The day trips from central Hong Kong have really be amazing! In this video, we take a ferry for a day trip to Cheung Chau. Cheung Chau is a small island, about an hour by ferry from Hong Kong, and it has a surprising number of things to do!

    I REALLY enjoy your videos. You seem to go to the places on my bucket list and I have followed a few of your journeys already. Thank you for more of HK, we did HK Island and I was floored at the amount of people, so it is nice to see other more remote areas. If you are up for something unique, I would love to hear your take on Sapporo snow festival and things to do in Hokkaido.

    You guys went cheng chau, yeah! Covered well and certainly that is a legit hk trip 🎉 I've went to cheng chau, peng chau and lamma island before. Hk outlying island has a certain retro laid back vibes totally different from central. Love watching your vids and enjoy ❤❤

    I believe you guys may also fall in love with Sai Kung where many world class islands are accessible..
    fewer people, more water sports, fresher sea food than Cheung Chau..I visit a lot but never get tired🎉😂

    Cheung Chau, Lamma Island and Ping Chau are 3 of the bigger and most populated main islands accessible only by ferries in Hong Kong. Enjoy.

    Bill made a solid effort with the mussel! To be honest, there's no "wrong way" to eat in Hong Kong, as long as it makes its way to your gob 😂 I usually hold on to the shell of any shell food with one hand and pry out the meat with my chopsticks so I can eat it with some of the vermicelli that comes with it. Hope you're having a good rest of your trip here!

    When eating challenging food with chop sticks, I use a Chinese spoon to hold the food (to provide leverage). An interesting site to see is the Pirate Cheung Po Chai cave.

    Love your positive and loving vibe videos♥💜Love your music, commentaries and your sunflower-like smiles🧡💜. Cheung Chau is actually quite touristy, especially on weekends. I bet you would like Ma Wan Island more, easily accessible from the Central Pier No.2 via a 20-minute ferry trip. No chaos no crowds at all, a small beautiful quiet chill island, pet friendly, quiet peaceful beaches with moutain greenery views, easy and safe round-island hiking trails with stunning sea views. There are local, istanbul, korean, japanese and Germany cousine on the little island too. There is actually a nice hotel on this paradise like island, Noah's Ark hotel, very holiday chill feel. Or solarvillas at lower price.

    Lamma Island and Discovery Bay? Those are not locals. Locals rarely take pictures this way. Most likely the mainland chinese tourists judging by their facial features and their style of clothings.

    Welcome to our city, there are so many islands, beaches and mountains here for you to explore. Next time it’s better to come in October and November when the weather is in the low 20C

    Glad you both find Hong Kong enjoyable!
    Go to Sai Kung on the eastern part of the New Territories, there it is our back gatden & very laid back. It has plenty natural sceneries, many islands & beaches, hiking & water sports, seafood restaurants & cafes, you can enjoy a full day or days there with no regret.
    Additionally, there is a geopark with a coast of ten thousand hexagonal columns, result of a prehistoric era volcanic eruption, it is ranked by IUGS as one of the hundred geological heritages in the world, it is a specular view to visit.
    Hope that your trip to Hong Kong is a memorable one.

    Eating mussels with hand is correct if you can't dislodge the meat from the shell with chopsticks, but without putting the shell into the mouth though. Cheung Chau is the birthplace is HK's FIRST (not the only one LOL) Olympic gold medalist. Relatedly, have your been to Lamma Island, the birthplace of Chow Yuen Fat whom you could run into sometimes on the street?

    18:38 The sign is old! Lee Lai Shan (aka "San San") was Hong Kong's only Olympic gold medalist (Atlanta '96) until 2021 when we finally won another one in Tokyo. And in Paris we won two more, so we now have 4 Olympic gold medals!

    Here's what will happen, you'll get home and after just a few days you'll start to miss Hong Kong, you'll hop online and see how many amazing places you missed and before you know it you will be planning another visit. At least that's how it was for me, around 10/11 Hong Kong trips ago . I now visit annually for a 3 week holiday and just never tire of the place. I am quite well travelled but there's a magnetism to HKG that I just can't shake, nor do I want to. As a very keen photographer it's obviously a great place, and the birdlife is just stunning, even in the parks but once out in the countryside it's just amazing. I will be booking my next trip for 3 weeks in Jan/Feb very soon. Best time to visit is Nov-Mar, it's a lot more fun in the forests and hiking trails without the humidity believe me.

    Cheung Chau is so much more built up than I remember from 5-6 years ago! FYI, you could've rented one of those hundreds of bicycles to get around the island.

    Thanks for your travel vlog from HK. One suggestion: It would be even better if you showed on the map of HK some special places you are visiting, such as Cheung Chau, which is one of the outlying islands. Keep on with the good work🙂💕
