The Secret Wonders in Sulu You Can’t See on National TV
I thought it was rainy season but here on earth it’s still summer because we’re going island hopping. After I proved to you that there is no abuse here, now I will show you that it is possible to keep up with sulu in the famous tourist destinations that you know. As a solo traveler, especially like your girl. How is SULU? The scary stigma of not being safe. The people here in Sulu did the opposite. All their products here, they don’t buy cloth. Bagkos are the ones who make the cloth themselves and they weave it because we are here in Sulu, so I will show you their traditional mat that you probably call it. Wait, it’s a lot of water. Who would have thought that there is something like this here in Sulu? Especially here in Panama City itself. Just stick around because all the world-class scenery you can see is only here where Filipinos used to fear. But now it is a paradise and it is the province of Sulu. [Music] [Music] After I show you how to make the durol manually, it is one of the real bangbang sugoog that you can taste when you are here on the ground sugoog. Especially when you’re here with the crowd, we’ll continue our motorcycling. So from here to Patikul, we will motor for about an hour to Panamao. and ah we have a place to go and because this torch or this land is surrounded by oceans, come with me because we are going to land . We are here in the part of Barangay Bulangsi, Panama Sulo. Look at this is what we passed. The sea is very beautiful . Look, there is still a hut there. And the coconuts will rise. [Music] I thought it was raining, but why is it here in Sulo that I can still feel the summer. Look at the coconut trees. It’s beautiful. Wow! It will be very high. The breeze is nice . The smell of the sea. I’m sure you know what I mean the smell of the sea, the slightly salty and the fresh air. This is part of Barangay Bulangsi where we are going. This is where we will jump off. We will just go to their barangay hall. If you happen to land in Sulo, I’m sure you’ll be blown away by the scenery you’ll see here in May Bulangsi. It’s here near Panama. Look at the guys. We’re going to the jump off. Just like other provinces. Wait there are dogs. Don’t be there. And there are goats in the middle. That’s why you have to be double careful because some have dogs, some have goats. Sometimes it might even be the one blocking your path. When we talk about peace and order, we can almost consciously drive a motorcycle. This is not the first time we say this. This is our second return to Lupasug. And here we are again. Looks like we’re here. Look at where we are. Or that’s our jump of area. Come on, join us because we’re going to the other island. [Music] Now from here in the very village of Bulangsi, here on their beach , we will ride a boat. This is one of the things we’ve been dreaming about for a long time because that island is rarely visited. This is us. Where is it? I’m in Harapala. M here we know, I’m heavy, honestly, we have to ride here allr [Music] based on the map, goodyangan po. But what you call it, we call it tamban. It’s because the big fish around there eat the fish that we call tamban, that’s why we call him tamban. So from here how many hours or how many minutes to get here? Ah, based on what I experienced, we got it in 30 minutes. For example, the weather is bad like those in Baguio, he has a time during those times when a small boat can’t really land there. When they go to Tambanan Island, they will see there like beaches, rock formations around that island. I thought it was rainy season, but here on earth it’s still summer because the nights are nice. Let’s take this ocean to the very island that we are going to, we can see the mountain that we climbed recently, the top one is the one with the highest buduantangi, then the one next to it is almost next to the bud taho and the bodtuk down in the front and this is the wood pangima estino where we came from and maybe you can notice that the weather is cooperating for almost a year, we dreamed about it , it’s only a few minutes before we reach this island for our purpose T [Music] Look at the sea here. The cleanliness. I don’t know if I can see you on camera but maybe it’s obvious that the water is torquise blue. Look where we’re going. Maybe you can see me. Just wait, look at the water. This is it. One of the parts of Gyanga North Tambanan Island is where we will crash. You can see the water and after a few attempts, we will set foot on Tambanan Island. This is the island of Gudyangan when viewed on the map. But the locals call it Tambanan Island. According to the elders, the island of tambanan used to be a hiding place for the Spaniards. They are said to rest here after a long journey across the ocean. Some have also said that there are treasures left here on the island. In fact, there is a sunken ship far from the island that was discovered by the sailors. It is said to contain various cargo and equipment. Nowadays, this tambanan island has become a tourist destination . You can probably see why. But it’s just timing because if the waves are strong and big, you won’t be able to go to it easily . And as we descend, I will show you the sand. Look, powder is powder. Terrible. To this day I am still amazed by the war class sands here in May Sulo like that. Very fine. [Music] Because the water was so clear, the boat we rode in almost felt like it was floating and there was no sea water. The sea here is really clear . The water here is terrible. Who would have thought that there is something like this here in Sulo? Especially here in the town of Panama so you can have an idea of what their sand looks like here. It’s terrible. You see powder. [Applause] Great. Look at the sand here and there. It’s so bad it’s like trampled sand. Do you see that? Very fine. [Music] Actually, it’s rare to get there and if you do get there, it’s going to be difficult because the waves are strong. Often right where we are. If you happen to bathe here, it has like a small cave, you can take shelter, bury food and you can dive here. I’ll just put our stuff inside the bag so it doesn’t get wet. But no matter who you are, when you visit this part of Tambanan Island or when you look at Goodyangan Island on the map, look at the sand. Unleob really. From there right where we got off, this is what I saw. There is like a small lagoon on the island itself. Ah, this is it. [Music] And we don’t need no we don’t need nobody’s attention. We just w here in the very part of Tambanan Island where there seems to be a sunbar here. This is almost as many starfish as we see. That’s it. We are not allowed to touch it. The quantity. Lots of things from that. I don’t know if you can see it. This may be here. Mayo here. The quantity. That’s it. Side by side There you all are. Apart from the starfish, you can’t deny that the water is really clear here on the island we are on. We are so blessed because not all Filipinos will be able to set foot on the land here in Sulu. Especially here in Goodyangan or better known as Tambanan Island. Besides being white, the sand has historical values and there is a lagoon. You can’t deny that you can keep up with torch when it comes to clear and quality fine white sand like that. [Music] And as proof that we have arrived here at Goodland or better known as Tambanan Island, actually this is what all those who have been there are doing, writing on the very cactus here on the very cactus tree. There are different names, there is a date. That’s it, November 1, 2021. Those who go to this very island are still counted . So, this is what people who go here actually do, even the locals who write. There is even 2011 here. Let’s put it here as a fact. Kapo even I myself was surprised that this is their method here, even the locals write down everything that comes to this island. This is like a sign that they have been there. I don’t know if you can see me. Actually, when it dries because it’s put on, it really develops. [Music] After our island happens there in Tambanan Island because we are also here in Bulangsi in barangay Bulangsi and I will show you here we are. Look at it guys. Wow! Their sea here is terrible. This is only Partida barangay area. This is the so-called bulangsi beach. [Applause] So those beaches used to be free for all the people who go there. But when they improved they now have an entrance of Php10. And the fee for the cottage is 500 po. [Music] After exploring the municipality of Panamao, we motored for about an hour to the southern part of Sulu to visit the municipality of Parang. [Music] Since we are here in the field, this is the one we didn’t go to during our last visit. Or that’s it guys. Or the priest. Assalamualaikum Welcome to Parian Parang Solo. It was called a priest because during that time the priest was ours in Panabuan. Panabuan is a market. Ah, we will open at 7:30 in the morning. Then we close at 5 pm. Here in Parian we can see a lot here. Like the things of our ancestors. Like gabbangs, Baloy and then twitches. Those who come here, the tourists, what they do here is they take pictures and then they ask questions about the things inside. Then the locals, the people from here with us are already praying here. [Applause] [Music] After I show you the so-called priest, we will continue our motorcycling. So here we go. And I have something to show you guys . This way to beach area. This is the road we will go through first because the bridge we passed during our last visit is being renovated. So here we are first. Maybe the beach area is about 7 minutes to 20 minutes from where we are. Look at it, it’s probably obvious that we can ride freely anywhere in the corner of the torch. No, you don’t need to be afraid because there is nothing to be afraid of when you come here. You just have to respect it. You just have to respect the culture and tradition. And when you do that, wherever you go, even if it’s not here in Solo, you can go and you can bring your own. There is a new road here. Look at it guys. What is this barangay? Actually we have no idea but at least we have a new place to explore. Get up sppper. Ah, this is it. It was yesterday. We are here with the sprappers. Look at it. I hope you can see how white the sand is. Wow! The best. [Music] We can’t stop being stopped right here in the barangay tumanga like a torch because you can see just at the entrance, here you can find the sea and the white sands and then this is the house, you will pass by that, so even if maybe anyone can pass through here, it will be amazing, it’s not even the first time we pass by but since we’re back here in SU, especially here in the meadow, look at the sand, it’s really bad, if we only have something to take a bath with, maybe we should swim there because this is the only road, the sea will soon be here, we don’t even have a bathing suit to change, but the sea seems to be beckoning us and we’re drawn to take a bath now, in case you also behave here in the meadow alone, this is what you’ll see, there’s a good sea. Unlilublob, there are no fees for the beach here and you can really notice that apart from the tall coconut trees and the white sand, the seas here are clean . And all the way to the front, the beaches you will see are one after another. Look at the sand. [Music] Look at the white sand on the side. It’s really fun here with the torch. Oh, the sand is very fine. Look at the coconut trees and the beautiful sea. Wow! If only you could see how white the sand is here in the field, take a look. There, it begins. We are just getting started . Their place here is really great . Even though we’ve been here before, I’m still amazed. oh [Music] 2 minutes. We’ll just move forward little by little. We’ll just move forward . I will show you the next beach resort we will go to. This is it. Oh, the place is so beautiful. Here in the front a little bit. Yes immediately. It’s just so close. Our butts didn’t even warm up and we’re here at Tando Beach. Welcome to Tando Beach. [Music] Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi taala wabarakatuh. Ah welcome sir to Tando Beachs. Sir, our entrance fee is free here at Tando Beach . Mind you, only cottages need to be paid for. If it’s this small, it doesn’t matter if you have 500 mayons, you’re also quite big. Our rent is 600 . Sir, is there anyone here overnight? Yes, sir. We have overnet here. We’ll stay overnight for 1,000 in a cottage here with us, sir. It doesn’t matter who comes here to take a bath . It’s up to them what they want to do here in the Tando Beach area. Everything is possible here. It’s just that we’re not allowed here, our girls will take a bath first when they’re a bit naked. We are here in a Muslim area, that is not allowed here. Then bring drinks like wine. We are not allowed here. [Music] This is the beach we didn’t go to when we went here to Sulo. And because we got back, this is called Tandom Beach. And so you can have an idea of what it looks like and how fine the sand here is and the sand is white. You don’t have to pay anything here when you take a bath. Look at the sand. Almost identical. White. who? It’s just down there from the may to the shonogan to the place where we stopped earlier. Even down to a beach before we reach Tando. Look at how white you are. The sand is fine. These very sands here in the meadow can compete with the well-known beaches we have been to such as Boracay, Elmido, here it is almost rare and only those from here in Suluyong often go. But you have nothing to fear because it is safe here in Sulo. You see, we are almost back here in Sulo to show you the beautiful scenery, the qualities of the sand. Especially, I’ll repeat, only Php10 and this is the sand and beach that you can bathe in. You just need to respect the culture and their beliefs as a Muslim area. It is forbidden here to wear short clothes, especially for women. But just like other beaches, you’ll be tired of bathing. Look at the sands and look at the water. [Music] Let me have my tomorrow. And just like that, we have a tourist here who is also from Luzon and he is also here taking a walk alone. And so that you can have an idea and maybe you’re just saying that it’s only coming from me that it’s okay that the torch is okay. Ma’am, have a nice day. Where are you from? Be young. still young And alone, are you all alone here? Yes. Yes. Solo traveler. Solo traveler like me. And for recording ma’am as a solo traveler, especially like your girl. How is the solo? So far it’s okay. The scary stigma of not being safe has been reversed by the people here in Sulu. So they are very welcoming, very hospitable and safe. So that’s one of the things I’m telling you why I came here to show you the peace and order because Solo has long achieved almost all of Sulo, you can go anywhere without fear. And this is on the spot, maybe you can say it’s scripted, ma’am is from Bataan. youth How are you? What are your favorite foods here in Sulo? Ah, I want the black scarf. Black too. So far in the whole torch, what was the most precise place and you were beautified a lot? This is very very beautiful here as in the beauty of the sea, powdery. Just like Boracay. Just like I told you, this torch can keep up with the famous tourist destinations if we are only talking about the fine and white sands and that is not from me and it is from ma’am. Yes. As in you can compare with all the beaches in Palawan or Boracay. [Music] [Music] After we finished there near Tando Beach, we are on our way. This is the most famous and one of the most visited beaches here in May Parang. It’s funny because just like before we had a tourist act and she was only solo and a girl. That’s one of the things that will prove that you have nothing to fear here in Sulo. What you hear about this in Sulo is wrong. I will especially not come back here a second time if I know it is dangerous. And this is it. Here we are again. It didn’t even warm up. It’s less than 2 minutes away from Tando Beach. Here we are again. Welcome to Mangsali Beach Resort. It’s been a long season. I’m feeling sick to my bones. I guess that’s my reason. I packed my bags and now I’m gone. So come on. Welcome back to Mangali, Sir Capu. The entrance sir at Mangsali is Php10 per head. But our cottage, sir, is open during the day for Php500 and overnight is Php1,000. But sir, we have a room there at the end of that 3,000 24 hours. [Music] nothing but to kill. I know it’s rainy season and hope has declared that it’s rainy season. But here in Sulo, summer goes on and on. Look at the sea. For only Php10, it feels like I’m on one of the world class beaches. That’s one of the ways I would describe him right where we are. And I’m not surprised that one day it will become a famous tourist destination. This torch. Especially this part of the meadow. Notice how clear the water is and there are four huts ahead and then there is a bridge. You can take a bath there. It’s up to you. They say there are kayaks here, there are ATVs here. Of course, if you want to enjoy the heat even if it’s raining, I feel like it’s still summer right where we are, so you can enjoy it even if you’re black. If the view is like this, it’s worth it, kapo people. [Music] sun and I know I will say it again and again but this is the only way I know to shout out to you how beautiful it is that we are in today’s era where AI generated images and footages are widespread, only these kinds of evidence will prove the true beauty that sulu has because if technology can deceive the true appearance of anything or anyone, why not change it when nature itself is told you because these are the things that can never be deceived. As others say , what you see is what you get. [Music] After we go to Mangsali Beach, here to Barangay Bagsak, there is still a place to go to Parang. We are going to tell you something that will surely interest you because here in the field, this is where we can find the habul tiian factory. [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Laughter] Ma’am, good morning. I’ll just ask this design, what is it called? How? This is what we call this line. So this is the most like a trademark of tausog. Of course. So it’s this long, how many meters is it? Two meters. [Music] We’ve seen different types of music like this. This is called habulttihian. They sew it manually. They don’t use machinery, but if you look closely and very closely, you’ll think they’re made by a machine. But they do it manually . Ma’am, how many months have you been finishing this for so long? This one habor is about 3 to 4 months. 3 to 4 months. So usually where is this bulk used? We use it if for example there are buyers who can use it on occasions such as those who seem to use it . Those who are about to get married often use it as if they are using it as a makeup method. In my opinion, it’s not here that we, the tausogs, use it because there are many people like that in Luzon, maybe what we have is as far as Japan, sir, this is our product, the blanket we sew here in Barangay Bagsak, if you look closely, it’s actually very complicated to make it, because like I said, they sew it manually and when you look at the back where it’s sewn, I can’t believe that it’s almost perfect, the stitching is very focused. dedication, ma’am, how much will it cost when the entire 2 meters is finished? It depends on the price, because we priced it at 20,000, but sometimes 20 to 20,000 is the most expensive for us. The price is black and then white, more than about 25,000 for all the women here . So when it’s all finished, just put it down there. He’s already a badass. A catch. Actually, when it’s said like the word we use in the Visayas, it’s a blanket. Ah, that’s all. Blanket too. Just a blanket. Yes. blanket But it’s your belly because you cut it manually. Just think that if you are going to have a habulitan and you come here to Mayu , what you are buying here is the dedication, the time, the heart in making the habulitan itself. Actually, I’m amazed because it’s so beautiful, along with the delicious food, the beautiful places, their tradition and products like this habulatalan. Where can you see a whole blanket that is put on a design and sewn by hand, it’s just made into a blanket on the bed itself and this is what the sultans use until now. This is it. This is probably the most expensive bedsheet set I’ve ever seen. Imagine sewing by hand. Ma’am, for example, there are people who watch and want to buy habultian, how can they buy directly from you? They can also order online from Ma’am Simang in Barangay Bagsak. It can also be done at MTIT on Map because they are the naine agencies that support us. Accelerated solos. You can also order from us on the Barangay Bagsak Page. [Music] [Laughter] [Applause] [Music] And since we are here in Barangay Bagsak Parang Sulo, we have learned that the agal-agal cracker or the seaweed cracker is also made here in the barangay itself . Come on, let’s see how it’s done. Ma’am, I just want to ask when did you start making a fuss here in Barangay Bagsak? On August 5, 2021. We are there started making ano seaweed chips and ah sardines. First of all, there was a MAFAR who came to us and took us to train about seaweeds, crackers and then what about sardines. Then we thought that our seaweeds should be made into crackers instead of being sold because they can’t be used for other products. Do you use preservatives in each of your products here? Ah, we don’t use preservatives. That’s natural. All the ingredients we use in our product. How long does your seaweed cracker last? Ah, we’ve tried it and it’s been going on for 3 months. Our sardings have been going on for more than 1 year. [Music] If you saw earlier what I showed you aunty, it’s also here in Barangay Bagsak and we found out that they also make agal-agal chips. And one of the things that surprised me is that these very agal-agal chips have no preservatives and last up to 3 months. You can buy that. There’s sweet and spicy, there’s garlic, there’s classic. Php60 to Php75. I’m intrigued by the taste of agal-agal crackers or chips. If you look in Metro Manila, there are kangkong chips. Here in the land of Sulu, they have agal-agal chips or made from seaweeds. Now let’s taste it because I was intrigued that I actually didn’t expect seaweed or agal-agal to be made into crackers or chips. First bite for you. [Music] Hmm. I was sweet because the crisp or slow-cooked chips are soft when chewed. Crispy is new to our taste [Music] and not only because they also have tahusog here. Sardines. Besides the agal-agal crackers, they also have Spanish style sardines that they make here as well. I will repeat, they do not use any preservatives all natural. When they use spicy things, they really use chili. And similar to this is the Spanish style sardine. I was surprised because of all the types of sardines, this is actually my favorite. So I’m happy because I can taste their product. A bottle is Php100 and it lasts for a year without using preservatives. And because it’s my favorite, here’s the first bite for you. Actually if I close my eyes now, I can line him up and he can keep up with the commercialized sardines. Maybe if they use olive oil here, maybe the shelf life will last longer. If you also come here to Barangay Bagsak Parang Sulo, you can buy agal-agal chips, sardines, especially Spanish style. Hmm. It’s so delicious guys. You should taste it too. [Music] After we went to the factory of agal-agal crackers and when the sardines were dropped in the barangay bagak, it was raining quite a bit so we just hurried and we are here in the barangay Lumbaan. It’s still a village and I’m going to show you something. [Music] There is a similarity in the very core of the one we saw in Tawi-Tawi. The process is the same, the pandan is made the same and the way they do it is the same. But right here, like a torch, that’s where we saw the very pandas that they use, they take it, they process it, they pickle it and they also do the coloring. And right here at mom’s house, the baloy is made. Mom, how many years have you been making baloy? It’s already sloppy. How many years younger am I? I am still related to them. I have been widowed for three years. Ah, you’ve been working for 30 years. Yes, that’s it. But how old are you now? I submitted my certificate 75. If we add up, mom has been making baloy for almost 40 years. After we finished talking about how the process is a bit complicated from getting pandan. Hmm. Because they will keep it, let it dry, then keep it again with a coloring die, and then it seems like they will add something to it as a hobby when you have finished the whole baloy. How many months will it take for all of them to turn white? How many days will it take for the hair to turn white? Put a pencil on the back like a liner. PH,000 po. Related to or talking about the torch, tausogs. This is their traditional mat. That’s it. Php3,000. [Music] The other way is to use the mat on the bottom and the mattress on the top. Here in the soo , especially when used by the elderly. They say the baloy, this is the mattress and the baloy is on top. It’s the other way around for us, we have the mat on the bottom and the mattress on the top. But here with them, this is how they use it. It just comes out. These very colorful ones when there is a special occasion. [Music] After I show you how to make baloy, we have another factory to show you here, one of the trademarks here on earth. So it’s a bit rainy, so please excuse me. But it’s close to where we went earlier. Here we are. It’s just a little slippery. So we are here at the livelihood Hablon Center. Let me show you. [Music] Salam alayikum. Welcome to Sir Hablon Center. Ma’am, have a nice day. I’m just asking what are your products here at the Hablon Livelihood Center. We have turong and then kind and then pece. [Music] Here at the Habloon Center there are male and female that you can choose like this. This is what can be done to men, it seems to be done the same way. Because of this ma’am PH,5 PH,5. So if you’re thinking that these fabrics are just made from scraps. Almost all of their products are woven by hand . [Music] We also found out that here at the Hablon Center itself, you can choose five products from the kambot. Hmm. Sindang. Sindang. Yes. Teaching. turong malong and the pis yabit so this one was called ma’am what is it called kindang yes so how much is this kind sir ph5 the turong ph5 so it means this kindang is for women ah for women how do you wear it like that sir and also on the head and then job ah if that’s the case is it only worn by women or men it can’t be men Ah it can be men but this kind woman. Just a girl. But for men, it is often worn that is called kambot. [Music] And they also have it here. How much is the order? Php,000. Php7,000. If you think that they are buying the fabric, well, you are wrong because here at the livelihood center, they do it manually. Ma’am, what do you call this kind of work? Hey Hey Like this, the thread was very long. When it’s cut, ma’am, what will happen here? He said he will be joined. Ah, because the thread will be joined from here in the front to there, and at the very end, there is the hablon or the one who makes their products . [Music] If you’re also looking for something I’m wearing, here it is. This is what you can buy. One of the ones you can buy here. That. Different colors. Various designs. How much is this? 1 3. Like that, it can be like that. It can be like that. Actually many uses. You can make it like a sash. So these are often used when there is a special occasion such as a wedding. That’s like that. This is what men use. If it’s for women, it’s called kinda. This is the one for the men. [Music] Of all the designs I mentioned to you, the one that is unique and the most difficult is this design that is right behind us called buwal ng ka. [Music] Ma’am, how much did this long piece cost when it was finished? 10,000 two meters 2 meters already. For Php 10,000, this is a real jackfruit when we talk about the decades of the law, this is really the most difficult. So ma’am, how many months have you been doing this? It’s been about 3 months. 3 months. You can assume your names. You can customize. Whatever design you have, what color. If you also want to have your own design, you can make your own. You will fall. But of all the designs just like what I mentioned to you, this one is the most difficult and one of the most expensive. K. [Music] 타 [Music]
