(Why We RV) Family Adventure Vlog in Buena Vista, Colorado

You’re doing it. You’re doing it. Go, Forest. Go. [Music] [Music] Out of my mind. How could I be so blind? How could I not see? Awake [Music] on the floor looking up. This is so unreal. Wow. Incredible views. The first climb. Stunning. Beautiful. [Music] All right, guys. So, the other night we went to the hot springs, the Charlotte hot springs. It was so much fun. It was great. I needed that for my muscle recovery. The minerals is supposed to be good for recovery and everything like that. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] And today we’re here in the new downtown of Wav Vista. I don’t know if it’s really called that. Melissa is on the new toy over here. There’ll be a whole video on that. And it’s really cool. It’s kind of neat. There’s a brewery, coffee shop, like another place. The surf hotel is over here as Melissa is surfing by. And uh hey Tag, you’re it. And uh basically we’re just kind of hanging out in Bu Vista. We’re camped up off of 24 and we’re only about 13 minutes from Bu Vista in a beautiful spot. And so we’re just hanging out at the park tonight. It’s a Friday night. Oh, almost got it on tape. Got it on tape. Um but yeah, I would say check out this downtown. There’s a little rock climbing thing. And then further up, a little bit north up river past the surf hotel, there’s a skate park and a pump track. So those were really fun. Me and Lincoln hit those earlier. Hudson is officially walking. Oh, Tag, you’re it. I’m going to get you. Hey. Oh. Oh. Oh. Watch it. Watch it. You’re it. We picked up a onehe pint X and Melissa’s learning how to ride it here in the grass. Great place to learn and it’s fun cuz it’s softish. We’re do a whole video on this because I think this could be a very useful tool for RVers. We’ll do that later. But it’s fun. Watch her. She’s literally her first like 10 minutes on it. So, she’s doing good. A lot of it is very new and they’re still building. But it’s really cool. It’s really kind of like walkable, but it feels like a I don’t know, like a downtown, but it feels like a a city street also. It’s just really unique in general. And I’m no professional, but this is a new house. And these are new houses and they’re like craftsman style. I think it’s just so cool how they’ve done it. Here comes Melissa. Don’t fall on camera. You got it. We both used to snowboard a lot back in the day, so it’s it’s not too difficult. It’s similar the following day. Good morning, fellow adventurers. Today, it’s a brisk, chilly day. It’s about 30 something here in uh Buenav Vista, Colorado, and we’ve been camping in this beautiful area off of Highway 24. It’s just absolutely perfect. It’s off a really nice service road. And this is why we like the boondock. Um, you can stay here for 2 weeks. Got fire pit. Got everything you really truly need when you combine the solar and the water. Today I’m going for about mountain bike ride. And what’s really cool is I can ride from our camp all the way into Buenav Vista. Apparently, I’ve never done it before. Um, but I start near Highway 24 and Dirt Road 305. And I’m doing the Midland Trail System, which is really wellnown, supposedly really well marked, and really popular cuz the trails are supposed to be really good. So, the game plan for today is I’m taking off early. It’s about 6:00 a.m. I’m going to ride from camp down into Buista, and Melissa’s going to pick me up in the truck, and then I’m going to shuttle her up to ride down. And then I don’t know, we’re going to hang out in downtown, potentially do lunch or something afterwards. All right, we made it to the actual trail head, which is four mile travel management area. This is showing you the map, Fair Play, uh, Point Vista 24. I think we’re camped somewhere over here cuz I just came up here on 305. So, dirt road here, dirt road here, 305. I’m going to hit Midland Trail, hopefully Bacits, Sausage Links to another trail ahead, and then kind of come around here and then try to ride it right into the new downtown where we were last night. Um, you can just first camp up this road. All the rules are here. Please follow them, you know, don’t leave trash, all that jazz. You can tell I’m out of breath. Have a pretty good elevation here. Um, this area is beautiful. There’s Aspens. I drove up this the other day. So, nice camping. You could tell there’s razors parked here. So, I think it’s like a rental company. Um, so it’s pos uh popular for razoring as well. OB [Music] Look at this little canyon. It’s cool. [Music] [Music] Today is Saturday. First day of the weekend, always the best. Uh we did two separate bike rides today. So Jesse went and did a 14mile trail from camp to Buenav Vista. Um, he can tell you the route that he took. It was like five different trails all linked together. Um, and then I was like, “That took you 3 hours. I’m not going to do that much of a ride, especially cuz it’s getting kind of hot.” Um, so we met in town for breakfast at Cool River Cafe. And then he went and dropped me off and I did Sausage Link, um, which was a pretty short like technical flowy nice bike trail. Um, and then we decided to come back towards like the downtown area and like the white water park in Buenav Vista and found this like awesome little section of river where it’s kind of protected and really like slow for the kids to splash around in. So just enjoying the sun and the water hanging out and uh we’re going to get lunch in town later too. For lunch we went to Los Arena. It’s a food truck located slightly behind the downtown. They had a super nice outdoor setup and the food hit the spot. Absolutely incredible tacos. Later on, of course, we had to hit up the skate park and the pump track. These places are so much more fun now that I have something to ride with Lincoln. But I’ve got to be careful cuz I’m not 16 anymore. Nice, buddy. Yeah. [Music] All right. So, we’re here at Cottonwood Lake, halfway up Cottonwood Pass, and we’re going to go out on the lake and paddle. We’re with our friends who we were with yesterday. Got the boat, the bris. We’ll link it. They got paddle boards. We brought lunch. We got a nice little beach area over here, too, after. It’s cool. There’s some cabins and whatnot, but this is Colorado. Don’t mind the crapper. This is Colorado. [Music] [Music] Can’t beat it, babe. You can’t beat Colorado. This is better than any ocean in my opinion. And we are from Southern California. Beach was 30 minutes away. And I prefer this all day long. Look at this beauty. I love it.

  1. I was just in Buena Vista a few weeks ago and it was amazing. What a great little town. I could easily live there if it wasn't so expensive. I loved how all the shops, restaurants and breweries catered to the outdoor life. Even the decor was rustic and outdoor themed. I stayed in Mt Princeton campground and it was awesome. Stayed right beside this creek with loud waterfalls. That part of Colorado is my favorite but I had to move on as my final destination was Ouray. Another awesome little town.

  2. Great video, always enjoy your mountainbiking adventures. It's been a few years since we have been to BV, the one wheel looks like so much fun. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
