Today we are taking a second class train from Hat Yai to Phattalung Thailand. This train adventure begins in Songkhla and we have to say that this train travel experience was truly incredible. Join us on a journey from two relatively unknown cities in Thailand to yet another unknown city. This is why we love travelling and moving around like locals.

Everybody good morning uh usually we are sort  of showing you where we are but we never show   you actually how we get there and that’s exactly  what we’re going to do today we have a travel day  

As you can see by the amount of bags that I  have um on me right now to carry anyway we’re   going to go from sunla all the way to patal  and the first step to do that is to get to  

Hai from sunla and we’re currently trying to  figure out what kind of a bus or van we have   to take y so we made it made our way to the  [ __ ] Tower of Sanka and this is supposedly  

Where you can get uh buses that will bring you  out to Hai we’ve no idea what the cost will be   but I’m sure it’s going to be more affordable  than taking a grab also a little bit more of  

An authentic experience so these seem to be  I think these are stio or s and uh it stands   for two two seats or two rows and um these  are amazing for getting around the inside  

Of the city but I don’t know if they’re going to  take us all the way out to Hai we need to figure   that out so I think we need to talk to some  people here at the clock tower to figure out  

Exactly where we need to be going hello where  are you going you go to ha with for the bus [Music] right right right right to the right than thank you I now created uh on Google translate on the  app I just created a large sign for us that says  

We want to go to ha Junction and I’m just going  to show it to everybody that cares to look at   my phone people are so incredibly helpful here  how helpful that’s like the third person that  

Came up to us already at the clock tower and  they said we got to go around the corner here   try and figure out where we need to be going  cuz it doesn’t look very active around here in  

Terms of buses and stuff like that but maybe  there’s a specific bus stop this seems to be   a bus stop here this might be the one the is  getting attacked by trees and uh what to the

Dog woof woof woof um this might be the  bus I don’t know let’s figure it out and   uh we might have to ask a couple more people  but this is the reality the reality I guess   of full-time travel guys it’s not uh hooking  taxis or being driven around or flying first  

Class or anything fancy it’s one two three four  five backpacks and we have no idea where we’re   going or how we’re going to go there so let’s  see if we can ask some more people about what  

Direction we need to be going there’s a cafe  down there maybe we can ask there where the   bus stop is yeah let’s go ask a couple more  locals and see where exactly we need to be standing what station Train Station train station  

Nothing you can but just it’s okay H and  then we take grab is also good I think you okay ah nice cka this is nice it’s sort of I know we’ve never  actually told you but we uh were in P for a while  

Once um I think the first time we were in Thailand  actually we went to p and the bus looked exactly   like this so you just have a little bit of space  here to put your stuff basically and other than  

That it’s fine though like you have enough  space sort of for your legs and everything   so I think it’s fine and it’s uh 35 butt per  person 35 butt per person so only 70 butt you  

Get all the way out to hat ey um I think if you  book a grab if you take a grab from here to hat   ey it’s probably around 300 bu so definitely  saving a whole chunk of money there and this  

Is this is a there AC and we’re in a minivan  and I don’t know how many people are going to   be coming with us but I think it’s going to be a  pretty comfortable journey and it’s only a quick  

Maybe 30 35 minute drive in this minivan yeah and  then we have to figure out how we’re going to get   the train to Patong we have our tickets but we  have no idea where the station is yesterday we  

Actually talked to a girl from puket a Thai girl  from puket and she explained to us how to book   tickets online because I sort of was doing it on  different apps that were not the official ones I  

Was just like sort of booking on one to go Asia  or something like that so uh that was not right   and also you have to spend sometimes a little  bit more than what the actual ticket is so uh  

Yeah we finally found the right platform and I  think Luke is maybe going to put it down in the   description so that if you are a foreigner and you  don’t know how to book tickets you will find out there Very interesting actually the driver just  put a basket like just hold it back for us   to take it we weren’t actually sure what we’re  going to do with the basket but it seems like   everybody’s just uh paying their Fair basically  or trying to figure it out together and uh even  

If you need change or anything you just take  you put something in and take your change out   of that little basket basically and uh yeah very  trusty sort of system H I believe in Europe that   would never actually work never people would  just be pocketing the money for themselves  

But here in Thailand it’s amazing people are  very very honest very straightforward really amazing Oh wrong way yeah what this is bye-bye we were dropped off as close to the  Hai station as possible hello hello sorry  

And uh we’re just going to walk the rest now to  the station but I don’t know how how far it is   exactly I think it’s like 700 M or something  we’re pretty close by to the station so that  

Worked out to be incredibly uh good for us is 35  B per person and it took us very very close to   the station we are just let me check now hold  on I got a 650 M from the station so we don’t  

We don’t have fire to walk at all this is uh it’s  working out perfectly so far and our train doesn’t   leave for like another 2 or 3 hours so be plenty  of time yeah we’re actually really really early  

Because uh we weren’t sure how the vent situation  was going to turn out so we’re just going to we   just kind of said okay it’s better to be early  than too late so I’m actually not sure where we  

Have to go at all I guess forward is the only  way but we’re sort of walking directly in the   traffic that’s maybe not so good so let’s walk  in here might be a little bit safer potentially

Yeah all right so the last 700 M to the station  we’re just going to walk we also didn’t have   breakfast yet so maybe we are going to have some  breakfast at the station I do believe usually they  

Have Foods at stations surprise and uh yeah we’re  just going to have some food there then before we   get onto the train you know where to go we just  got to take a right up here and then another  

Left and then we should be there almost oh nice  thankfully it’s not raining right now oh my God   it’s been raining literally 7 days a week uh we  wanted to film videos here in Hai and stuff like  

That but it’s literally just been raining nonstop  so haven’t been too lucky with the weather lately   yeah that’s exactly what I what I wanted to say as  well we actually have been to hatii several times  

Trying to film a video but it was just raining  non-stop all of the time so we didn’t really get   around to doing that so sorry no hatii video but  we are in Hai right now so maybe that makes up  

For it guys we made it now inside of Hai Junction  or Hai train station and we’re grabbing ourselves   a quick caffeine hit before we Bard the train  again we’re considerably early right now it’s   uh still another like 2 hours or so until our  train comes we just we’re always on the safe  

Side we always arrive way earlier than we’re  supposed to especially since we started taking   trains um around Asia because you never really  know what’s going to happen could be a delay   sometimes we had trains that left even earlier  than they were scheduled to this is our first  

Ever train experience in Thailand so we have no  idea what to expect and we’re we’re going to be   taking second class train from here to patal Long  which is somewhere very very few people visit and  

That’s the whole reason that we want to go and  check out patal and that’s where we’re going to   be spending New Year’s as well but this here is  the Train Coffee shop as you can probably read  

There at the top this is where you get your  caffeine fix they also have some snacks and   stuff like that but uh yeah we’re going to grab a  quick coffee and then relax before we board this train that’s very good actually I don’t know why  um we started ordering espressos like only two  

Weeks ago because one of us wanted to have like an  espresso but like we me the small black no sugar   type of espresso but we received this and then now  we are Thai espresso junkies if you want H it’s  

Like espresso but with milk and I believe some  sugar probably in there because obviously it’s   sweet and then iced and it’s very nice actually  and it like it shoots you awake if you will like  

You take one Sip and it’s like pow awake true it  has very quickly become our coffee of choice but   we’re going to enjoy this now and uh we should  be taking the train soon enough and then it’s  

Only a quick train ride to Patong I believe  it’s only roughly around an hour or so on the   train so should be smooth sailing we’ll see what  happens we’re obviously going to show you guys our   accommodation what it looks like and stuff like  that as well let’s go to paal waiting for the  

Train now and we’re just in front of the platform  that we’re supposed to be at and basically it’s a   large waiting area I guess where people sit  here wait for your train and then everybody   goes to their respective platform I have to say  the experience so far has been very positive we  

Walked into the train station and immediately uh  a military member of the military came over to us   asked us what it where it is we’re going what’s  the train he brought us over over here told us  

To wait then another lovely Thai woman came over  to us started talking to us asked us if we need   help um and told us they guide she guided Us  in the as to where what platform we’re going   to have to go to really really amazing people  here so friendly makes everything makes travel  

Days incredibly smooth and comfortable um it’s  just overall an incredible experience and uh   definitely I’m looking forward to traveling  through the rest of Thailand on these trains   because there is literally a line that takes you  from the very deep south all the way up to Bangkok  

And then all the way further up into places like  changai Etc but uh very positive experience of far guys Yeah yeah okay guys it’s time to board the  train we’re currently trying to figure out   where we need to go this is number four and  we are in cabin number five so this one here   [Music] perfect it’s pretty chaotic here at the  station this train is going basically from yala  

All the way to Bangkok so very very busy so many  people it’s just like the entire station is just   getting onto this train yeah yeah it’s really  really hectic put we’re very excited to see what  

Sort of scenery we can see all along the way on  this journey [Music] all right let’s go [Music] in wow this is cool I love it we found our seats now I  need Luke to move the luggage

Up while trying not to hit an uncle  or an auntie yeah it’s a it’s a tight   squeeze in here guys there’s a lot of  people a lot a lot of people here but   plenty of luggage space I’m not going  to lie so we should be fine for our luggage

Hello you want to sit down maybe okay I’m  sitting oh my God Jesus Christ that was   more exhausting than it should have been cuz  people are coming from both sides and we’re   so sort of tall and big obviously so we’re  trying to squeeze through so we’re too big  

For this situation but the seating arrangement  is very nice yeah there’s a lot of uh plenty of   leg space and there seems to be loads of  of uh fans so I’m sure that the air flow   here is good plus the window is wide open  so once the train gets going it’s going to  

Be nice nice and Breezy let’s just hope that  that uh rainy season holds off for like the   next hour if not uh I hope this these windows  are closable somehow so we’re going to get  

Very wet if not guy behind you oh there you  go he knows how it it is you’re the window professional there’s a lady oh somebody’s actually  selling chicken as well a lady just came past uh   selling tea and uh matcha and coffee and we  immediately went for the taii tea two times  

You obviously get the ice in a bag and then the  taii tea with milk and probably pre sugared and   everything as well so that was perfect and  she only wanted um 30 butt per tea which   is absolutely perfect and now we have a nice  afternoon tea while we’re on the way toal uh  

I believe sh was just selling soft drinks as well  everybody’s selling uh something here it’s really   amazing you can get pretty much anything you want  you can do a little bit of shopping and uh this is   basically what it is if you guys are wondering the  conversion rate incredibly affordable for getting  

Some refreshments you have a bag full of ice and  plenty of tea as well perfect oh this lady is also   selling chicken that chicken really smells nice  smells smells really good amazing do it yourself   TIY I’m such a like I don’t know I’m not very  light-handed let’s say it like this motorically  

I’m not a good I’m not good at this I don’t know  how to do it without putting the ti tea everywhere oh oh my God I’m so proud of me guys I  did it and now you have a TI tea in a  

Bag that’s full of ice put the straw in the  bag put one of these guys here around it for   safety reasons you know you never know  and now you have your do it yourself of TIY oh very sweet nice though very

Sweet in a lot of the areas that we’re driving  through uh you can actually see the aftermath   of rainy season check this out this looks like  uh it’s not supposed to be so flooded obviously   parts of it might be Mangrove type of area  where it would usually be flooded and but it  

Doesn’t look like all of this is supposed to  be flooded so yeah um I wasn’t sure if we’re   actually going to see any of that but there  you go I have been seeing a few lives here  

And there on Tik Tok um where you could see how  flooded some areas in the south of Thailand are   and know it’s like really really like not scary  but like let’s say unsettling to see um how high  

The water is standing in a lot of the areas and  I’m actually really surprised that the train can   travel regardless of it’s basically Crossing  through all of this like flooded area as you   can see the floor down here seems to be a little  bit elevated but everything else it’s just really flooded okay

Guys [Music] [Music] you’re such a gentleman helping me with   my luggage I I got stuck in between  the chairs between the seats with my backpack he made it I was so scared that the  train was going to start driving while I’m still

Inide guys we made it [Music] two this  is where we’re going to be for a while   wow what a beautiful beautiful train ride very  enjoyable incredibly quick um very clean train   as well the views were Amazing Thailand is so  green luscious and beautiful and uh as Naomi  

Said quite a lot of flooding unfortunately  but hopefully fingers CR there won’t be too   much rain here in and uh riding those types  of trains through the countries it’s one of   my favorite activities to do so I’m kind of  sad that it’s already over but we’re going to  

Be in patal for a week and then we can continue  riding this train North and I cannot wait wave hi the nice uncle had to wave so nice hello okay so made our way very quickly  very close to the the train station thankfully  

But we made it to our hotel we’re going  to check in and show you guys the room   situation everything and then we might  grab a bite to eat as well it’s feeling   pretty hungry and it’s pretty late in the  day haven’t really had much food yet so I  

Nearly fell on the flat floor Yepi was nearly  gone on the first entrance oh they have free bikes oh big enough okay are you from palatal yes yeah oh nice and   go straight okay on our way  to the room now yeah oh I go

First oh this is nice yeah you  go first we don’t know where to go TV and yeah open huh and on this my okay 23  is okay little bit cold water oh great okay number zero and this one TV on TV oh English TV sports

Oh Sky wow haven’t had that we never had  that before Superior obviously to put B   on who shouldn’t have been put on Chelsea and Liverpool oh Wii oh yeah connect  oh perfect and call number z z zero oh

Perfect are you oh yeah okay you’re welcome  thank you so much thank you thank you oh wait   okay our shoes are still outside that’s all  right that’s all right any whoers Welcome to   our room we have English TV we haven’t had  English TV in uh I don’t know over a year I  

Want to say oh in India we kind of had indish uh  we kind of had English TV but uh yeah well Indian   version let’s have a look at the bathroom y  we are experiencing it with us together oh  

Look a toilet surprise oh look a toilet oh  look a shower surprise it’s pretty big one   though quite a big bathroom plenty of space  that’s for sure very clean super clean Super   yeah super spacious I love the they have two  elephants for us on the bed how cute let’s see  

What type of a view we have here parking space  you have the parking lot view so nothing crazy special pretty large balcony though so this is  all right and yeah first impression first look   out onto patal long we literally just walked  very quickly from the train station to here  

Which is only like 3 or 4 minutes walking um  but first impressions of Patong obviously it’s   a cloudy pretty gray day right now but it’s  pretty beautiful it is incredibly local nobody   tourist wise so we literally got off the train  and in the in the time that we walked from the  

Train to this hotel like 20 people said hi to us  people are stopping in their cars being like why   is there white people here so this is usually our  favorite type of place to come uh because usually  

It’s the most the best food best personalities  like you saw with the guy that just showed us   the room super nice we met a really nice guy  selling stuff he was a little bit creepy but  

He was really nice as well um yeah amazing people  so far yeah and uh very excited to check out more   of this everybody sort of stops to wave at us  and I do believe that this is probably one of  

The places where you would be able to get super  authentic Thai food because I don’t think that   they have heard of less spicy for Foreigner  for farang so uh yeah I cannot wait to try   super authentic Tai food you better believe  that we already know what we are going to do  

Tomorrow I was sort of planning of uh renting  a scooter or something like that but maybe we   can just drive around with these bad boys wow you  guys I hope you can see it properly there in the  

Distance uh this is one of the taller let’s  say mountains some something like a hill uh   but it looks really really rough on the outside  but very interesting um Mountain to look at and   actually on one of these you can uh climb up  there’s apparently a load of stairs that you  

Can walk up and we’re still trying trying to  figure out if it’s actually this one or if it   like there’s several of these around so it might  be a different one other than uh this specific  

One but it already looks so so cool I would love  to hike hike one of those up really amazing we   are currently on the hunt for some food because  we haven’t really had anything today but on our  

Way we found all of these crazy Birds but they  all seem to be just on the junk over there it’s   sort of one localized area where all of the birds  are um I felt like directly in our hotel there was  

Not that many birds right not at all we couldn’t  hear any birds and then we we just came outside   and we went through the alleyway that we walked  in to access our hotel and once we left our the  

Area of the hotel it’s like you hear nothing  but birds crazy and we saw online by the way   that there is a night market here um directly  at the train station of Tong so I believe that  

That’s where we are going to go right now already  see the entrance of the market looks already very promising woo now we have to buy a pat Tha now  we for sure have to buy a pat Tha I  

Want I want a pat Tha this guy really  knows what he’s doing that’s definit we   need to try some food seafood or maybe  just a regular P I would get a maybe Shrimp we’re so tall we’re so tall oh my God I thought I was going to knock  everything over while walking here thank you oh c all right guys so we found it it didn’t  take us long basically to find uh some really  

Attractive looking pad TI and this here is H the  Night Market at the train station believe it or   not so very very close to where we’re staying  in patalon so it’s incredibly convenient for us   and uh we basically walked past this this pad  Tha seller and he was doing loads of tricks  

Big smile on his face really really cool we  have to stop off and give this a try now they   gave us a whole assortment of the usual sort of  poppings so you have peanuts you have uh sugar  

You have of course chili chili flakes that are  really heavily grounded down and then I believe   here you might have some fish sauce yep smells  like fish sauce I really like everything here   although I’m not too sure if I’m going to add more  sugar to this because when he was preparing it he  

Was throwing loads of sugar over it and but I’m  very very excited to try this out now I’m going   to start off by loading some peanuts on [Music]  here and obviously then some chili as well some  

Chili flakes not going to go too heavy because I  don’t know how spicy they are just yet but let’s   give these a try [Music] too then going to look  for a fork and a spoon and dive in and try this  

One out now this one that I have here guys is just  the straight up plain pad tie so let’s give it a try [Music] that is unbelievably good the  chili is very very spicy as well I’m glad that  

I only sprinkled a little bit cuz that’s some  pretty hardcore chili and I go in for another bite there’s plenty going on in here  guys loads of different different   incredible flavors unreal street food in  Thailand no matter where you go no matter  

What city it is but especially in the  non-touristy sort of off the beaten top   type cities like this one some of the best  street food that you’ll ever try in your life unreal juicy flavorful little bit of  crispiness from the these beans froats as  

Well this is perfect and a great way to sort  of Kickstart our first night here in patalon   you want to try your shrimp one yeah all right  guys I’m going to try mine as well I went for  

The shrimp one and uh I’m going to start off by  adding some lime to the equation possibly maybe   if I can oh it’s squirting in different  directions yeah it’s not going where it’s   supposed to be going still and I usually put  a good bit of peanuts on my PTI as well that’s  

The way I like it and uh because Luke said that  the chili is very potent I might not add any of   it I don’t know maybe it is already a little bit  spicy let’s just go and try it like this I want to

Say a this is beautiful it’s so good  but by itself it’s not spicy at all   so maybe add a little bit of that  spice yep just to sprinkle here and there this is so it tastes very different from  the PTI that we tried so far that’s interesting

Actually oh yeah it’s a lot um I want to say  fruity year yeah maybe yeah yeah flavors are   totally different to what we usually have very  different flavors and uh because I ordered a   shrimp one I obviously received shrimps shrimps  quite a lot of them actually oh yeah Super Fresh  

Very very tasty super flavorful M very juicy  yeah this [Music] is so good and um nuk’s plain   PTI we’re going to pay 40 bucks for that and  the shrimp one I believe it’s 45 bu now even  

If you want to look at Bangkok for example  you’re going to pay at least double in some   places even triple like we saw we saw shrimp PES  in Bangkok for like 120 B and which is still super  

Affordable like don’t get me wrong but this  is 45 but this is like € for a shrimp hat tie   which is absolutely unbeatable the ingredients  are Super Fresh super super tasty I don’t know   I cannot ask for anything more than what we  received here very very good I’m happy our  

Food was absolutely unbelievable and it came  in thank you for your came in yeah sure we   can go food came to around €2 which is crazy to  be honest unbelievably cheap K thank you byebye fore
