Um, yeah, Pockets, man. Thank you so much. Yeah. The reason why I had to swap out the last intro, the dubstep godfather track, is because um I kept getting copyrighted. And it was kind of weird because like it’s only a very small segment of the track and I’ve been using it, as you all know, for most of my videos. Some get stried, some don’t. And I I really hate YouTube for that. Anyway, I found a license free jungle track and I put it on and JP was like, “Oh man, that’s wicked.” Getting back to my roots in music, man. The old jump up style. But yeah, I like it. Where are you from, Pockets, man? I’m sorry. I like I said, there’s so many um avatars and names that I don’t I don’t know. Are you on my Facebook or Instagram or are you just a normal regular subscriber? How you doing, man? [Applause] Now, you do see quite a lot of Asian feeasants out here, which are really [ __ ] beautiful, man. But yeah, I mean, what do you guys think in the chat? You think I should do more of these like um bike riding videos where I bike somewhere then go to a a spot and review some food. I’m not quite sure. Uh just to let you know um for Ashd this happened a couple of years ago. We had a really hot summer and I think I was wearing shorts till like the middle of November. It was so hot and we had a really cold winter like going into like January, February, March. And I think that’s what’s going to happen this year going into the next. Um, [Applause] but we’ve had a really hot summer and uh if you’re coming to Japan in the summertime here, just be prepared. It’s not fun. If you’re here for a week or so, it’s not too bad, but two weeks. Yeah. Any longer, man. Uh, basically the temperature out here was getting into the 40s and it’s only just in the last two days that the temperatures have gone got down. But yeah, bro, it’s been really hot. Really hot. Record-breaking stuff, man. [Applause] Where are you from? Pockets. Right guys, I’m just going to share my my content. Video might just go on and off. Hold up. But yeah, I mean coming from like the UK, I’m kind of used to the cold weather and I like wearing hoodies and like baggy jeans and like you know just keeping warm. Um, so like autumn time, December, uh, November, it’s really good to just to walk around and do [ __ ] right? But in summer, you’re just [ __ ] sweating like mad and you can’t keep cool. It’s not like in winter where you can make yourself warm, right? If you’re too hot, you take your hoodie off or whatever. Back in the UK. Oh man. Wicked man. Big up the UK in a building without getting too political. I’ve been keeping an eye on the news. And yeah, the UK, man. It’s baked. Some crazy [ __ ] going on. Hold up, guys. kind of difficult blogging and holding the handlebars one hand. Yeah, it’s kind of really mad. Um I mean I’ve been out of the UK now for like 16 years. Obviously I’m not going to going to go about a skate park there. Matsov built a nice skate park for people. So that’s a good thing. Yeah, it’s just um I don’t know. Really sucks, man. I’ve just seen just a massive decline in what’s going on with the UK. Um, I mean, I have no room to comment now because like I I I treat Japan as my quote unquote home now. Um, there’s normally some mushies on these fields, but what happens is the the ground keepers come in early morning and they cut the grass. All the mushies are gone. But uh um these are my kind of comments about what’s happening in the UK and it’s kind of happening with Japan almost. There’s lots of anti-immigration protests going on in Tokyo right now. Um like I I can tell you my story. So when I came to Japan in 2008, where I’m at now, um there was only like five foreigners. There was me, Rocco, Dave, there’s like five, six gajin, Brendan, there’s like I was the only Brit, there was like three Americans, one Aussie, one Canadian. And it was like in my town it was like you were I was we were kind of classed as like kind of celebrities almost to use that word. What I mean by that is that um we stood out but we had some great times you know like drinking with random Japanese people on the on the street comini bees and whatnot. Um, it was great, but now it’s just a massive influx of like Vietnamese, Nepalese, um, whatnot, and it just doesn’t feel like I’m living in Japan anymore. It’s kind of like weird. Um, but on the other hand, generally the people in my area are pretty cool. like it’s a mix of different nationalities and we all get along. There’s no beef, there’s no fighting. Um, and the Vietnamese people have like brought in like loads of business to my uh hometown in Japan. So, there’s lots of like Vietnamese restaurants and supermarkets, Nepali restaurants and supermarkets. I can buy cheap food all get all my spices, you know? It’s great, but it just feels like overkill, right? I came here to move to Japan to be part of Japan’s culture and whatnot, but it’s all changed. And I think that’s very much like the UK, but on a massive scale, right? I think people can get along. I think people can respect each other, right? I think what it is, it’s just the whole thing of like illegal immigration. That’s the issue. I have no qualms about people coming to Japan legally, working, paying tax, cuz that’s what right now Japan needs. Um, but when it goes overkill, that’s when the issues start. Um, so that’s the main problem. There’s the boys over here, the New York Yankees. So, you can see all the baseball guys there, man. Right, we’re kind of close to the the mushroom spot. Anyway, political rant over. Move that box there, mate. [Music] Oh man, look look look how peaceful this is. Like I work in a really stressful job and I don’t get chance to do any exercise but when I do this is my main form of exercise is going on the otherwa and going on a bike ride and getting away from concrete people trains the madness of Tokyo right and uh it’s quiet it’s peaceful man it’s really chilled and uh for anyone that’s in that kind of like situation man. Bike riding is a really good stress relief [Applause] and I’ve seen snakes, feeasants, loads of insects. There’s just so much here, man. Foxes. I love this bike route. It’s real chilled. Just hoping we can find some mushrooms. So guys, are you guys um getting a takeaway tonight? You getting a kebab? That’s D. Pockets in the building. [Applause] Oh, what? I can smell like paint. I love the smell of like car paint, man. Aerosols. [Applause] Yeah, you get really big grasshoppers out here. [Applause] It’s baseball stuff going on everywhere. Okay, we’re nearly at the point of where the shrooms are. And I normally have a bit of a break as a homeless guy there. Home Japan, man. Yeah, he’s collecting cans and stuff. Quite sad to see, but in Japan, the homeless people are pretty cool. They’re not like drug addicts or alkies. They just want to be away from like Japanese society and whatnot. They just don’t want to be part of the the matrix, which is totally fine. I get it. Well, the chat seems dead, man. you got any questions to ask me about moving or living to Japan, please feel free to uh type in the chat. [Applause] And it’s Saturday, man. Here. After I do this bike ride, I will be doing a 1,000 m swim. [Applause] cuz we’re going to be doing about 20 kms on the bike. We call it the the bike loop track [Applause] and gunshots fired to that guy. English Heats. What a knob that guy is. [Applause] Jab of the on crack. I called him out on one of his videos. He’s eating a hot vindaloo. I’m like, “Bro, these videos are redundant.” Like, how many people do those videos now? Oh, there you go. Asian feeasant. Can you see that pheasant over there? The Asian feeasant is different to the European one. They have like insanely beautiful feathers. There’s no way that I’m going to get close to him, but or her. Can you see? They’re really quick. He’s off. They’re really beautiful. There you go. There’s the pheasant. Can you see that? They’re beautiful, man. Asian feeasant there. Right there. He’s pretty calm. It’s pretty chilled out, guys. Asian feeasant like David Atenburgh. There’s no way we can get um close to him. You get a lot of uh king fishes down here as well. He’s there. He’s off. Yeah, around this area you get a lot of like um emperor kingfishes. Um I’ve never managed to get a really good photo of one. I need a better camera and a better lens setup, but um kingfishes, I think there’s like three different species of them in Japan. Um and yeah, they’re just really hard. I I see other people like take amazing photographs of them, but um I find them really finicky cuz they just keep moving around. Anyway, we’re in the mushroom area now. Matsurokawa. Real nice spot to come to. Right. The mushrooms. There’s always a lot of them in. Oh, they haven’t cut the [ __ ] grass. [ __ ] Oh, that’s going to be a real pain to get into, man. Oh, what? Hold up. I I hope I don’t get attacked or bit by some [ __ ] Jesus, man. Normally they cut this path out and the shrooms I found some amazing ones a few years ago on some rotten wood. I’m going to get wet here. It’s been uh raining. Holy crap. This is overgrown, man. We’re in the jungle. You got to be careful cuz there’s still some [ __ ] up insects that if you get bit, you can get [ __ ] up. They’re normally down here. There doesn’t It’s It’s really badly uh down here. Down there. I can’t see any. Once they cut all this back. Oh, there you go. There’s some There are some there, but on the wood. You see? Yeah, it’s a bit too overgrown. The floor is really compacted down, but you do get quite a lot of them out here. We might not have any luck today, guys. Holy [ __ ] This is the to be honest, this is the worst that I’ve seen this place. Normally all of this has been cut back. That’s a [ __ ] pain, man. [ __ ] Actually, I do need to take a piss as well. Yeah, but this this spot here is real nice. They have some nice cosmos flowers up there in the summer. Well, we can just have a bit of a scout around here. Oh man. And in Japan the they call it the red tombbo, the aka which normally comes out in November. It’s the last card main ordinated species to be out. It’s the last species and then obviously the next rotation starts in round about March. Going to bed, mate. It’s 1:00 a.m. Okay. Good night, bro. Take care, Ash. Like I said guys, I need to do more of these live feeds just to tap in with you guys. Just uh pissed off that the the conditions today not right for shrooms. I think if I go to an actual park park will be loads. That’s my stuff. There’s the bike. on the ones and twos. I don’t know if it’s Is the Is the lighting good, man? Oh, yeah. Lighting’s pretty good. I do need to take a piss. I know where I can go for a pee down there. You c can you pause the live on here? Is that possible? I don’t really use uh FB live um YouTube live. Oh [ __ ] this guy’s coming. Anyway, we’ll head on. But you you guys are going to have like freaking ver you guys are going to have like vertigo. Right, let’s crack on. We’re kind of like near Matsudo. Actually, I might go back on the on the road route on the way back and do the check out the Veladrome. Well, at least we’ve seen um an Asian feeasant today. [Applause] What a nice ride. I am sweating, but it’s a good sweat. It’s not too intense. Still got two people watching. Ooh, some wood there. When you find old wood, you tend to find mushrooms. the spores. I need to take my glasses off. Hold up. What is that? Yeah, it’s dead, man. It’s dead as a dodo. You can see here they they have done some clear up work cuz this area here gets really like jungly. I can see a lot better. I think this is a theme. Oh, it’s a No, it’s a wood wood dove. Yeah, that animal dung is weird, man. It’s like a bamboo forest. [Applause] more weird animal dong. I know bears kind of like are in the north in certain areas. Whoa. There is also down here a really nice reserve. I can’t bring my bike in. I have my light bike lock. Um, but a lot of bird photographers come down here. Let’s go here. Proper chilled man Full.
